  • After using the affordable and dependable RDX shin guards for Muay Thai and Kickboxing I recently upgraded to the more expensive Venum Elite Shin Guards. Are they worth the extra cost?
    It's hard enough finding the right pair of shin guards for sparring, so I though this video might help some of you decide.

    I have the venom elites. Best shin gaurds ive ever owned. Good protection and not too bulky. Plus i like that the velcro overlaps instead of goes through the metal pull loop cuz i have giant calves that don't always fit that style

      I actually just sent the Venom elites back to Amazon and I was sad about it lol they were so beautiful but the velcro was digging into the back of my leg. I ordered a large because the chart but now I’m reading they run big. I’m 5’11.5 and weigh 170

      Thank you for the feedback. Yeah, you will have to get closer to a hundred dollars to get the quality and protection, $40 pads would suffice for a while, but have their shortcomings like i pointed out in the video. Thank you again for the comment.

    My personal favourite is the fairtex sp5, the textured cloth inner lining and solid hook and loop straps mean they rarely slide. Also the padding is great.

      I've carried Revgear here in my gym for many years. Their shin guards were decent and sufficient, but I could never say they were ever my favorite, but tastes vary. there was a pair of the "grappling" or MMA style shin guards that were popular with my students.

    If im just looking to do some heavy bag work which shin guard do you recommend?
    EDIT: Also, how do the RDX compare to the cheaper venum shin guards like the Venum Kontact or the Venum Kontact Evo shin guards.

    • @Krufessor_Rad
      @Krufessor_Rad  2 роки тому +8

      I wouldn’t recommend using shin guard if you’re just doing bag work. It’s better to kick your bag with bare shins. Shin guards effect your contact and you also want to get used to the impact. We use shin guard primarily for contact with others.

      @Krufessor_Rad  Рік тому

      I recommend the shin guards I was showing in the video. I don't have people kick bags with shin guards on. It makes things s bit wonky. Over time you'll build up a tolerance.

    The original Muay Thai big version as you called them "Moon Boots" I bought them by accident got them too big for me but they make sense now! This is a BIG secret to making sure those strap shin guards don't move around. 1.Place your foot inside the foot strap inside first, then strap the Shin nicely and make sure is aligned with your shin nicely having a good feel against your shin. Now strap around the ankle nicely it should feel easy to strap if it doesn't feel easy something is wrong in the shin alignment strap, if you do this they won't move around as much. Anything sock style will absorb all sweat, my gym requires us that we wear knee and elbow pads for Muay Thai if we want to knee and elbow to protect others from mayor injuries and that gear is mostly made sock style.

      Man I hate nothing more than the “sock like” material or the neoprene shinguards. I’m a very hygienic and clean person, and I take very good care of my gear but it’s nearly impossible to keep those from smelling over time, as well as those shitty sock knee pads fall apart so fast

      I'm not a huge fan of slip on or sock type shin guards. they are always cheaper, but that because they are very thin and don't provide much protection. some people like them. I trained with a pair for years, but they were a bit different and provided solid protection even though they were slip on. I needed them for MMA so my guards didn't slide around during ground work.
