@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 I agree that Robin had good reason to leave. Everyone talks about the battle of egos, but think about it: The Bee Gees was always a group effort, no matter who sang a particular lead. But in the song “First of May” (an admittedly beautiful song) that Stigwood chose for the release, there is no group contribution at all. Robin does zero, and Maurice only plays the piano - the twins don’t even get to harmonize in the background (at least there is harmony in “Lamplight”)! I can completely understand that Robin felt things were now just going to become 100% Barry, despite his songwriting contribution and incredible voice. (I would also imagine that it must have stung a bit to see his brother lauded as the front man because of his beauty while journalists referred to him as “ugly” and mocked his hair and teeth.) I always admire the way that the three of them talk about their breakup in later years, admitting that they needed that time apart to grow. Robin himself said they left the group as boys but came back together as men - well put! Moving on to your other point: As I watch more and more earlier footage, when Robin was pencil thin and awkward, I do think there is a delicate beauty waiting to bloom. And boy, did it ever bloom - he was gorgeous in the 1970s!
There's a reason the camera was on Barry, he was a natural when performing. Robin was as awkward as it gets, not knowing how to move or what to do with his body parts. The real proof was in videos such as this & How Deep is Your Love, just to name two of dozens.
@@kthorJust all the videos, really. It was worse when he was young, but he never got over that awkwardness.
