7:10 So if I understand correctly, they didn't compare a low-carb diet and a high-carb diet and found no difference. They compared two high-carb diets (just one even higher than the other) and found no difference ?
So it doesn't actually say anything about an actual low-carb diet, because they didn't test a low-carb diet.

30-50g carbohydrates per day isn't high carb. Average carbs per day are 225-325g.

@@judylloyd7901 50g is high carb for me (as in negative consequences when I go that high). I generally eat less than 20g per day

OK so let me say I lost 50kg (over 100lbs) on The WW program in 13 months. I was insulin resistant, had NAFLD and was prediabetic with High Blood pressure. I ate low fat and lots of fruit but also medium protein. I did cut out refined carbs or so I thought, and unfortunately did not cut out seed oils as most these products promoted low fat. Cutting out refined carbs and low fat made my points low. But when I went on maintenance religiously my weight started to come back on. I had results done and found that I was still prediabetic, still had NAFLD although my blood pressure had come done, my bloods were still no good and I was still very IR. I then found more information about IR and started on controlling my Macro nutrients, did TR eating and intermittent fasting and changed to real food and no seed oils and good fats, after 12 months my NAFLD had disappeared my triglyceride/HDL ratio went from 1.2 to 0.33. I basically went keto with most of my total carbs below 30gms per day. What I think is the WW program helped me initially reduce the amount I ate and cut out refined carbs but I think TR eating, watching macro nutrients and eating the right amount of protein has made me the healthy person I am today.
My HOMA-IR is now .4 it was over 2. I do resistance training in the form of swimming 1.5kms 5 days a week and aqua aerobics.
I am 66 years old and have never been this healthy since my 20s.
Thank you for all your information it is amazing.

We're all ❄. Unique. Studies are guidelines and a primary care provider who LISTENS is rare.
I stumbled onto paleo low carb diet and activity three years ago, post COVID19.
30 lbs lighter and appetite control after 6 months was MY epiphany.
Now OMAD, my chest is bigger than my stomach. I'll be 69 in June and look forward 70. Every 6 months I'm stronger, more lean and improved metabolic numbers, A1C was 5.5 a year ago, now 5.2.
Listen to your body, teenagers or nursing home folks. It's the best guide. IMHO 💪🙏
P.S. I drink my ration of 🍻 every night. What's your opinion re alcohol IF it doesn't affect your health?

Would you comment o CPIR -what happens to insulin that’s released but there’s no food? Like fasting with water that has 5drops of stevia...

Insulin release is in response to and more or less in proportion to carbohydrates intake. Artificial sweetener intake also causes insulin release which lowers blood glucose which triggers release of glucagon release. This prevents severe hypoglycemia. Before glucagon correcting hypoglycemia, it triggers hunger and eating.

Read Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes. Hard read, but worth it. The lay version is called, Why we Get Fat.
