I think its a wake up call for gamers that they do have the power to change the industry and finally stop this triple modernist slop fest. The shills are losing now and their excuses don't work anymore. Its time for gaming to leave this slop era.
Also most of helldivers 2 is made up of gamers from the old era so they don't stand for modern gaming slop

Funny how this occurred almost immediately after they faced similar backlash when they censored Stellar Blade (which also has petition going to have the changes reversed). But what I loved about this situation with Helldivers 2 (along with others such as Bud Light) is it's living proof that big business is ultimately nothing without the consumer, and that if consumers band together they can force these corporate heads to make decisions in favor of them. Always remember, The customer is always right and vote with your wallets.

    • @shreksnow1918

A petition won’t do anything to make Sony reverse course. My boy Josh Moon of Kiwi Farms (wonderful website that has brought various disgusting child abusers and zoosadists to justice) had an EXCELLENT MATI (Mad at the Internet) segment where he played clips of a bunch of barely out of breath mush mouths having sperg fits about Stellar made and said that instead of crying about this they should instead crowdfund a lawsuit to sue Sony for false advertising (that the game wouldn’t get any censorship). The way you win is by hurting them using money. The reason the HellDivers 2 situation was successful is because it would’ve costed Sony lots money if they didn’t reverse that HORRIBLE decision.

I think this situation and the last few months have shown the real reasons modern gaming has gotten so bad. I've repeated myself many times on it, but the main reason is the people who are making games nowadays, hate gamers and fun. They only seek to use games as a soapbox for their ideology or profit reasons.
I think the worst part is how the fortnite model deceived so many gamers. Modern gaming now is about deception, Its about tricking gamers on a surface level into thinking everything is okay and better than ever. The fortnite model was created as an alternative to the lootboxes. Where instead of MTXs being gameplay related they had the tagline of "only cosmetic", New SBMM systems where made, known as EOMM (engagement optimized matchmaking) That would "help the noobs not be curve stomped and quit the game", Than you had developers being active on twitter and "listening to our feedback". Than you have the stories and lore of these games which are "ever changing and the player has a big impact in"
all seems fine at surface level. But the truth is all of this is deception. It deceives people into thinking its a consumer friendly and fair system. but its really not. The microtransactions are all overpriced, at 30 to 40 dollars where I live now. For one skin and useless emotes, Most of these skins are where most of the games budget goes too and they often break the artstyle of the game. Battlepasses are just paid progression systems and are purposely grindy so that players have to put in so much work and effort to the point that it feels like a job to play the game, which is by design because they don't want you to have fun, they want to drain you until you give up and fork over some cash with fomo. They use fomo to psyop you into feeling the need to buy things quickly. they don't have to have a limited time on things (despite what zoomers think, they actually think there are limited quantities of these items), But they do it artificially.
Speaking of psyops. EOMM, While it at first appears to be a more advanced and better version of SBMM. Its actually designed to make things not fun. EOMM is designed to psyop the player into losing as much as they can take. so they spend as much time in the game as possible which brings up the chance they could go into the shop. Speaking of shops, The bundles you buy in shops, in these games. if you buy them. the game rewards you with bot lobbies of non players in multiplayer matches. they make you play agiasn't weaker players so that you can not only show the product you bought, but also to psyop you into thinking the store is making you a better player. So its not about "protecting the noobs" or "equity" Its about money.
Now onto the stories, The stories of these live service games suck. They are stories that require you to read things outside the games, like books or shows or comics. To understand the lore and to add insult to injury some of the story events can never be replayed so you will never experience it. instead you would have to watch some youtuber explain it all for you. Infact thats what they do, They use youtubers to make up lore for them and they use that as story. Its fnaf style story telling. Just have the community make up stuff for you and claim it was the plan all along and don't even bother to put that story properly in the game. You also fake polls in these live service games. Fortnite had one where if you spend gold bars on a poll you could decide what would or wouldn't get unvaulted. and they claim thats a worthy player impact when you already know the player wont have any impact on the story.
Than finally the developers listening to feedback. They don't listen to feedback, they only will listen to anything that positive, no negative criticism, because anything negative is shunned and banned away. In fact these modern developers can't even humble themselves to listen to their community half the time or properly care.
So with all of this, you can see why people don't like the modern live service model. Its built on deception of tricking people into thinking its better than what we have before. But the truth is, its worse than before. because atleast back in the lootbox days, youtubers, influencers, gamers would admit that its bad. But not anymore.
See the companies realized something. They found out how much power youtubers had over the opinions of people on the internet, So what do you do when you have players that can see through your corpo talk. Well you get the youtubers to do the corpo talk for you. So alot of these companies, they pay the youtubers to shill. Be it with early flights out to play things early or review copys. All of that. than the youtubers, make the defenses, the excuses. Such as "we just grew up", "it doesn't matter", "Its only cosmetic" All of that was started by youtubers that got paid to shill. which bleeds into their audiences. than they become shills. Thus creating the issue with people shilling so much. Because now you have got a generation of gamers who will defend these corporations to the bone. Its either because they don't know any better, they are afflicted with the company in some way or because, the most dark reason, for ideological reasons. Alot of these people defending the game, are doing it because modern gaming, lets be honest sides with their political opinions and due to that they see the game as a soapbox for their opinions and a way to convert more to their side, propaganda, so they defend it, even if they know its bad.
So after all of this, The situation seems bleak. But for the past few months we've gotten alot of smaller studio hits, Because these developers where focused on fun. Not BS modern values that aren't help to anything. helldivers 2 comes and proves the entire triple A industry wrong. No we didn't just "grow up" Gaming can be fun as it did before. and the shills despise that helldivers 2 has broken down all their excuses they've made for years. its taken only 3 months to destroy all their flimsy arguments and show gamers what real fun is. Non of this static competitive BS. They told us "it didn't matter" to psn and they got so butthurt when sony walked it back. They are so desperate right now because the time is up. The era of fortnite model is coming to a close. Gamers and people are starting to realize just how bad this era has been and how bad these people are for everything they have pulled. No more excuses, No more gaslighting, No more straw manning. The people they shunned for the past 6 years now have a voice again and people are starting to see the truth.
btw they also got rid of the PSN requirement and CMs for helldivers 2. So thats a positive step forward. But still long way to go before they build trust up back
Sorry for the long comment. I just had alot to say on this.

People do not own the games anymore. It is more like you have the company's permission to play the game and I think people are beginning to see that. But I think that is also another reason why so many games are always online anymore. It's just like subscribing to a cable network in a way. Although even if there were more physical copies of games being sold with how games and gaming networks are being sold I highly doubt that we could go back to the classic ways games were played. Aside from single player only games that make an effort to not have any online aspects aside from achievements, I do not think we'll ever keep our modern games. I love the fact that i can just put in my copy of Splinter Cell on the PS2 and it works. What happens if steam goes down? You cant play your steam games. And if you are playing something like the new Hitman games you do not get a rating or unloch achievments in offline mode be that by choise or your internet goes out. ISome of these problem may go away if you just had games that did not rely on game launchers like steam but had there own thing going on. Like how you used to be able to load old games like Mechwarrior in your PC until windows got so advanced that it would not read the old disk and play the game. No steam, EA, Uplay, or any random launcher was involved. Just the game. Just plug and play. I do not see that returning though.

    • @BrokenCircle1
      @BrokenCircle1  Місяць тому

Haven't seen you in a while. Hello.
Yeah I miss the days when launchers weren't a thing. It's absurd especially because alot of companies use launchers for nefarious purposes. For example the game WW3 by Farm 51 implemented a launcher (even though for ages there wasn't one) that intentionally downloaded the game slow to take up about two hours. This meant the game was technically running so your 2 hour refund window closed by the time you actually got to try the game...the problem? The ONLINE ONLY game had no players. So no game and no refund. Horrible.
It's a shame what gaming has become.

But wow. I did not know that about the WW3 game. That is just depressing honestly that they felt that they could implement something like that and think they could get away with it. I MIGHT cover it again one day to see where it's at. At least many are now seeing just how much of a trap BattleBit Remastered truly is. Ever since you made your video revealing a dark (yet surprisingly elusive) fact about the game's censorious nature, I took it upon myself to buy the game to see how bad these problems were (and to refund it afterwards). You were right. Already I hated what I witnessed during my first playthrough of BBR and got my refund.
I tried it again via a Steam Free Weekend to see if anything changed for the better. Nothing. Same old problems and they even got worse since.
From now on, I refuse to trust any game that functions via a GaaS model, regardless of the business class of the gaming company (yes, even A1 developers). Titanfall 2's hackeroo disaster finally convinced me to never trust any live service again.
I see the same problems with Helldivers 2 as well. While I appreciate their stance against Sony's draconian decision, Arrowhead Game Studios are hardly any better themselves. Their CMs on Twatter were also disrespecting gamers (particularly PC ones) who were upset about Ghosts of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT being region-blocked throughout most of the planet. Seems even A2 companies are proving themselves to be untrustworthy. Then again, AGS is no longer an A2 company. it`s funny and sad at the same time how there are big corporations known for their own bullshit
EA: having extremely high expectations which are nearly impossible to meet and when that expectation isn`t met they go out and say ,,lack luster sales`` (they put dead space 2 remake on shelf just because first remake wasn't number one most selling game in USA or whatever, also they sabotaged titanfall 2 by releasing it between battlefield 1 and COD infinite warfare which btw didn`t receive good reception, but after seeing fanbase of titanfall 2 instead of letting devs make proper sequel they made apex legends which butchers titanfall lore as the time goes on)
activision: milking COD by releasing it every single year and making literal expansions be sold on full game price, also making something like 7 game development teams work on COD instead of games that those dev teams worked on in the past (for example raven software worked on game called singularity which is highly underrated and even teased possible sequel which obviously didn`t happen for clear reasons)
microsoft: earning money through microtransactions rather than actual product itself because microtransactions are needed to have slightly better experience with their products (or the fact that they force 343 to work on game they absolutely despise instead of hiring someone who actually like source material and is willing to properly respect it)
ubisoft: rebranding games over and over with new looks and number on cover, taking away games from customers saying we should feel comfortable not owning their games (i only own for honor from them and i`m glad that`s the only game i will ever buy from them), recently they even had audacity to price their game for 100 dollars and day 1 DLC which was actually content made before game even came out and was separated from base game just for extra money, not to mention physical copy needing internet to download the fucking game (yes i speak of star wars outlaws)
sony: either making their so called movie games that are annoyingly overrated or actually publish good game which they have nothing to do with yet still fucking up with unneeded interference
this is why indie and AA games are lot more fun and worth both money and time because they are making games for the sake of entertainment instead of just earning money, big corpos see game development as a full blown business which can be true at some point but purpose of product you produce must remain, entertainment

The Beginning reminds me of Palworld. Everyone was praising it so hard, for simply not being woke. Spent the $40, played the game for a while, and it's basically just... okay. It felt like a $10 maaaybe $15 experience to me. It's a clearly unfinished game, and seems to have memory leak issues, as it completely freezes my steam deck after around an hour of constant play. And it seems like they want to do this inflated sense of importance with Stellar Blade as well. I'm sure it will be a fine game, but long term, nobody making a stink about it is doing it any favors by generating more hype for it than it naturally deserves.

Only thing is, I think the gameplay is really great, but it has been on a decline essentially due to the game’s overwhelming success and the Devs overbalancing and altering the gameplay. It’s now my 3rd most played game on Steam after CS2 and Halo MCC

What's hard to learn, Sony? Stop toying with the same drugs that Xbox and the rest of Microsnot has been for the past decade, you won this generation because you made games that worked and were actually fun, not playing parole officer and skating the edge of the law with online only drms and anti fun mandates. It's unacceptable when anyone does this. We own our games, pound sand.

As for DRM and anti-piracy protection, the best anti-piracy protection is to make a great game and make it easily affordable by players worldwide. AAA titles being sold for $80 or more is ridiculous and an obvious moneygrab. Especially because 99% AAA titles are unplayable on day 1, riddled with bugs, completely unoptimized, missing any originality, etc.

The real reason Sony backtracked was because Arrowhead messed up and removed the requirement at launch because of server issues, which allowed Steam to sell the game in regions that couldn’t make PSN accounts. Sony was worried about lawsuits, so they dropped the linking requirement. If they had a system ready for those players to keep playing, it would have happened. The game was and is a smashing success with just the PS5 players, which has had something like 20x the amount players they intended.
Sony just cared about lawsuits, not players. I’m glad they got screwed.
