Just wanted to say thank you for all the effort you put into your videos! They must take a fair bit of time and the explanations are so clear. Many thanks and keep up the excellent work! :)
Hi Doc. I have a question. Would an atomic nucleus with spin angular momentum cause frame dragging similar to what we measured from the Earth with Gravity Probe B? I would imagine it would but it would be random framing dragging. Say I could produce a material which exhibits nuclear ferromagnetic ordering, would it produce ordered frame dragging and function as a gravitomagnet?
The V(x,t) term has been bothering me since I learned the schrodinger equation. It's always given as an assertion which is separate from the state of any particles or wavefunctions, as if it was an independent entity in the model. But it does come from somewhere, and QM will never make sense without computing it from psi.
its a lovely lecture with wonderful mathematics........but is spin actually based on reality? other than the numbers and arrows, what is spin? it is said to be a quantum concept but the nucleon or electron isn't actually spinning in the classical sense........does spin have any analogy in the mundane real world of the human senses and human experience? does 'spin' exist in any real sense? or is it a result of mathematical invention?
Quantum spinning isn't a physical process, it is more of a mechanical process. It isn't an actual spin, it is just the property of an electron that is mechanical and non-physical.
Underated channel. Very good physics teacher

Man. Thank you for every single second of all of these videos. Thank you.
I have been following your channel since 2012. The older these videos gets, the more often I visit them for understanding equations.
Great video, and fantastic explanation! Thank you very much, from a Brazilian student. Please keep doing that kind of lessons (videos).
Many thanks.
these videos are pure gold!!... thx man
Excellent explanation from a real master: spin and angular momentum made easy . Thanks drPhysicsA
Your videos helped me a lot...specially of Maxwell's Equation and of Einstein's field equations.
thanks for all your videos. you are the best teacher i have ever had
Noam
Great video! Tough job getting a good understanding of spin and especially angular momentum, this helps.
So grateful for DrPhysicsA!
Could you upload this in HD or FullHD?
Clear explanation !!! Thanks

how do you calculate (L=2) ? at 29:39
love your videos!!!!
At 10:20, it seems to me that S1 should be |up, up> + |down, down>.
this is very helpful in understanding the spin ....thanks alot
25:40..can you please advise how did you calculate msd by taking the average..but where is Planck's constant
I’ve got the same question.
Wow great video, and am guessing this is why deuterium is capable of undergoing nmr
How I=3/2,5/2 etc are possible
What instrument are used to measure the nuclear spin of the deuterium nucleus ?
Thankyou you because you are excellent.
Sir you are best . Sir make video on quantum field theory

I just wanted to know if proton have spin only oR spin and momentum both
Thank you! One question: is the magnetic moment of the orbital angular momentum zero for Quantum number l =0?
Spin quantum number "S" is always 1/2, it's magnetic spin q.n which is either 1/2 or -1/2..

How can an electron which is spinning in one direction, suddenly spin in the other direction without slowing down and stopping first?
It isn't physically spinning, but quantum spinning.
What is the difference?
So it wouldn't physically slow down.
+Fematika Can you please exlain how quantum spin is different from acual spinning?
Quantum spinning isn't a physical process, it is more of a mechanical process. It isn't an actual spin, it is just the property of an electron that is mechanical and non-physical.
what is your professional opinion on the iranian nuclear deal? keep in mind, they do indeed have unlimited access to enriched uranium
Thank you! :-)
But sir spin are mention in (-1/2 and 1/2)
what about S= -1?
sajjid imran not possible
ro = 1.2 fm!!!
This isn't science, this is math
bescuit Actually, there is little to no real math involved: this is just high school algebra and very basic calculus, nothing beyond.
!!!!
