Honestly, I'd fuck with a Hellboy TV series in the vein of early Supernatural. Nice hourish long monster of the week horror episodes where the BPRD shows up and fixes the situation while also scaring the fuck out of whoever they saved.
That sounds so amazing. The BPRD and hellboy could travel all over the world like when they traveled to mystical Japan to deal with two storm demon brothers in sword of storms. Something like that could be a special two or three part episode.
That would be perfect. Maybe they could even tie the (fingers crossed) Supernatural Season 16 in with a crossover between the Men of Letters and the BPRD. I actually enjoyed the Hellboy reboot.
I'm on board with this too. They could just take the original comic books and start adapting them to the screen. And while I haven't looked yet, I am certain that volume up on volume of fanfiction available for adaptation when they run out of comic books.. I'd even go for the cast of this movie.

Honestly I think the timing was pretty good for releasing a movie like this, a lot of comic book fans have been getting frustrated at how many stories in the movies seem to revolve around similar threats (oh no, a big sky beam is threatening the world... again.) or similar levels of stakes, I found it really refreshing to see a story that focuses on a small scale problem and reinforces the stakes by having us learn about the characters so we can empathise with them and their situation. You could argue that following a beloved comic so closely is basically cheating, but looking at other comic book adaptations over the years it becomes pretty clear that NOT screwing up a beloved story is apparently harder than it would seem.

I may be in the minority but as a horror fan who doesn't like the generic polished look certain movies have since the 2000s this is the first Hellboy film that really caught my attention. I hope the director and Mignola chose the look because the story will be gritty and not fantasylike. 17:07 This is why I can never think of Hellboy as anyone other than Ron Pearlman. The guy just comes across as a masculine cynic too well not to be an experienced hunter of evil. Hellboy 1 and 2 have a special place in my heart. Playing on the flaws of hyper-masculinity was one of the things that made hellboy so fun and comical too like when yohan declared that he could "take" hellboy in the locker room. The masculine side of hellboy is to face all oppoents and yohan seemed like no big deal compared to the other horrors hellboy had faced before. Underestimating yohan was a silly mistake though. Legendary hilarious scene.
I miss Ron Perlman’s face. No one seems to truly pull off the look. This Hellboy looks so plain even compared to the previous movie. I like this direction with leaning away from the superhero flashiness to the creepy monsters and witches. That seems like a good idea for a Hellboy series/ movie. It does look very low budget in many angles though. I don’t remember seeing any trailers for this movie.
I'm still looking forward to watching this. After the mess of a film in the 2019 version, scaling back Hellboy to an indie horror film makes sense and is kinda where I always thought Hellboy should have started. when the skinwalker women was entering her body acting hellishly weird and he draw his gun to shoot her but was stopped by the other women that was with him was the funniest thing in the movie lol
I like this hell boy a lot of people are complaining about how small this version is and I have a theory about it and the reason I think he’s smaller is because he’s just a younger version of hell boy almost like the new Robert Pattinson bat man who’s coming in to his own.
I noticed his stone hand rarely moved. I guess the budget explains why it looked so stiff and lifeless this time around. Still a better adaptation than the last one. Far from what the original 2 managed to achieve though
Yeah his tail barely moved at all as well. I can forgive it being a small budget film and all though. I agree it’s still better than the 2019 reboot though
I just watched it and it did feel like a really long Hellboy TV series episode, just like MIB3 felt like a closure to the animated series. When i saw this had a 4.5 on imdb i was expecting a crow like disaster, but i though the movie was actually pretty good. deserves at least a healthy 6.
I liked the idea of making a more horror centric hellboy film, now Ron Pearlman did awesome bringing the character to life, but the comics were meant to be more gritty and violent than most others. The movie was decent and I liked a good portion of the film but there were parts that felt like they didn't belong. This would have been an awesome nod to a possible pre-release show series with an opening film. Get the directors of supernatural to help make a hellboy show 👍
I really loved the 1st 2 movies and didn't like the reboot much I was never got into the comics tho This one seems to be more catered for the comic enjoyers and is lower budget. Seems like it'll be a hit for the comic lovers and not so much with the general public
Jack was supposed to have his yellow eyes added in post for Hellboy the Crooked Man, but for some reason the studio chose to leave his natural eye color.
I wish Hellboy was like physically big again, sure he can take a beating but he's not supposed to be just a man he has super strength, they should try something like the guy who did Swamp Thing. Or 3D animation wouldn't hurt to get the details going.
Had my doubts, like everybody else did. But my doubts were squashed the moment i watched it. Was fun from beginning to end. If this is what they can do on a shoestring budget, i do wonder what they can do had they had a bigger budget. In terms of stakes, it's a much smaller scale compared to the adventures of Del Toro's Hellboy, nothing world ending. But it still felt as fun to me personally, that i wouldn't mind to see more of this style. I read some of the negative audience reviews at Rotten Tomatoes and some were laughable. Obviously just hating to hate, hating it cause it's not Del Toro's Hellboy. I mean one person complained that it was "Dark, night colors all the time". And most just say it's bad without elaborating on what makes it bad. One even said that the Crooked Man seemed liked a threat and ended up being a "piece of cake". My guy, he was close to killing Hellboy had he not received help from Tom Ferrell. There were also some complaints about the CGI, and honestly i thought it wasn't that bad, i felt they blend right in. Dare i say it's not even as bad as the CGI of some of the recent Marvel and DC movies, and those had a high budget. Some even say the plot is confusing. Like, how? I loved Del Toros Hellboy films as much as anyone, and they were great. But some of these people are just so blinded by nostalgia and filled with so much bias, it's palpable. I'd honestly just laugh if i see someone say that "this is not Hellboy" or something. Considering Mike Mignola himself wrote for the film. You can't get more authentic than the writing of the creator of Hellboy himself. And speaking of Hellboy, i did love Jack Kesy's performance. He may not be the Hellboy that i grew up with. But he felt authentic nonetheless. He sounds the part, and the way he acted it out was good imo. He's not as quippy as Del Toro's version, but during times that he is, it felt appropriate. It felt like it's the right amount. Overall, pleasantly surprised. Much better than the 2019 reboot imo.
I have to say I liked this Hellboy the best. Hellboy is always a man of little words in the books and they really got him in this film. Plus, they didn`t have anything like that dumbass love story between him and Liz or they I want to be beloved by the world like in the Del Toro films. Had this movie had a bigger budget it would have been a perfect Hellboy stand-alone movie.
It's my third favorite Hellboy movie. The first 2 are definitely Del Toro's movies - but the Crooked Man is by far by leaps & bounds - way better than that 2019 release. I just wish it would have come to theaters here in the States. It would have been fun to watch in a theater. I just purchased it digitally. Definitely a fun horror movie that feels get close to the comic.

Get the directors of supernatural to help make a hellboy show 👍
Wow, I didn’t know that there was a new Hellboy movie before this video. I’ve seen more ads for Nosferatu than for this.
The movie was actually good. Had a good self contained story, acceptable fights and far better than the 2019 movie
I really loved the 1st 2 movies and didn't like the reboot much
I was never got into the comics tho
This one seems to be more catered for the comic enjoyers and is lower budget. Seems like it'll be a hit for the comic lovers and not so much with the general public
How about you cover the Monsters from the TV show FROM from MGM. I highly recommend it Nyatt!
It's a little jarring that this Hellboy doesn't have the bright yellow eyes that he's usually known for.
Jack was supposed to have his yellow eyes added in post for Hellboy the Crooked Man, but for some reason the studio chose to leave his natural eye color.
Money issue probably
@@jalocool2807it probably looked not so good
I wish Hellboy was like physically big again, sure he can take a beating but he's not supposed to be just a man he has super strength, they should try something like the guy who did Swamp Thing.
Or 3D animation wouldn't hurt to get the details going.
Right off the bat, ya boi resigning his Job.
In my opinion, it's already not a good sign that this is the first time I've heard this movie.
Is the review for Joker up next?
"Firing the cinematographer to send him a message" What was the message? "you don't work here anymore"?
I feel most of the films shortcomings were due to the budget. The acting, screenplay, story and setting were all decent to good.
I was very interested in hearing your opinion on this, hadn’t been to seen it and was hopeful as a fan of the comics. I actually greatly enjoyed the Del Toro films they’re a favorite of my girlfriends and I but I figured she wouldn’t like the vibe of this one and looks like that’s true 😂
For some reason this gives me hunt showdown vibes
Honestly, i liked the reboots. I absolutely love the originals, but i also thought the new direction the reboots were a fun, darker direction instead of just the more whimsical cases Hell-Boy usually takes on
Ikr Harbour did a fantastic and hilarious job of his own version, I can't wait to watch this one
no one, will ever, ever.... top Ron as hellboy
Damn Jimmy went a completely different direction after his rodeo days and working on the four 6's...
Ron pearlman the only one that can fill those shoes. 😊the first movie was truly setting the bar ,the others are a watch but not up to the original bar ,you would think they would do a better job seeing they had 20 years to get it right😊
Straight away, a problably long train ride.
Skol! 🤝🍻
I want this to be a secret Pilot to a Hellboy TV Series ista style like Supernatural or The X-Files...
Bad as hell boy 3 was..the end seen was actually wicked fire..the whole apocalypse thing when he gets his horns..chefs kiss..rest of the movie, shit and piss
Could you do the Savage Land from Marvel Comics and T600 Terminator?
I have no idea about this!
I hadn’t heard about this but I kinda wanna make it happen now
The second half wasnt great but the first was damn good
They prolly added Bobby last minute so they could receive government funding of some sort.
