If you would have just watched the short video where he explains it, you wouldn't have wasted your time (or others) being frustrated about autogain and not knowing what does what. The 2 channel / 8 channel knob allows you the option of different amps in the 8 channel mode. Perhaps they assume if you are going to pay more than a 100 for a plug in that you will actually take the time to learn what it does by reading the manual instead of criticizing the art in the marketing.

They were referring to the Waves summing process where you have to add a plugin to the end of each channel, and then one to your master bus. I've only seen a Brainworx channel strip that has summing built into it as far as other channel strips.

Great video as usual!! And this plugin has amazingly great 'character'. It may not be for 'everyone'... but it is definitely very nice-sounding, in its own way. In a world where there are numerous plugins that can fill possible gaps where this will not... this definitely has its place. 🙂
There are (effectively) gain reduction meters - the red line on the main meters is output and white is input which gives yo a good idea of what the compressor is doing.
How is he being honest? He missed most features of the plug-in? You can not give an honest of a plug-in without know how to use it. twisting a few knobs 5 or ten minutes tells me nothing.@@campar1043
Kind of honest, with a LOT of sugarcoating.... He used to be raw/blunt/open about it in the past. This days, he's holding himself back a LOT. As can be seen in the comment - some people actually bought the sugarcoated part - as if this is a legit plugin. Yet, it's snake oil - especially for the price (at max 20$ would have been okish). Which bluntly put.... is misleading.
It can be very subtle, but one thing about this plug-in and pulsar modular in general, this is a very committed software developer, all his work is very expensive, if you compare to other software plug-ins. Those 3D renders are hilarious! It’s a thing you often see with software too, it’s a digital download but yet they show a 3D render of a cardboard box from back in the day when software was actually distributed on physical media. 20 years ago a market for second hand plugins could have been feasible but it would all have been software packages with cd’s and documentation.
Interesting review WS. As a designer-mind I have to agree, those '3D' pictures of digital gear, is ridiculous. It says a lot about the gullibility of people. (probably beginners in audio). The stats will prove to have higher profit is my guess.

@@georgwalt7978 No, I watched because his previous reviews about plugins that interested me were halfway decent, but seeing he's just using the algo to get clicks I haven't watched a video of his since and don't plan to any time soon.
So really quick. "Better" for the eq is when you use a real 5500 eq you will at times get a honky and harsh tone when driving the eq. It's why I went for a 560 graphic eq over the 550b. I didnt like the high end when driven hard. They change how it interacts and makes it less harsh. Comparing it from my waves or uad api its smoother but man i love thay 560 hardware. I need to get like 10 of those 😂
Can all the people commenting that he didn't "use it properly" or "doesn't know how to use it" please explain what he was supposed to do with it? And what do you think summing is?
I saw Daniel's review yesterday and you really are providing a dis-service for people watching this by not doing your due diligence, RTFM. C'mon man. You can do better. Daniel's video was so much more informative and I walked away with a better appreciation and understanding of the product after watching the guy with the concept and h/w that was modeled than this.
There are some groups on Facebook. The biggest drawbacks are the limitations imposed by the software devs. For buying the prices are usually reasonable but for selling it's almost not worth it in some cases. It really depends. It's definitely worth trying though.
@jimslominski8006 That was the case years ago. Wondered if by Now someone would have cracked the code. Seems almost criminal to sell a product that can't be re-sold or transferred.
I usually find your videos both informative and often à point. This one though was actually sloppy and quite frankly beneath you.bYou totally missed quite a few important points. Try it again. It's actually a very good plug-in...and NOT expensive. If you want everything for free there are options but professionals needs to get paid for their work. Don't we...? :))
This plugin is fantastic....... at giving you a small amount of low end extension, width and sheen. If you're after that kind of refined but arguably small impact - it's pretty awesome. Not a necessary purchase at all - and for most folks, not doing much that's obvious to hear. I'll grab it because I'm an audio nerd and love those little details. But lets be honest - the difference a summing mixer makes is also small. To folks who can hear it - it's awesome. But to the rest of the world - who cares? Same with this plugin I think. I dig it. Bit pricey though - agreed on that.
although - using a mid-side tool to widen a little, a little eq bump around 40hz and side eq bump around 80-100hz and it's pretty hard to tell which is which. (that's using 2ch, Willie and Line amp in, no eq no comp). Hmmm.
Do a preview of the making kf the plugin and based console next time. And and try the eq on seperate drums. Otherwise an actual great plugin may be joked upon when it actually does way more code wise than the others
Can use it in busses and extra analog collor. But final limiter should always be final limiter. Especially with this analog based plugin where loudness was not that important or made for
Well, it's VERY expensive. But i. Had my studio cans on during the video and the lush sound does impress me a lot. As i work most within (classic) rock and pop, i would welcome it as a present😅
I love it when a UA-camr points in the air and whatever video link they THOUGHT was going to be there.... wasn't. Yeah. There was no summing video link.
I came here from MDN's video and was screaming at myself as Wytse screamed about autogain :D Always a good laugh. They could've made it more apparent, for sure.
i liked the camera switch very much. Maybe consider trying it out more often. It makes the Video more dynamic in my opinion. Love The Video. Greetings from Germany.

It’s a thing you often see with software too, it’s a digital download but yet they show a 3D render of a cardboard box from back in the day when software was actually distributed on physical media. 20 years ago a market for second hand plugins could have been feasible but it would all have been software packages with cd’s and documentation.
2 different sets of converters. *Not modulation styles to modulate the anologness
Interesting review WS.
As a designer-mind I have to agree, those '3D' pictures of digital gear, is ridiculous. It says a lot about the gullibility of people.
(probably beginners in audio). The stats will prove to have higher profit is my guess.
I guess you have to use shift to get auto compensation.... The processing does seem pretty high quality... Analogue vibes. Send pretty musical to me.
This was completely pointless. Don't "review" it if you don't know how to use it.
PINK 4 9(LIVE ANALOG SAMPLED FULL API BUNDLE) by Acustica Audio...is onsale...for $69 the Whole Weekend
Its live analog sampled from the visionary 1608 console and 551 EQs and API 575 on Strip and API 2500 on individual Comp.......alot more true the Hardware than this......

the algo got your attention. job done. money earned.
I need to get like 10 of those 😂
more cool options on the update.
I just watched the video by Marc Daniel Nelson and hoped that you would also do a review, and here it is. Today is really my lucky day.
Marc reviewed it because he is co owner of it
This might be my favorite version of Sandstorm so far (the first example)
Can all the people commenting that he didn't "use it properly" or "doesn't know how to use it" please explain what he was supposed to do with it? And what do you think summing is?
I saw Daniel's review yesterday and you really are providing a dis-service for people watching this by not doing your due diligence, RTFM. C'mon man. You can do better. Daniel's video was so much more informative and I walked away with a better appreciation and understanding of the product after watching the guy with the concept and h/w that was modeled than this.
There aren’t enough plug ins of any kind in my eyes. I want more
The most interesting part of this:
The 2nd-hand Plugin Market.
Does anyone know of one, and should one exist?
There are some groups on Facebook. The biggest drawbacks are the limitations imposed by the software devs. For buying the prices are usually reasonable but for selling it's almost not worth it in some cases. It really depends. It's definitely worth trying though.
Knobcloud
@jimslominski8006 That was the case years ago.
Wondered if by Now someone would have cracked the code.
Seems almost criminal to sell a product that can't be re-sold or transferred.
@@williammindreaders1029 Haven't heard of it. I'll check it out. Thanks.
@@G_handle The boards are current and active, and many devs are allowing re-sales but with money penalties
Bro you can semi-auto gain by pressing shift key while turning input gain
That's a lovely warm groove! - apart from Darude - who's the artist?
Should i put this before the final limiter?
Can use it in busses and extra analog collor. But final limiter should always be final limiter. Especially with this analog based plugin where loudness was not that important or made for
a bit weird, but you can see the gr of the comp by looking at the FOUR needles and the differences between them (there are two needles on each meter)
there is Auto gain but you have to hold shift or something
I got the w495 eq for free, and I paid for pulsar massive. Both are nice plugins. I think in this case, I’ll stick with Sonimus for console emulation.
This isa different company, Pulsar Modular, possibly the best sounding plugins currently available.
@@timgreig1704 ah my mistake. That’s a bold statement!
There was for me so... 🤷♂️
correct, none for me.
I came here from MDN's video and was screaming at myself as Wytse screamed about autogain :D Always a good laugh. They could've made it more apparent, for sure.
FYI just for full transparency Marc reviewed it because he is co owner of it. Getting. UA-camr to put their name on it certainly helps sales
It adds nice color. However, I wouldn't spend anywhere near $189.
You should know Knobcloud…. It’s a second hand plugin marker powered by Thomman
Hold shift for auto gain.
People sell DAWs and instruments collection/"mega synths" like Omnisphere and Halion already. 😊
There actually is a second hand market place I will try finding it again
there are many 2nd hand plugin marketplaces :)
You should review real phones 2.0 new version
I like the conclusion part, totally agree
There’s A LOT of plugins I’ve purchased that I don’t use anymore……A LOT…..wish I could sell those licenses too

I bought a few console plugins, because I love how they look. In all honesty though, I do feel like they're the most snakeoilish of all plugins.
Have you tried that one out tho? And also know about the original for comparison
i liked the camera switch very much. Maybe consider trying it out more often. It makes the Video more dynamic in my opinion. Love The Video. Greetings from Germany.
Hey, just for you to check: The levels in this video are rather low (Intro-Sound, Speech), peaking at circa -10 dB. The music is way louder and even peaks higher than the speech.
Maybe you could make "My most often used plugins" video?

ITS BASICALLY API HARDWARE ITB
great vid as always 🤗
No we don't need another plug in doing a miracle job on the mix bus! But with a UA-camr attached it's a good way to make some money. MDN is great but he's reviewing it because they made him a co owner
P.S You should really read the manual or spend some time learning the plug in before reviewing it
12:54 So then, does that make it the Sauce Boss?
The screws are so rusted out you can’t remove the faceplate. Tough to repair🥺
And the screws are in a different position between both ui styles, clearly this proves that something was switched out :D
Hold shift for auto gain
🤔🤔🤔🤔 I posted two comments and they got deleted?
What Microphone is that?.
It sounds vibey
189$ The price of some whole DAWs or plugin suites, for this? I mean come on...
The guy making them has an overinflated ego and their stuff is 99% marketing hype.
There are second hand license market places. Some are on forums some on facebook etc.
What do you mean with 'keep pushing!' You mean like on the bus or in a queue at the super market? I hope not. 😄
"it isn't just a plugin" - well it is just a plugin... hahahaha
Auto gain and a MIX KNOB for the compresor !!!!
1:20 Dan Warroll knocks on the studio door.
"Old" means the interface has more contrast for old people, like you are!!! Badoom TSSSs
Hold Shift to gain comp
I sold my Arturia V-Collection, but I agree that there is no huge second hand market. iLok even charge $25 per transfer!
Where did you sell it? I would love second hand plugins since they are exactly the same...
a local online portal for classifieds
It has Autogain
I can't even remember what the original version of "Sandstorm" by Darude sounds like.
really? You're in for a treat. As annoying as it can be, and hence one of the top Dance hits of all time.
Reading the manual is important. Lol
incredible plug in, absolutely top draw
