    I just replaced the white shell on my childhood DSi with a transparent one, and it still works! I just wanted to say, thank you for making this video, the advice you gave made this hard project much easier.

      No problem and thank you! I have never played Super Princess Peach but it is one that I would like to check out at some point! Our local game store has a complete copy that I’ve been eyeing for a bit but it’s like $50 so I need to look up some gameplay to see if I’d like it first

    wow. I thought I was going to switch the shell on my dsi but no way after watching this. I would break something for sure. Good work tho :)

      Thank you! It’s definitely doable but it’s something you’d want to take your time on if you try it. It’s much easier to avoid breaking something when you take your time with something like this

    I can't quite seem to get the back half of the top to slide/snap back on. It looks like the thing you slide into the hinge is blocking it from snapping in place. Any advice? I keep trying to fiddle with it tonight but it doesn't seem to be getting better.

    • @E.B._Tech
      @E.B._Tech  8 місяців тому

      Are you talking about the little metal ring that you slide into the hinge? If so leave that piece out until you get the top all put back together and wait till you go to put the bottom and the top together to put that piece back in. You have to be careful because that metal piece is usually a really tight fit going back in and you may have to press on it really hard to get it back into place so be very careful not to break anything or put too much pressure elsewhere when you do. I hope this helps!

    • @cheese.86
      @cheese.86 8 місяців тому

      @E.B._Tech thanks bro! I'll come back to the project later but I will keep this in mind👍 I forgot the ring at first and the little black hinge piece was sticking out too much. (Opposite side) I'll update you layer if I remember lol

    What do you do if one of the black cable connectors pop off and you can’t find it? Is it possible to get a replacement? Can you fasten the connection in another way?

    • @E.B._Tech
      @E.B._Tech  2 місяці тому +1

      Do you mean the black latches for the ribbon cables? If so I’ve actually been researching this myself for a 3DS I’ve been working on. It appears that you can buy that specific piece to replace the old one to make it fully latch again to make that connection properly and that doesn’t require any soldering. It does look like it’s a rather difficult and delicate process though and I don’t know if I can recommend it or not yet because I haven’t tried it for myself. I’m sorry if this is not much help. There are a couple good guides for it here on UA-cam that I watched and I would definitely recommend doing some research before attempting this

  • @Jestererratic

    I did this and when I turn it on the light briefly turns on and then the whole thing turns off. I checked all my ribbon cables multiple times. Any ideas as to what went wrong? It worked fine before

    • @E.B._Tech
      @E.B._Tech  2 місяці тому +1

      My advice would be to look over the ribbon cables really closely to make sure there is no damage or anything. If you checked them multiple times then I would assume they are seated properly but it wouldn’t hurt to maybe check them one more time for safe measure if you don’t find any indication of damage. If none of that helps it could possibly be a blown fuse but I wouldn’t know for sure without checking it with a multimeter first
      (Also off topic but nice pfp! I just finished playing Trials and Tribulations it was great)

      Thank you for watching! I’m sure you can do it! It is a tedious process but it’s not particularly difficult so long as you take your time with things and you’re careful as you do it. You’ll have to give an update on how it goes!

    Where do you recommend buying good quality shells from?

    • @E.B._Tech
      @E.B._Tech  3 місяці тому

      I’ve had really good luck with both ebay and amazon (ebay is a little more expensive but the shells I’ve gotten from there seem to be better quality) the main thing I recommend is just checking out the reviews before you buy!

      I’m not sure exactly what is wrong with your DS but I would double check that all the ribbon cables are plugged in all the way if I were you. I’ve done a couple now where I didn’t quite have the ribbon cable inserted all the way and the console won’t turn on but if even one of the cables isn’t fully connected it will keep the whole thing from turning on. I can’t promise this will help you but I certainly hope it does!
