    Missed the point of the REV 7. It's a alternative to a full turntable set-up. It's also club safe. I've used 1210's all my life, DMC comps; Vestax comps, and most club and bar decks are old, broken, no ground leads etc. Always hassle. Can't see anyone carrying two 1210's and a S7 to a gig, Especially if it's not local. This is a perfect and safe fix for open format Dj's. All the fun of a 1210 set up and none of the technical issues.

      As he said, There has been other Motorize controller in the same form for over 10 years. This is a first for Pioneer., a little late for the party. You can only put so many switches, button, bells and whisle on controllers and we have reach that max, you can only change their position. The real new magic will come from the software end for DJs, Better music and video management, light control, Sound quality control. Pioneer is starting to do the same mistake as Seraton has been doing, and that is playing it safe. Dj are not a safe animal because competition is fierce between us.

    Rev7 weight doesn’t compare to two turntables and a mixer. I currently have that setup and I hate the weight. Controller is made for portability and that’s what the Rev7 is. It’s definitely hyped because Pionner knocked out the park!

    Honestly can’t wait. My pre order is coming in in 7 days. Got on the first shipment. It’s everything I’ve wanted in a controller as lugging my PLX-1000’s and S9 with XP2 and setting them up each night (I DJ 4-5 night a week) takes so much time out of your day when there isn’t enough hours in the day as it is. Great video though! It’s just a convenience thing personally.

    The example you brought up with the power supply on the s9 won't affect the rev7. The rev 7 has a external power supply which can also be seen as a con but the pro is that internal power supplies are the main cause of heat. The Rev 7 console will definitely last longer and run cooler because of the external power.

    To be far. A subwoofer weights 54 pounds on the light side. Also the rev7 has everything you need in a 23 pound package. My two Rane 12 mk2 and s9 mixer in a soft padded bag is about 54 pound. A little easier to go around with. Plus the sound quality is off the charts

    As an owner of the DDJ-SX2 and a previous owner of the DDJ-1000SRT, which I sold for the Rane One, I really like the features of the DDJ-REV7. Motorized with 1200 style dots on the platter,
    Screen in the middle,
    33/45 buttons,
    Quality sound
    Battle orientation.
    As an owner of NS7II, I was not amazed by Rane One, but as long as Drew Bach is there I knew something will come. SCS1D was way ahead its time. Will wait what Rane’s answer to this... but now, Rev7 is the only one that is full of invention in the last 8 years or so.

    Chur the bro PDot. I own a rane one. The lack of digital display means im looking at my laptop alot the onboard effects are average, coupled with the new rev 7 effects i think thisnlooks good. You may well be right about the longevity of the digital platters and rane makes good gear. But the portability of this device with all these features makes it an innovation. O and also the mixer pads in the centre is a nice touch.

      I pop on youtube randomly to see what the word on the street is. I have s7 and 2 turntables for the vintage look but I'm getting too old to lag all that gear around.
      I want a setup that can be up and running in 15 min max. And especially tear down.
      I'm not convinced with this review. I don't think Pdot has even tried it to make these opinions. Also, the comment section has really pushed back on this video. It would be interesting to see the like vs dislike ratio.

      I like both the Rev7 & the Rane One for different reasons. I watched Cleveland Terry's review update about the attachable tone arms by scratch attack & thought about how the Rane One is a collectable item period able to play 45's & 12 inch vinyl sort of like Bizmarkie custom setup build he had. Even though I came from a 1200’s background, I never set them up in battle mode so the Rev7 automatically doesn’t do it for me..
    I picked up a Rane One last year and love it,,sure it’s not perfect but I would still pick it over the Rev7 for a few reasons,,
    The first is I have my Rane hooked up to Algoriddim Djay Pro,, The Rev7 isn’t compatible with that software (as yet)
    The second as mentioned I’m not a fan of Battle mode set up,
    And third would be the price,, in Australia the Rev7 is retailing for AUD $3300 (US $2350) in comparison I picked up the Rane One for AUD $2350 (US $1650)

    Most Dj's are speaking FOR the Rev7 because they've already ordered it lol...But this was a great review and I'll add I think this controller is more so for the traditional DJ that scratches a lot more than a traditional mix artist. If you have the money it's a cool collector's item but nothing that will absolutely outdo any professional controller especially made by pioneer. I just think they had to answer Rane with this release. I use the Roland DJ 808 and the Pioneer SRT so with me not scratching so much DJ's like myself should be MORE than good without it.

I think the price is about 350 dollars off what it should be but with all these next gen features I don't have right now, selling my sx2 for 500 with the case and getting these just seems better. I just wish these were around 1650 after taxes. The FX upgrade to the padel from knobs seems way better, and these tables look very user friendly from what ive seen. It is somewhat overhyped, but it does offer quite a bit for specific types of DJ's. I can see the type of DJ that does not like club set-ups, static jog-wheels, and busy mixer sections. Many hold-outs still on 12's who prefer the feel of vinyl, moving platters, scratching, and the simplicity of a 2-channel mixer may be swayed...
    If you are that type of DJ the Rev7 and Rane One are pretty good options that are available TODAY. A huge reason for some to choose the Rev7 over the Rane One is the on-board effects... a big reason to give the Rane One a hard look is the build quality(proven platter tech, standard IEC power cable, I/O, and more metal construction).

      I don’t think Rane needs a follow up on the Rane one, it’s a great controller, all the bells a whistle mean nothing to someone who’s main focus is on playing music. The Rane one is neat and minimal, I love it, software fx is all you need unless you intend to add turntables, then that defeats the object of having a controller. I’ve played with the rev 7 and it’s very nice, but expensive, £500 more than the Rane and you’re just getting onboard fx for that £500 more.

    • @PDot
      @PDot  2 роки тому

      I do agree with you that I wish more gear companies would think more "out of the box" when it came to features but I also think DJs are creatures of habit. If you’re a busy DJ doing multiple shows in one night the strain of setting up and breaking down two turntables and a mixer will make you love a controller option. Most venues in my area simply dont have the space for a traditional setup. Plus not to mention potential issues that come with moving turntables from place to place (ground cables, plugs, needles). The hype is well warranted bc of the ease of portability. Lol this is your first review I’ve disagreed with you.

    • @PDot
      @PDot  2 роки тому

      When you consider the weight of the REV7 to be around the weight of a Technics 1200, if you are worried about that type of portability...is the extra weight worth other controllers in that same size? I think that's a question each DJ will have to answer for themselves.

    • @djtrepound2407
      @djtrepound2407 2 роки тому

      @@PDot True but you’re only hooking up one device verses three separate things and grounding wires (if your techs dont have the ground mod). No worrying about broken needles or hooking up a phase and that not being charged. As well, no worries about forgetting your CVs and with the Rev 7 unlike the Rane One no worries about the platter coming off in transit.

    • @PDot
      @PDot  2 роки тому

      Sorry if I was unclear. I was addressing two separate issues.
      - The price: For the price of the REV7 a DJ could get a complete turntable + pro 2ch mixer setup which would be more flexible and allow for further expansion.
      - The weight: DJs looking to buy this because it's an "all in one" solution need to realize there are other controllers on the market that weight much less and have almost all of the features of the REV7.

    Your'e reaching with this one bro
    #1 s7 and two technics weigh much more than rev7, hence not even close to being mobile dj friendly
    #2 its kind of hard to create a piece of gear that's innovative when a lot djs don't want to step out of there comfort zone with new concepts. also this is the 1st controller with motorized platters and built in fx
    #3 pioneer has learned from those s9 issues and has released two solid mixers since
    #4 it weighs the same as the Rane one, less than a ns7iii, and has more functionality than a the technics that you compared it to.
    #5 they released the rev1 at the same time for beginner djs. I think this was created to pick up the slack that Rane left with the Rane one.
