When I was a stupid kid, I cut off my cat's whiskers along with some of its fur. I was bored and holding a pair of scissors. Anyway, a relative saw me and said "Why did you cut his whiskers, you just made him blind!" and I never knew what that relative meant for a long time. I mean, the cat was still able to see as far as I know since its eyes were perfectly okay. That is until I learned what whiskers are for. My bad, my dear Pussycat. 😅

that level of social intelligence in mice is crazy....being able to realize that a certain feature of your biology is an advantage and then realizing that you could handicap members of your own grp to give yourself a further advantage without limiting your numbers is intelligence like I dint realize was possible in these creatures. Are animals becoming smarter or are we just getting better at paying attention?

It's BBC Ideas, and there are other topics too like "Can You Measure Intelligence, How To Forgive Yourself, etc. It encourages us not to focus on just one thing, but to broaden our horizons.

the only part of western society being under attack is people like you being foolishly addicted to this outdated idea of the "west", scared of the ultimate bend of the universe towards unstoppable progress.
