They made a HUGE mistake deleting this scene, it really shows the depth of their friendship and how much Glinda really cares for Elphaba and makes the train scene make SO much more sense
But when Glinda had the opportunity to go with her to leave Oz, she didn't take it. So... this scene wouldn't have helped Glinda's "growth development " case.
This scene makes so much more sense of why Elphaba pulled Gilda onto the train. It gives so much more meaning and depth to so many things. I would have loved it.
I actually think it makes sense to remove it, because it’s a bit at odds with Glinda initially scolding Elphaba for going against the Wizard, and Glinda not actually caring about Dr Dillamond.
I don’t know, I think this should’ve stayed in. Glinda’s show of support here becomes even more tragic considering her decision at the end. Also makes Elphaba’s reaching out to her at the end even more tragic since here she promises to never leave Glinda behind again. It both solidifies their growth while planting the seeds for their regressions. I get it, the movie is nearly 3 hours but this feels like an important piece. Might as well consider it canon though!
I noticed they deleted a LOT of scenes involving the bond between Elpheba and Glinda. I feel this particular scene is quite tragic, as Elpheba is forced to leave Glinda behind during Defying Gravity 😢😔 (due to the guards restraining Glinda). I wish they had kept this scene in, as it as depth to the train scene, and even more to Defying Gravity. It also shows Glinda's character development and how she cares for Elpheba
It's crazy that all these deleted scenes fix my main problem with the movie which was we don't get to see enough of their friendship after Popular. One of my main issues was how the director and cast described the friendship between the characters as the centerpiece of the film. Yet, we only got a couple of scenes showing them actually being good friends. I just couldn't buy their relationship as being that close.
Exactly what I thought. As someone who didn't see the stage show and hasn't read the book it was a bit hard to go from Loathing to Popular. I kept thinking of Mean Girls (the musical film). But I loved loved loved having Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Woodsman, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow at the start of the yellow brick road
“I won’t leave you behind again” Elphaba didn’t. She asked Glinda to come with her to the Emerald City, and then to fly away with her. But Glinda wasn’t ready to leave everything for Elphaba, showing that there are limits to how much she’ll help
This was only 1 minute long! They could have kept it. This scene is absolutely beautiful and deepens their relationship. I really wish they hadn’t cut it.
this is so horrible to have cut. And speculation would be much more interesting, considering they’re basically admitting that she ACTIVELY CHOSE fiyero to stay awake, when many have been theorizing that it’s something different
This scene was the connection that was missing. I'm hoping for a director's cut with it included sometime down the (yellow brick) road. 💚💕💚💕💚💕 still a wonderful move but it NEEDED just this one more minute.
I think she did choose, subconsciously. You’re right that she can’t control her powers yet, but something deep know reacted to Fiyero also being vocal during Dr. Dillamond’ public and forceful removal from his classroom. If she had control over the poppies in that scene, I do think she would have chosen Glinda.
So glad they cut this. Loved the movie don’t get me wrong. I also think in the final product Ariana did great but man you can really see how bad she is at acting in this deleted scene.
I think she did a great job overall in the film. I was the first to admit she couldn’t act, even though I’ve been a huge fan of hers since her Victorious days. But she’s genuinely good here, what are you talking about?

Right??????
totaly forgot about train scene, she didnt leave her behind, nice.
But when Glinda had the opportunity to go with her to leave Oz, she didn't take it.

I felt the same but look up his explanation on why he took it out. It helped me understand the reasoning

my heaarrrt. This seems like a vital moment in their relationship, why cut this one out of everything???
Maybe we’ll get a director’s cut of wicked! 🤞
Show don’t tell. The train station platform scene covers this. And also adds more to E’s invitation to G for the visit to the city.
Cz it makes things too complex and to resolve all the complexity, the movie must last 4h long

Glinda was more hurt that Elphaba didn’t choose her than elphaba going off with her man 😢 shows how much their friendship means to Glinda
I noticed they deleted a LOT of scenes involving the bond between Elpheba and Glinda. I feel this particular scene is quite tragic, as Elpheba is forced to leave Glinda behind during Defying Gravity 😢😔 (due to the guards restraining Glinda).

The amount of pain in Elphaba’s eyes when it came to Glinda talking about Fiyero I can’t even like my poor baby looks so heartbroken😢

History will call them friends...
And they we're roommates
@@crapreact5989omg they were roommates
This is the gayest thing I've ever seen. I love it. I wished it'd been in the final cut. My poor Glinda was so in love.
Omg stfu not everything is gay, they were literally fighting over a man in the movie.
“I won’t leave you behind again”

Seriously! Like I'm actually upset they cut this, it's literally only a minute long and it would have elevated the following scenes even more
@ exactly ! the amount of scenes that go through my head that could have been cut a little shorter to make room for this one is a long list.
We need an uncut version asap ! Let’s hope they edit the second movie better with reduced cuts
The scene where Glinda rides the train with Elphaba would have made more since because Elphaba said she wouldn’t leave Glinda behind
And Glinda’s decision to not go with her in the end would’ve been more impactful and heartbreaking, what a misopportunity
THIS IS WHAT I WAS MISSING - WHY CUT THIS!
BRO WHYYYY was this cut??! Makes the final choice between the two of them in defying gravity SO much more tragic 😭😭
this is so horrible to have cut. And speculation would be much more interesting, considering they’re basically admitting that she ACTIVELY CHOSE fiyero to stay awake, when many have been theorizing that it’s something different

Completely agree!
my mind is saying gelphie.
Whyyy would you cut this! I need an extended version STAT
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They deleted all the wrong scenes from the movie wtf 😭 They should've kept this!!!!
Why, Glinda was jealous that Fyerro has Elphaba? She shouldn't be. I also ship Elphaba with Fyerro😁.
Why didnt Elphie point out she didnt pick anyone to help her?
She didnt even know what happened...
No this one is in the movie.
THATS LITERALLY WHAT I SAID!
Ironic that Elphaba pick Glinda to help her fight the Wizard and do the right thing but Glinda chose to stay behind instead
these lesbians istg
So glad they cut this. Loved the movie don’t get me wrong. I also think in the final product Ariana did great but man you can really see how bad she is at acting in this deleted scene.
Can u explain exactly why is her acting considered bad in this deleted scene? What direction is not fitting her to act as Glinda in this scene?
I think she did a great job overall in the film. I was the first to admit she couldn’t act, even though I’ve been a huge fan of hers since her Victorious days. But she’s genuinely good here, what are you talking about?
@ she moves like a robot. It feels manufactured. Look at her eyes when she talks here.
@@crazycatzg3481he's just throwing negativity 🙄
This is so good!! Gives way more meaning when Elphie decides to bring her to meet the Wizard now!🩷
