Thank you very much for showing this. I am slowly getting back into RC airplanes after too many years off. Foam is "new technology" for this old guy so this helps answer a number of questions I had. Thank you again, keep em' flying.

Yes Nate we need more videos like this. Question: My Apprentice, Opterra and Cirrus all crashed and I used normal 'Evo-stick' adhesive because these Eflite planes were made with Z foam. Is your plane made with EPP or other foam that melts with normal glue?

Why do you no longer make unboxing and build videos?

    • @TheRcSaylors
      @TheRcSaylors  7 місяців тому

We tried to do that very briefly. It takes a lot of extra time which unfortunately we don’t have a lot of right now. We have a 5 year old and a 1 year old, and they demand a lot of attention as well as other projects/ life in general. Trust me, I’d love to do more unboxing build videos and hope to get back into them one day! 👍💯😎⚓️

I'm sure you never could get anyone on the phone,
if you have a problem you need fixed quick, or if I need some good quality advice, they always want to email back-and-forth, and not in a reasonable amount of time, I might add.
A-Main, and Hobby Zone are the best if you make a phone call.

When I buy online and not at the shop, I try to go to a link provided by someone I watch to help support them in rotation to try and get everybody (can't support just one,, wouldn't be fair)
And while double checking with blankblankRC we noticed he didn't get paid on it...
I emailed them about this , BUT also gave leeway that since it was a pre-order he might not see it until release (since they hold off on taking your $ until shipment)
I did say lead but I was obviously talking about a UA-cam channel link.
      Here's their reply
      " Dear sir,
there is not a program where others get credit for leading customer to buy from our site.
Thank you for contacting Horizon Hobby Customer Service !

You can use a worm iron over bit of rag . It will expand the foam out.
Just warm enough not too hot and don't take too long. If you over do it the plane will look like seriously bad acne.

I am not a fan of Hot melt glue because when I tried repair a crack the heat melted the foam. Do what you like but I will stick to a wood glue that is waterproof and foam safe. It takes a dry time of over night so it is not as easy however my type A personality likes the look a little better.

    • @VitalArms

You just need a smaller hot glue gun. They run at a lower temp. Obviously you’ll do what you want but I fly at a busy field where it’s common to see 3-5 foam planes get wrecked in a day and back flying the same day with hot glue.

There are better ways to repair foam. It depends if you need the foam to flex and move or be stiff. ca medium or thin is the best for stiff fuselage type repairs. Especially if you add accelerator the ca will dry immediately. Gorilla glue or foam tack for anything you need flex on. Some circumstances you can epoxy as well. The only time I’ve used hot glue is to set a receiver in a location that can be removed easily and to secure servo plugs at the receiver.

Last time I tried to use hot glue on foam it destroyed the foam and made it unusable . Use foam tack adhesive it's much better no electricity required and sets in about 30 minutes
