Sounds like y'all are making fun of our little town. It's a treasure and a great place to live. My wife is a McKenzie, was born and raised in Sopchoppy. We are proud of our little town. A whole lot of great people were born and raised here and a whole lot of good folks still live here.
When you made the left on Mckenzie Place, I grew up in the block house on the right. The house on the corner of Park, where you made the right, was my uncles house. The white wood frame house was my grandmothers home, and the next house on that side with the chain link fence, across from the park was another uncle. Great memories there…. My family goes back many generations there.
I lived in Sopchoppy for a couple of years. Recently had to move back to GA to take care of my Mother. I miss it. I loved how quiet it was. Not far from the water. I might move back down there one day. TFS. There are a lot of beautiful places in that area. Check out Bald Point and Alligator Point. Gorgeous.
We hit their IGA for camping food when we went down to Ocklocknee river state park. It's the only real grocery store ( other than the DG ) there if I'm not mistaken. Good meats for when we went crabbing! We bought chicken necks! But the crabs weren't biting ( the bait needed to be rotten and I did not know that lol ) so we et fresh but LOL river water soaked chicken Necks that night charred on our big campfire. Hey when y'all head back to Ga, try Madison. It's historic and lovely. I want to spend some real time there. Sopp choppy!
Look up Worm Grunting, Sopchoppy is the intergalactic hub for earthworms. Second Saturday of April it has a worm festival that draws 100 vendors and 5,000 people. It’s art and food mostly and they demonstrate worm grunting. Great Museum and Civic Brewing company has wonderful beer. Two music studios and a potter too. You should have stopped and met the Locals who run business here…potter is all wood fired stuff.
Dadgum Y'all are in Beautiful Sopchoppy Florida The Hometown of my Girlfriend Shanna Dee Hurley! She passed away on January 28, 2008 car accident. There is more to the Town if Y'all gone the other way. (Twice) it's small but it's Family tucked away from all the craziness of The Big City (Crawfordville and Tallahassee, Floridas Capital) God Bless Y'all and come back and do another video of the area! Don't laugh we are proud of what's left of Rural Florida. God Bless Y'all and Merry Christmas
I was hoping to see The old Church that Shanna showed me that they use to go to. It had been abandoned about 20 years when I saw it about 18 years ago. I think I saw it's replacement on the left as Y'all were driving. It was a Baptist Church. God Bless Y'all

Put on Florida and the majority of my life. I have a place in Tampa & also Frostproof. I would love to go there one day to visit.

we drove thru Alligator point many years ago on 98. cant wait to explore this area more. hopefully soon we can go thru there again.

I have roots in Wakulla County. There is a Historically black community called Buckhorn before you get to Sopchoppy.

Imagine what this place was like in the 80's? must have been unbearable, being from there and feeling trapped? I bet drugs have been a problem there.
No its a very peaceful town we have a few karens but no drug problems.
