Anybody else notice the Diesel nozzle in Thomas' s Petrol tank? I've found he does it a lot, to see if anyone notices, shows a second or 2 of something that shouldn't be there! 😂
greetings to the whole team, I myself have been a mechanic for over 20 years, I have followed the project from the beginning, it is noticeable that that engine took a lot of energy from you, that's why those mistakes are also in the second round, you are human, so admit it, I love that about you because we all make mistakes but we have to try to reduce them to not a minimum but zero, but the comment is long but I wanted to say something, on such expensive projects I never start the engine without a pressure gauge to satisfy my endless suspicion, the old school is the law, not just start but leave it for a while hours to see even in the morning at the first start how quickly that pressure rises, good luck until the end of the job.
Nice to see it running. Few notes. You can reuse ARP bolts just fine. Don't use 10W-60 oil if you really don't need it. Spec is 5W-30, you could use 5W-40 if you run it hard and the oil temps rise. Correct oil temp is the key. Also when running the engine in, it is good to use mineral oil, and give it 30-70% throttle (revs up and down with engine braking) so that the piston rings get enough pressure. Driving it with light throttle can make the piston rings seal bad and it can start to eat oil. The original water hose spring clamps are the best. They let the hose expand when the engine gets hot. Just buy new ones if the olds are crusty. I have built few 1000+ hp B5 biturbo engines 😊
Great to see you get through the build, nice that you were very open and honest about the issues you had to overcome. Now, let's get it through tuning!
I can appreciate your dedication, now that you’re going to florida, take a look at some of the LS motors that can help with a future job/ build.. again bless your patience 😊
if you'd make a netflix show, my subscription would worth it at last! could watch this every day. what an emotional roller coaster! don't mind the money, its all about the journey! Happy for you, and hope you get a well deserved rest
Brave man! Contrats for the videos and always calm under such workload! What is that diesel filler you used, maybe some noise are because of diesel vs petrol use😂
I didn’t expect another video so fast but glad you got it back together and she’s running okay. I admire your resilience mate and I know you’re a bit deflated still but you’ve done an amazing job considering all that’s happened.
That's an amazing turn around from round 1! I knew on your first start-up procedure there was an issue building oil pressure. Took you over 30 minutes to an eternity and from what i've seen on this video it was a matter of minutes to fill the oil filter housing. Can't wait to see the future of this car!!
Buying in advance your damm sure it ain't going south this time some time effort n love for such a vehicle to invest all this in hope you n tha family get to enjoy the smiles this beast will produce 👍
I would say this RS6 is jinxed! But I reckon you will get over it, you just need some time. Why would I say that? Because you did not look happy at all with the outcome and that shouldn't be the case when you do projects to enjoy. I still have to admire the job you did, and I'm just hoping that things will turn out better.
So pleased you cracked this one and how your guys helped you out. Think of it as character/team building . Life can only be lived looking forward but only understood looking backwards. You’ll remember this life lesson. Looking forward to more on this engine journey. I’ll never own another Audi but I can see the attraction of these cars. Time for some beer now!
16:57 screw clamps are not the proper clamps, what you have installed now are the proper clamps made for coolant pipes, they expand and contract unlike screw clamps.
Fair play for your dedication to re building such a complex engine a second time, fancy a nice easy job? sort my 1994 S2 Clifford G4 concept alarm out...!!! Some numpty ie (me) kept pressing the retractable switch and activated the anti car jacking feature.. that I didn't know it had, nore do I have the code to un-jack it....
Wow. That build and rebuild took serious dedication and commitment. It would've beaten many, but you had the tenacity to see it through. So many unbelievable issues, even with new parts! Well done. Treat it gently for a while and keep checking the levels etc. Im sure you know that anyway. Hope you're trouble free from now on. 👍🏼
I think I'd stick to a 5w-40 quality oil and not go with a 10w-60 BMW fill. Later Audi engines are getting tighter tolerances than years ago and if you are sticking to OEM specs for the Main and Rod bearing clearances the -60 might be a little on the thick side. And especially now if you are getting freezing cold weather there. Don't know how your Mobile One oil is there but we don't consider it one of the better Synthetic oils, do some searching for Oil analysis and maybe even send yours in for one.
So there are four channels that I really enjoy watching: Matt Armstrong, Tavarish, Saving Salvage and yours. I am excited when I see any one of them release a new video, but yours especially since as a B9 S4 owner I really love your focus on keeping Audis running and I love this series of yours about the RS6 V10. Such a fabulous car and I love your plans and persistence to make it work despite the setbacks. I really wish you guys well and hope you get the attention and massive subscriber numbers you deserve!

I freaked out!!!!!!
hahahaha. i lost it when i saw that. appreciate the sense of humour involved with putting that shot in.
Yer he did it before in other videos!! he thinks we don't notice!!
I was SO confused
i was about to comment the same thing lol
May the oil pressure Gods be with you 🙏🙏
Shezmu!
😁

In the world of engines there are 3 factors:
Reliable
Fast
Cheap
The problem is you get to choose only two. 😂

yeah it seems too heavy of oil. No way the clearances are that loose. I often use LiquiMoly Synthoil but am sure there are other good ones in 5/40
My heart did miss a beat when I saw that diesel nozzle in the tank! 😂
I'm in awe of your stubborn dedication to your craft.
@SAVING SALVAGE should get that oil pump, he has an RS6 that needs one.
what a journey, love the build series, alot of commitment
Great to see these build vids continuing. Love 'em.
Fingers crossed that it's all plain sailing from now on.
Recharge those batteries, have a great holiday and come back refreshed.
Wow - need to recharge those internal batteries after that experience!
Thanks Tom. Great series with the RS6!! enjoyed it.

mallory would be a good look in terms of the tune...that will be done safely
if you'd make a netflix show, my subscription would worth it at last! could watch this every day. what an emotional roller coaster! don't mind the money, its all about the journey! Happy for you, and hope you get a well deserved rest
Haynes manuals always helpfully state to replace in the reverse order of dismantling. Thanks for sharing - sounds good!
Super job .....well done!!
Thanks!
Brave man! Contrats for the videos and always calm under such workload!

I have same sound and it works fine dont worry 😊

Good viewing for sure.. frightening amount of rebuilding.

I have to admit that is one great looking car. I really prefer the Touring models to the SUV’s.
Glad the engine is done, hope you can enjoy it now.
Been there done that. You get low low, then you feel high again. Keep it up and chin up!
IT´S ALIVE! 🤩

i haven’t been this invested in a youtube project in awhile…
For the love of the RS6!
Well done, I wish I had 10% of your knowledge, really enjoyed the build so far 🤙🤙🤙
Well you did put that new oil pump in anyway :D
Good goood
Well done on a successful build, you got there eventually. 👌
Nice to c a b5 s4🤙
Well done that maniac!
Looks like you used the new pump… considering what you plan for this car, its a good move. 👍
Yes my
Most expensive single part I ever bought 😀
DRS Derby for tunning. Also have rolling road.
The only guy I would trust to tune it would be Ricky at RE 👍
Great build btw.
Wow, that was quick!
Hold on you will make it :-)
Wow a lot if money but it's better than any new car you could buy

The video has not done it justice the amount of work you have put into that engine . Great to see it off the ramp.
what a huge project
props on you for this massive work
its on the good way 👍
For the mapping Romain from Racecal 👌
well done mate !
8:17 👀😔. I miss the days of getting in my car on a frosty morning, knowing that I’m going to have a blast On my way to work.
Congrats fantastic 👏 let’s go more updates & success please 👍
Ricky from REPerformance will maybe buy your V10 R8 RS6 oilpump.
Love it! Bravo to you!!! Congratulations as well!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!! 😃
50k wow fair play..
Don’t risk it put the new pump on. You know it makes sense.

So this is you, hahaha. Great job 💪
Maybe you should tune at JD engineering @ the Netherlands, they will do the job for sure, and free break in km's. 😊
Don't risk the old oil pump, i have a sketchy feeling. Use the new one and sell the old one lol.
Top work man. Proper dedication.
Are you running plenty of load/vac to bed the rings??
Finally something great! Would you happen to have the partlist for the oil pump repair bits? I could not see it all in the previous video... :)
Sure he bought it from RE Performance
If you don’t need the ceramics I will be interested in buying the fronts for mine
Nice one thanks
When you popped the bonnet at 8:23 what’s that eeeeeeee noise without the engine running that then shuts off? My RS4 does the same thing
depends if you do it right
Keep pushing 🫸
Saving salvage maybe want the spare oil pump for his RS6?
