The Friends of the Kirklees Light Railways 17th Annual Gala Weekend
Whistlestop Valley
Sunday 10th September 2023
An intensive timetable was operated at Whistlestop Valley for the 17th Annual Kirklees Light Railway Steam & Diesel Gala. The theme was locomotives designed by Henry Greenly with three visiting engines, joining the home fleet of Badger, Hawk, Owl, Fox and Sian (and Toby).
Visiting Locomotives
Centurion "River Esk" (Davey Paxman & Co. built 1923) from the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway
"Synolda" (Bassett-Lowke built 1912) from the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Museum
"Green Goddess" (Davey Paxman & Co. built 1925) from the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway
Video from throughout Sunday, including the Shelly or Bust special at the end of the day with all the steam locomotives in one train from Clayton West to Shelly and back.

Nice to see Sian again! I seem to recall her being on the Fairboune Railway near Barmouth when I was a youngster. Still looks as fit as she did the. I just wish I could say the same for me all these years later! Must be time I went in to the shops for a refit.

Looks a great railway and one I need to visit. Are your shots all from public accessible location or do you have a lineside pass? I ask because i'm planning to visit a lot of lines in the new future and I like to have a look through your catalogue to see what shots are available before I visit.

Yep. 15" gauge track, same as the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch, the Ravenglass & Eskdale and the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway.
