The Anchorage Downtown Partnership reports that its “ambassadors,” who patrol downtown on foot, have recently seen an increase of aggression, and in some cases violence, from Anchorage’s homeless, especially young adults and teens. The nonprofit estimates there are at least 200 people who live on the streets in the downtown area. A portion of this group sleeps in alleys and doorways, and under heat exhaust vents.
Each morning the Partnership's security team rouses the regulars before the majority of business owners, employees and customers show up. The rest of day they help keep order on downtown streets and inside businesses, like coffee shops, where some of homeless are not welcome because they loiter, steal and harass the general public.
On Friday morning, Feb. 5, Alaska Dispatch News spent about three hours with the interim director of security for the Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Michael Knecht, to get a firsthand glimpse into how he helps manage Anchorage’s ongoing challenges with the downtown homeless.
STOP having Children if you cannot raise them correctly or cannot afford to bring them up as responsible adults. They turn out miserable, in PAIN, Homeless and Trouble for everyone else!

now that Republicans banned abortion in multiple states thanks to Trump there are going to be a lot more homeless people and people in prison 20 years from now. Thanks Trump.
The city I live in the homeless are so aggressive that small businesses are having to shut down because they are aggressive toward clients who venture into those businesses. Ever since our safe injection site opened up things went from bad to worse.
Dump them in Ukraine.
Safe injection? Like is heroin legal in your city?
@@DavidValdezBigWaveDave not the only injectable
@David Valdez... Legal or not doesnt have anything to do with it. They tried to open a safe injection site here in Philadelphia a year or 2 ago, and it almost happened. Then the whole idea got shut down. I didnt know other cities actually had them already

I feel bad for homeless people but I'm a city worker who gets payed shit and when a homeless person says there ga na stab me for making them get up so i can clean up after them, I have zero sympathy for you.

They cuddle with one another and share orgasms with one another too when the weather gets cold
To the people that don't live in a downtown area claiming "they're just sleeping! Leave them alone!". They're sleeping NOW, but they're about to wake up and drink literally ALL DAY (often vomiting it back up and urinating at the same time) screaming, insulting and catcalling all of your customers, family and friends. The more you stay inside and do nothing, the more they believe that the streets are their home and they will become harder and harder to move. 17 years in a downtown setting. Just wait until your daughter comes home crying after a great day at school because she got whistled at by a bunch of drunks camped out infront of your house.
It's sad. Ship them to the north east in winter and let nature take care of the issue. I only feel sympathy for homeless people that are actively trying to better their lives. These aggressive loser drug addicts are a waste of resources.
Getting whistled at is nothing, geeez.

And that’s what dope sick looks like
Stay off drugs kids just say um NO

Put them into a labor camp. You work, you eat, you have a place to sleep, and you make a little cash.
I live in nor cal, and I can attest that the younger homeless tend to be unusually agressive. Be as nice as you want, and watch them get insanely agressive when you don't give them whatever they may request. They're especially vocal when you're wearing headphones and they think you can't hear them. With the unbelievable prevalence of their sort in my area, I'm lucky I'm a big guy with a beard and "one of those faces".
Yeah, there's a lot in my town (I'm in Nor*Cal too and about 28 myself lost everything and have been homeless but worked my way out of it more than once and I'm doing OK now but being/becoming homeless is not something you have a choice about once it happens to you. At least I didn't..) but I don't get fucked with either. I sure do get asked for cigs a lot, but nobody is going to start shit with me...(except for this one old man one time, who was telling me he didn't like me and was telling me to hit him. Like I'd go to jail just to knock you out I don't hit my elders)

Yeah... they do feed them well. And it's slightly warmer.
Most so called "San Francisco homeless" came here from red states. Las Vegas and Reno Nevada were dumping the mentally ill on the streets at night by the bus load. Los Angeles has a much larger homeless problem than S.F.
I am losing my housing and was thinking about buying a one way ticket to sanfrancisco coastal cities are warmer in the winter.

Try getting rid of the agressive and threatening drugged up, drunk, combative homeless that Always seem to be gathered in front of the fourth Avenue market Place. I don’t know how many times the police had to be called to get rid of them. Every single night they keep coming back. Listen to all the fights and arguments that happen in front of the panhandle bar. I wish they would shut that place down to get rid of some of the bad element.

All it takes is a bucket of water...
Was assaulted by a rather aggressive young man while I sat at a Bus Stop. Said it was his Home and his bed. He threw trash form the bus stop trash bin on me then kicked my phone out of my hand when i pulled it out to call the cops. They are still looking for him. I carry a stun gun now. The minute he got physical i lost all sympathy for him, now he's a criminal and he is a danger to others.

I'v tried that myself in my town. when they ask for money and you offer any other kind of help- food, a ride to a shelter. even help with getting work or treatment, they are NOT INTERESTED! Most are only interested in getting MONEY, and keeping their habit that got them into this situation in the first place. If you wont give them money, and you let them stay around, they progress to stealing you blind!
Yes. This is exactly why I spit on all drunks and junkies I see on the street. And then smile wide to all other bypassers, giving them the thumbs-up to indicate upstanding citizenry. Just kidding, I just spit on 'em.
You don't spit on anyone, nerd / keyboard warrior. Maybe into your hand, at most.
Money you can trade, food they get for free. It's not hard, pan handling on a highway can earn around $80 a day if they're lucky. Performers get much more. Most don't realize they can end their suffering and will blow that money but, other understand it's a way out. Just take a chance.
To the peaceful homeless people give them a nice shelter with a peaceful staff... but to the ones who are violent towards other people (including other homeless people) give them what they deserve, a place with armed guards. Mixing up the peaceful clean homeless with the violent ones is making homeless shelters less efficient.
I live in a nice clean shelter with a peaceful staff. The violent Men are banned and/or jailed. I still am striving to secure my own housing. It's not pleasant to have 500 roommates.
This is what happens when "participation awards" are the norm. Kids today are conditioned to be unmotivated.
What's the excuse then for homeless people going back 100 years?
Most of them run away from home cuz they don't want any rules
Keven alvarado or because they don’t want to be raped or abused by older relatives
And who died and made the rulemakers God?
There's a lot of comments on here denigrating these homeless people for being drug addicts, not wanting to work, laziness, etc....although that's certainly behind some of the homeless problem, it's nowhere close to encompassing the reasons behind all of it. There's a great channel on UA-cam called "Invisible People" by a past homeless person who interviews homeless people in the US and Canada that's incredibly eye opening. You'll find the vast majority of homeless people were either aged out of Foster Care systems at 18 with no financial safety net due to never having any family to care for them or have fallen on hard times due to economic hardships or deaths in the family. I'm no bleeding heart liberal by a long shot, but at the end of the day these are human beings who are wanting of and deserving of compassion. They're our brothers and sisters.....give it a look if you would.
You dont know what your talking about.
I don't know exactly what you're refferring to, but I'll continue to believe that there are people who are the cause of there own suffering and there are others who genuinely are deserving of the help of others. Here's a fact: People are fallible. As a prior addict of 6 years myself, I know how Heroin/Fentanyl is so strong these days that mere hours without using it your body starts to shut down without it. Although I'm gainfully employed and make a fantastic living, my bad decisions could've possibly led to me losing everything I had. Without the help of others, I would probably be dead or homeless myself. Compassion for our brothers and sisters can't be lost.....ever.
I agree with you 100%. Some may be robbers, druggies, swindlers, etc., but they started out in a bad home usually. They are still human beings and of course, need someone to talk to, lend them a hand, and give them a shoulder to cry on. There is no reason why the government cannot build tiny houses for all of them. Once they have a home for themselves, they might find hope in life and change their life around. They need a place to call home and to rest their head in warmth and comfort. Not like an animal sleeping on a sidewalk.
I'm guessing you two live in Cali?
Then why don’t you invite them into your homes, let them sleep on your couch, eat your food? Let that compassionate heart of yours radiate.
Exactly some homeless don't want to follow law's and rules.
Your laws are corrupt fuck your system I hope the economy crashes and everyone ends up homeless I hope people get so desperate that they mob rich people's houses and kill them in the streets.
Johnny Six people already know how to make a honest living eventually even if the system crashes will know how to survive and not end up homeless on the streets
@@alexroman3682 It's not guaranteed. Do you just assume every homeless person isn't doing enough to try and get through their own problems? What would you know about it? Tell me. Do you think people honestly choose to live in an unsecured life barely surviving? If so, you need to be more educated about this bro. Homeless people say things they do sometimes because they're extremely ill in their psychological mind. Communication is imperative, people can't think straight. Do you know why that happens? Because of domestic violence at home, people kicked out of their house over sexual orientation, and cost of loving is way too high. The system we adapt to shouldn't be made more difficult for people to have a decent place to live and be secure. Speaking of impairments, I occasionally go by to by with a recovering alcoholic. He has amazing characteristics; Very high IQ, Educated in the field of mathematics, knows a ton about politics and networking, and he is very brilliant with computers. Why did he turn to alchol addiction? Because he literally lost his 2 children 8 years ago in a terrible car accident. He told me that this event caused so much distress in his life up to the point where he couldn't cry anymore, but rather cope with his pain by drinking. His wife passed away from stage 3 breast cancer by the way. I talk to him so often enough that I really do enjoy his company. He does get violent at times, but that's just because he went through so much pain in his life it really wears a person down. I don't ever assume what homeless people are because I don't know. All we can assume is that they're human and that they're struggling really badly.
I was homeless almost five years, I was housed in July 2018. The homeless now are nothing like people were and definitely harsh drugs rule the streets and camps reside, not all but the coping in life has changed that much more 😔

Anger is one of the least talked about causes of homelessness. I never did hard drugs. I never had a mental illness I didn't have at least 85% control over. I had anger. It got me kicked out onto the street at one point, and I had to realize that I have the steering wheel of my life and I need to change the direction it's facing. So I did, and now I'm a landlord (oversimplification for the sake of brevity). I harnessed and trained that anger toward achieving positive goals, and now it's just another tool on the tool belt.

Reminds me of the "containment class" they had at my high school in the mid 1990s. Violent delinquents who would sit around all day playing Super Nintendo and eating snacks and being taught absolutely nothing. It wasn't even special ed, but a daycare center for those punks.
One of them later participated in the beating and murder of a student in a nearby city, and the others I imagine are in prison, homeless, or dead.
The only reason that "class" existed was because of the mandatory school attendance laws.

They need the security guy on the streets of California.
sad truth, homeless people are protected by california law 😢
Why can't we just exile them all?
How about we exile you?
@@dadtheripper Why would you want to? I'm a law abiding citizen, who is a net gain on the tax base.
@@MagnesVestergaard Because you're a vile human being, full of hate, who is more concerned about taxes than people. When 8 people have more combined wealth than 4 billion people the problem with the tax base is not the mentally ill or the addicted.
@@dadtheripper I'm concerned with living in a safe environment. These homeless are evil. They appeal to your sympathy to take advantage of you. The jobs are there, but they refuse to work them.
The Purge, it's viable.
Love that idea!!!
try being one of those 'scary, sleeping homeless people'. I have.
sorry I'd rather take your word for it
Uncle Chuckles lol
Been there, and I'm doing it again unfortunately! Times have changed and it's much harder to find a way off the streets. Many people are 1 paycheck away from being homeless!
I was homeless for awhile and it was horrible! So, here I am 25 years later and possibly might be homeless again. I have no idea what to do.
I'll bet I could create a pretty neat shelter in the woods, but how do I get around the wildlife?
Drugs and alcohol always get the blame. I was surprised at first when I realized that drugs and alcohol are common uses in most adult lives I’ve encountered. The difference is that these professionals have their priorities in check.
These bums never learned moderation and responsibility.
@Bort Stimpton
I can’t argue with those stats. Now if we can just prevent unfit parents from reproducing, there might be a solution!
@@StannisTheMannis305 how about we prevent J.B. from profiting off of warehouse associates who generate tens to hundreds of thousands a night for him without giving them proper compensation to afford a home alone bro
Say no to drugs yes to vr
All of a sudden the purge movie doesn’t seem so abstract.
That movie was gay
Please!
This is what they’re like.
That guy just needs to leave! The world has gotten so depressing
Why don't they live in those buildings
Honestly taking a job is not that bad
