As someone who bought this, but with no real engineering insight, this was interesting, but this morning in my email... An updated version of AA-551 Channel Strip is available for download v1.2 ------- Fixed EQ error on high frequencies at low sample rates, enable oversampling to avoid frequency bending.
Audio Assault is on point with updates lately. I just got EchoVerb and it made EchoVibe disappear, but before i could send an email the update rolled out. 551 is relatively new to the market, but its entirely useful
The official doesn't behave like an hardware emulation, maybe their new 4000E, the best is plugin alliance, UAD would be the best also but doesn't have left right differency tolerance like PA one if I remeber correctly
@@LordTheeProducer Do they do a channel that can switch between the E and G? And is for perpetual licence, not monthly. Because if not... I don't want it. If so, take my money lol.
I really like audio assault's amp sims and headcrush tape saturation (don't know so much as if it's tape saturation, but very nice saturation). They have a really neat transient designer, too. They definitely feel designed for metal production, and it's a super small company with I think one guy in Mexico. The pricing makes them super accessible, so I applaud that.
I have used some Audio Assault plugins on a Linux setup. They are quite ok, especially for the price. If there have been any problems, the support has responded quite well.
Their amp sims are awesome, I'm using them all the time, Headcrusher too, does wonders to bass DIs. Their new delay/reverb stuff also sound super nice. It seems like EQ is not their forte, and that's fine, I won't buy this one after this test for sure. I'd reach for the Waves Scheps Omni for a similar channel strip anyway.
I like your honest reviews! Good to read AA has already provided the fix. Would be good to do a revised review once in a while as this could continue to hurt their business, even if they already resolved the issues long time ago. Not a full review, just on the issues.
My favorite British console is the Trident A-Range, followed closely by the Helios. I like Arturia's Pre-TridA, and Analog Obsession's HLQSE would by great if it had easier-to-use controls and a way to set the low-end bump to zero, so I'll still usually opt for the Kramer HLS.
I like the Brainworx bx_console Focusrite SC channel strip plug in, I think it's an emulation of the favorite British console mentioned in the intro. Cheers
Is that the one you get free with certain Focusrite products? I heard nice things about it and at the very least, it looks really cool. But the original console is very clean so I wonder how much you get out of it even if its well emulated.
@@DavidSJ_DAP Ok thanks I though cause I never paid for it but I got it, maybe it was the case before, maybe it was a limited ponctual freebie like the Shadow Hill
I'm really curious about you checking out Lifeline Console. Because it's my favorite channel strip/console emulation, and it sound pretty cool to my ear. However I don't use analogue gear, and I'm curious what you would think about it knowing that you love analogue stuff.
I bought it a little while ago. They have done two upgrades which has improved it, and personally, for ten bucks I think it’s ok. I actually quite like it. So, each to their own.
From a usb stick, try this avlinux and these acmt plugins You can use Reaper for testing, it is pre-installed. There is no need to install anything on the machine.
The thing is your using it like a compressor. to get the most out of a ssl analog strip is to run in on a main drum track or main piano track or a main vocal track or a main base track...etc...etc...Your trying to really hear an effect from multiple busses of instruments but you cant really get the best affects because the effects are not focused on each group directly
I just found your channel. Because of this I get there's issues with it but everybody here complaining AA is a great company. They had one release that might be screwed up. All their ampsims are amazing and are super cheap for what they are. They match the quality of neural DSP and other ampsims for 10 bucks often. Idk where people are getting AA is shit, just because one release that wasn't that great.
@@audioassaultsupport5929 Yea, I should have worded it better. It's not a release that wasn't great, it's a good product, just needed the fix for the issue. Your guys quality should be shown by how quickly you fixed it, and didn't try and defend that it's "fine the way it is", and yet your plugins cost so little!
No, you're not going crazy, the EQ implementation is just broken. It doesn't really become a shelf, but as the bell filters approach the highest frequencies, the response blows up and they start boosting all frequencies almost equally. Honestly though, a lot of things in this plugin seem badly broken… definitely not worth paying any money for, or even using. Your DAW almost certainly already has the exact same features, except implemented correctly.
@@jackbootshamangaming4541 You shouldn't trust a dev that lets mistakes this egregious slip past to begin with, no matter how 'active' they are. I Guess, as you turn up the Bell Filter the surrounding Frequencies get lowered in Volume and when you raise the Filter Frequency you also move the Dip up the Frequency Range. sorry about that, it's been fixed
This is very nice.. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Have a look at analog obsession too..
I hope by June I’m ready with my one knob SSL channel strip. SuperAnalog GUI with screws, no oversampling, no auto-gain, no bypass. But for a very good promo price in the first 3 months, just 59.99 EUR. I hope you’ll like it, my bank account definitely will like it. 😂
I think most people would have picked Neve lol.
Not me, I'm not mad keen. But like... 90 percent of everyone else lol.
British gonzoooooo... Am I on right channel?
I got the SSL UC1 so I got all the channels I need
Comment for da algorithm
Streak count: 122
All these years, and i never knew Paul Simon did a Darude- Sandstorm cover! this may be one of my favorite versions!
I heard that weird eq thing on my 10+ year old broken notebook speaker :D :D :D :D
Some of their guitar plugins are nice.
A-Console, Britson!!
that cómp and high freq filter sounds exactly like SSL... nice but not pleasent enough..like a bit harsh and the comp exactly like SSL channel strip comp.
ANd PS: when plug in people want gear emulations, they are looking for hardware artefacts that adds to their sound... you still dont get this.
If a hardware guy is looking for a plug in emulation, he wants that hardware without the artefacts... you still dont get this and make nonsense drama :D
Nice song, btw.
You could check out Abyss on one of your future videos
I Guess, as you turn up the Bell Filter the surrounding Frequencies get lowered in Volume and when you raise the Filter Frequency you also move the Dip up the Frequency Range. I don't think it is really morphing to a Shelf Filter when you lower the Frequencies. But, maybe it is also changing the Q.... Nice Review, anyways...
I uninstalled it in no more than 3 mins. 3 is also exaggeration!
no fan of SSL .. Neve all day..
They may want you to pay for it to get all the functions 🤔
No, it was a bug and I just fixed it today
👏 👏 👏
Omg why did they even bother to program this
What we need are more neve emulations lol not more SSL strips
