thinking about the early 90's you will have to try and get Greg Ernst on.

You're the best Loz, these danish strongmen legends never get any attention. Which I feel like they deserve, but maybe I'm biased since I'm danish 😁

Henning is such a good guy. He's so nice with all us newbies in the sport. He plays a huge role in arranging powerlifting meets and championships here in Denmark.

I remember Henning. Great competitor. That's fantastic you were able to interview him. Manfred Hoerberl is another strongman from that time I liked who I don't think you have interviewed yet.

Great to see Henning, back when he was competing I always thought he was very tacit and understated and he hasn’t changed. A great strong man too. I do miss the days of competition before the advent of the professional strongman.
    Great interview, thanks as always.

How did I miss this interview! Henning's a legend. I remember him from the 1990, 1991 and 1992 WSM! He had great rivalries with Jon Pall Sigmarsson, O.D. Wilson, Gary Taylor, Magnus Ver Magnusson, Illkka Nummisto, and Ted Van Der Parre.

    Great interview.
I totally get after OD an Jon Pall passing. Why he would lose his passion for competing.
    Top man.👍

Such a fantastic interview. Honest and too the point. I'd love to see Ab Wolders being interviewed. Another great all around strong man who gets very little recognition

Hening mentions that Jon Pall gave him some tips on how to train properly in 1989. Im curioous to know what methods they taught him.

I wonder where Strongman would be had Jon Paul not died. Not due to him even ever competing again. Just as a spokesman.

Another interesting interview! 👍🏻 to be honest, I hadn’t heard of Henning before - his era was just a little early for me but seems to have achieved an incredible amount, not least finishing 2nd at WSM in a very competitive era!
Glad to hear he weighed the same as I do now at 6’4” when I’m only 5’9” - there’s some hope for me to get a bit bigger and stronger yet! 😄(though I am 34!)

Because of the last name I always thought he was in family with Sven Ole Thorsen, but because of Henning, Sven Ole had to go to Hollywood instead :D

    • @Thulgore

Sven is was a monster too. (For people who don't know he was Fulgrim in Conan the Barbarian.....the guy with the huge mallet) Also the gladiator that comes out of retirement to fight Maximus.

  • @Danimal77

Jon Pall Sigmarsson would have been the same age as Henning today.

I didn't know that Kazmaier didn't want to compete at the 1990 WSM. I thought he wasn't invited. I know he still competed until 1991, but 1989 was his last WSM.

As an american.......I watch all these interview with strongmen that english is their second language......and I realize I am a fucking idiot. I barely speak english and it's the only language I know.

Why is it that Nordic people seem so ticked off all the time?

    • @dantodd5792

They don’t tend to show you their whole personality until they know you properly, then they’re completely different. It’s pretty fucking cold in Scandinavia too so I wouldn’t be smiling much

    • @ljnv

No it's just how they present themselves. I wouldn't take it personally it's just how they show themselves. But once you're in their world very nice people
