    Watching him filter up the *inside* of that bus at the pedestrian crossing just goes to show that either he really doesn't have very good cyclecraft, or the red mist had descended and he was target-fixated on you. I say *either*... And I wouldn't be surprised if he ripped that mask off and sat gulping air down just as soon as he spotted you turning left. What a fool.

    Worries about being trapped by cars. Passes a bus in a lane that it’s about to enter fully. Props to that bus driver, by the way. Also kind of props to the cyclist for choosing a mode of transport that’s unlikely to cause significant harm to others. Imagine his judgment as a car driver.

      His filtering on the inside of the bus at that crossing was a bad idea as well. Lucky the bus driver appeared to notice and changed his angle to give him space.
      I did find it quite amusing at the next set he really went for it as if he was proving a point that he was faster.
      I had caught him originally in streatham, he did some risky filtering which gave him a gap over me, then we see the RLJ. I caught him at the lights at the top of streatham hill and when they turned green I left him for dead, not even visible on my rear camera. And that's a good mile and a half until he caught me again. Look a Bicycle can ride down a busy promenade with little risk. A car on the other hand is a different story. Traffic Lights were effected for vehicles; bicycles, their size and mass, really pose little danger to crowds. Plus, when on a bicycle, you're at such a risk your senses are fine tuned. The war on cyclists is preposterous. And in most cities/small towns the Bicycle is a much better way of travelling, for health/pollution/convenience/enjoyment.

    An advanced box for cyclists is missing here - it would solve this issue. Good on the cammer but I wouldn't personally be happy to start off between vehicles. I do kind of understand the guy behind if he wasn't planning to skip the lights , in that in half the junctions you have advanced stop and half not , which is a bit of a mixed message to cyclists. More than anything the junction designers seems to be at fault with that massive empty space in front of the traffic that could be used as an advanced stop box to improve safety.

    To start with bus and cars around You is the real risk !

    May be driver would have preferred if you stopped on the roof of his car. Suppose with a BMX bike you could do that if cars have blocked roads that you can't get through normaly.

  • @SKBKER

    Gaz in some circumstances you have to 'nudge' the law slightly . He was in a bad position whether his fault or not . You could have helped him a little . It's not like he was speeding or using his phone in a car . It would have been safe to let him go further forward . I can't really accept what you did but there we go .

    • @CycleGaz
      @CycleGaz  5 років тому +6

      His position really wasn't that bad. Only his cycling is bad. There is plenty of space behind that car he could have stopped in. And because of that as the car sets off, he can just wait a split second, then set off with nothing much to his right.
      We really shouldn't pander to these requests from people that are willing to flagrantly break the law because they think it doesn't apply to them. And for what? Because he wants to be at work 20 seconds quicker.

      Guys he put himself in that position and he is a moron but still you have to help sometimes . You don't know he would have gone through the red . Personally I would have moved forward a bit . We should be helping each other not being enemies .

    • @CycleGaz

      Crossing the stop line is going through the red. So either he is going to stop where I am (pointless) or he is going over the stop line.

    • @Fredders88

      Judiciously, yes. What the guy behind was asking for here was to get in front of the bus, so he could pull away and not cycle with traffic but get a bit in front of it. Think CG was being a bit unreasonable here.

    Yet another UA-camr who looks for confrontation and minor content to make some kind of event out of it🙄 If the other cyclist HAD actually done something, stupid, illegal, dangerous or had a crash then worth a video. But publishing an exchange of opinions at a set of lights is laughable. You could of simply ignored him at the lights and moved on without any fuss! If every cyclist, driver & pedestrian engaged in these confrontations the world would stand still and UA-cam would implode 🙄🙄🙄
