thanks for having me on, rip on me in the comments here. While I disagree with a lot of what SCR says, they are like the friend that disagrees with you politically and would be fun guys to have a beer with. SCR does a better job then most card content creators by either being loved or hated and thats how you build an audience. have a good weekend all.

I dont see the need to rip you. Really liked when you talked about what you collect. I do believe a lot of the bad faith actors and scammers should be called out since some of the hobby would break cards with the lowest life on the planet and defend them so I am a fan of what SCR does. And I am 40 and have been collecting since age 6 so i am passionate about it. Good luck with your collection.
Good interview man and solid question but with the internet, comes criticism. If a 12 year old kid starts making content, he/she needs to know that criticism will come with that content.

This JF guy.. What a piece of work.. I am a super chill guy that doesn't get upset at much but man oh man this guy crawls my skin. He charges TWO different subscriptions, lets start there. Nickel and Dime. Second. While I was a member of his Patreon (very short lived) I watched this guy take a box of cards sent in by a fan... A little kid who wrote him a heart felt letter saying that these were his special cards and he wanted JF to have them. He then asked if Jabs would send out a few cards in return and of course was abruptly declined. He then turns around and tells another kid that asked for HIS autograph that he would send him an autograph of himself a few minutes later. I get that he's a busy guy, but with that many subs, there is a responsibility to your fans, especially the kids, not to be a jerk. Just my 2 cents.
When i was collecting i wasnt buying cases of hobby boxes, but i collected since i was a kid back in 1996 and the rarest card i ever pulled to this day was a card that is /5. Backyard Breaks pulling all those 1/1 cards is just beyond insane and the odds of pulling all 4 of those cards is astronomically low, and the other content creators, breakers and so on who are silent about it are likely protecting them and themselves too, because they likely also get preferential treatment.
I have ripped at least 2 cases of prizm, 2 cases of select, a case of spectra, 2-3 cases of optic and 2 cases of Panini Black this season. I’ve pulled 1 #ed Cade, the Panini Black base card and not one auto. So, the fact that these guys are pulling heat non-stop, it’s definitely rigged

Great conversation! After the one hater a few months back had absolutely nothing to say and thoroughly embarrassed himself, Luke was a breath of fresh air. It also proved that you and Ryan are a lot smarter about your brand and content that most people are giving you credit for. SCR videos are a must-watch every time.

Let me make this very simple for those who don’t understand the $4 fee that con job Jabs charged. He had already charged his customers for shipping as part of the break. A good business person does not charge customers again. That’s it. If he valued his customer base then he would have just sent out the packs with no additional fee tacked on. But he’s cheap and never wants to come out of pocket for anything.
Case in point, he does this all the time during his auctions. He changes the shipping costs when customers buy a larger lot meanwhile he states he only charges $3 for shipping. Again, he’s cheap and refuses to eat any costs.
And stop being so blind Jabs Family fan boys. He’s making money hand over fist while laughing behind the scenes. He takes a 50% commission on the consignment auctions. 50%! That is fact and he’s stated it during the live auctions. The standard commission fee in this industry is 10-15%. So keep supporting this con man. He doesn’t give a crap about you. He just keeps on smiling as he lifts your wallet.

People are OVERPAYING for everything now, look at Whatnot influencers. Jabs is no exception. He seems to have cleaned things up since his divorce, but it is fair to criticize him on the "game used" baseballs, this is what people should go after him on.

Luke was great, he handled the interview really well. If felt like he wanted to say more negative things, but kept it professional and respectful while still saying things he wanted to say. Well done Luke, keep it up!

He owned a big German Shepard and drives 2 hours to work everyday. Is it fair to cage a big dog like that for 11 hours a day (not including sleep)?....get a clue.

I think your value is to keep some of these guys in check and call them out for bulllshit. This guy saying your a meanie picking on them is ridiculous, if they were doing nothing suspicious or wotrrhy of opinion then sure, but there’s a huge market for content and general market need for a check on dome of these guys. People have been getting away w murder for a long time, and two guys chatting about what they think is shady is not worthy of this guy crying about it.

The start of this video really nails it. These card manufacturers are basically making slot machines without any regulation at all. Go ask a company like Ainsworth (I think they still have offices in Las Vegas) all the regulatory hurdles they have to go through to get a single slot machine into a casino.

The opening question from Luke was great. The counterpoint/realisation id give to that would be the impact that “over positivity” content has on the same kids. Having kids follow people blindly who are misleading or guiding them is a terrible thing. That needs to be looked at in the same light that apparent “negative” content is.
How do these kids learn when society has never told them no? It's a big bad world out there for somebody who always had participation awards and everyone was a winner in their own safe space. Glad i'm an 80's kid

I enjoy the vids, I've been listening since you were posting stuff on your website. Some stuff I don't necessarily agree with but I do think the information you provide is very valuable. In the end, we as an industry want the hobby to grow, but we don't want people to get ripped off. You guys helped me find out about PWCC's trimming. You guys really do provide a valuable service to the industry. I've been collecting for over 40 years, and appreciate folks who look out for collectors.
Jabs just seems like a dirtball. I've watched many of his breaks and the way he randomizes spots just seems so shady. Also, he actively deletes UA-cam comments. It's so odd seeing people throw superchats at him during his live streams. I'm convinced a lot of those "commenters" are fake.

I like how you bring these issues up. I've often wondered if the rare cards are selectively held back. It's the same reason I don't do school raffles or anything like that. Too easy for the good 'ol boys to rig it since there's very little oversight.

I participate in the auctions only (for vintage stuff), but ppl freak and get so bid happy. It’s rare that I end up winning due to the inflated prices.

He films when he picks up the cases and stuff for those packs for content on his channel as well. I don't necessarily think he's trying to screw anyone over, it's really only predatory against the people who don't know any better I guess that they can get the packs cheaper than via his patreon.
Eric doesn't make money on the boxes he sells, he makes money on his patreon membership, that's it. he's straight forward on his channel.

I am an old timer that started collecting in 1975 became a dealer in 1986 on the show circuit and had a shop from 1990-2010, I got out and got sucked in with the COVID deal too. I started doing TTM (through the mail autographs) about 2 years ago. The cards were so costly I had I had to start buying collections to get cards to get autographed. After buying several collections I started to amass all these good cards I couldn't get autographed . Needless to say. I am now a card dealer again. LOL I am trying to complete every set autographed so selling the non signed cards helps me get more signed items.

I’ve been opening so many packs of cards for about two years and get nothing really as worthy while others on UA-cam or any other social media platforms are pulling the major hits. People are definitely getting juiced packs, boxes and cases. They pull all the big cards with ease, that alone should know what is up.
Same, I’ve opened tons of wax over the last 2 years, some decent stuff but nothing over the top

As much as I like Jabs and his content, I don’t know a single high school Spanish teacher that owns a home on a golf course with a pool. $5 patreon subscription x a theoretical 25% of 100k subscribers still gets him an extra $100k+ annually. One of the reasons I backed out his Patreon. I’ll take his content for free from here on lol

Is the printing company in Florida? I believe one of Topps is. If an employee on the packing line knows "what that card says", then they should know what case pallet those 1/1's are put into. Its not that hard

At one point, I thought you guys on SCR were a bunch of trolls who spend all day trolling a lot of the guys that are either "Collecting" or made the hobby a "business". But as time passes, I have seen videos of the Jabs, Platinum Breaks, the Geoff Wilson's and I formulated my own opinions on them and their operations, but as I got more familiar with you and what you both do, a lot of my suspicions turned out to be factual and I thank you guys for what you do and provide us with what is going on within the hobby. Now I am not a young collector (although I wish I was) but I can appreciate when we have what I like to call the "Hobby Police" Keep doing what you guys do and make those of us enjoy this hobby more knowing how to go about enjoying this hobby without falling victim to shenanigans.

Jabs family muted me after I won a Freddie Freeman booklet and gave it to someone else. I have proof...I took screen shot of it. They didn't reply to me in the comment section. 😔 Very sad! I just got back in the hobby and then this happened. Talk about trust issues. NEVER AGAIN will I join live break because of it.

@@rudeboy3975 not sure they will do anything about it, but I'd file a police report and give them a copy of the evidence. I was ripped off last year in a trade by a scammer, and filed a report and gave the evidence. The police said that since it was a fake name, there's not a lot they can do on my end, but they forwarded the stuff to the city that the cards went to so detectives there can try to track him down.

It's mainly degenerate gamblers, as the odds are terrible.
I get where you are coming from but sometimes people want some skin in the game of the high end products they can’t afford. If you can’t afford Topps Museum box than you bid on a breaker for a mini box. For me I just buy what I can afford or save for a high end box that I want. Really don’t even like my cards being shipped by blowout or Dave and Adams lol. Might be going that way as my local shop has gotten way thinner over the years in product.

Jabs' wife was doing a lot of the work. When he was small it wasn't a problem but then the cases started coming in and it wasn't long after that.
I don’t think that it’s discourages the younger generation it shows how other people in the hobby are just in it for money and not the “hobby” aspect and how they are making it seem that cards are still going up even tho the card market is way down

Vibe of the TSCC show is 40 tables - 10 are vintage, 10 have no prices on their stuff, 15 are priced but way over market, and 5 are tables priced at current market. Lots of dealers complain about how “slow” their show is but can’t figure out why.
While I think Zack should retire from easy batting practice balls, he does give some away and gives to charities. It is a business. Jabs sold foul balls he snagged from "kids" only from Pirates games and it didn't seem right.
The only ones Zack keeps or gives to players are milestone baseballs. Zack will keep one commerative ball if they are being used. I use to hate the dude but he gives a majority of what he gets away. With his traveling, hotels, eating on the road for 6 months. The least he deserves for giving people enjoyment is a 15.00 baseball

My take is WhatNot bargained a deal to get those “Product Hits” to be broke on WhatNot… who is the biggest breaker on that site with big whale buyers ? WhatNot probably put down millions for product allocation for those guys and other channels to get product.. think Of WhatNot as the new GTS distributor to all those channels as an analogy.. No way in hell does all those top hits get pulled by 1 breaker without inside knowledge.

I just found your content and love that you're poking Geoff Wilson and REALLY glad you're having a go at Jabs. I saw a clip a few years ago, where he and his brother were trying to get batting practice balls and they were pushing little kids outta the way to do it. It was pretty sickening to watch....he's so lacking in self-awareness and is an embarrassment to other adult card-collectors. Apparently he's a teacher -- don't think I'd want my kids anywhere near him.

Young kids and teens can also learn from what SCR are saying in their content to maybe spin it in a more positive direction for them make based off of what does get the most negative reaction. Bc again like the point brought up even with a G content show can get spun into haters. Howard Stern is one of the biggest example from a multi media outlet and content material standpoint on views on subjects and commenting on the higher platform People/Companies/Breakers and Hobby in general and Howard did this with Mega Uber filthy language and Personal Opinionated viewpoints
Can someone explain the issue with Jabs Family charging $4 for shipping? I don’t know the details. That’s the minimum cost to ship a first class package.
The silver packs were the allegedly missing short prints and Topps sent them out free of charge. Jabs makes enough money to justify shipping the cards to the people from the silver packs at no charge
I don't know enough about Jabs Family to lump him in with the Ken Gold-turn-green, Backyard Bros, Sports Card Divestor and the other clowns. He's a bad family guy? He overcharges on shipping? Is there something I'm missing? People ripping on Sports Card Radio for not being nice, need to explore the internet without parental control for a couple of hours. These guys bring a lot of value to the hobby.

If you have not yet checked out videos that Chad (TheTruth17) put out on his Firehandcards youtube channel you should. He is a real OG breaker and has some thoughts on the BYB pulls. Videos were posted 3 and 13 days ago.
100% loaded boxes and they know where everything is. Anyone who has opened any retail from Target, Walmart, etc.. knows that all the cards are basic, no hits, terrible condition like it’s the crap left over for years now.
Plus they holdout the good product long enough to find out who the big money rookies are so they can load em.
Retail products are for suckers. I don’t think anyone should expect to be pulling high-value cards out of a pack you bought at target for 40 dollars.
@@christopher7763 true but you missed the point and you used to be able to pull some decent stuff every now and then in retail. Now it’s all base crap and the best rookies in the good product are much harder to pull because they’re sophomores and Panini is dictating where they should go.
2017, pulled a 1 of 1 RPA Cooper Kupp out of a Target retail box $40. 2018- Kobe Bryant redemption autograph out of $4 Status clearance pack, 2021- Joe Burrow Kaboom retail fat pack. 2022 Julio Rodriguez auto out of $7 fat pack. I've bought hobby boxes and not had as much luck. Go ahead and bash retail but more bang for your buck in my experience
the only way I see an end coming to this trickery is to make all product retail. Get rid of Hobby and H2 and make the odds even for everyone.

Jabs is a MAGA fool… I’ve watched every video he did from fall of 2018 to today. He tries to remain neutral, but he slips up every once in a while, and lets his opinion out. So… not much of a critical thinker… but his now deleted video after his wife left, was classic. Really powerful pure content, full of real emotion. Jabs is very organized, but I fear his addiction will eventually doom him.
I stopped cracking product years ago.
Honestly, all it took was the fact that the COA on the back of the cards literally mean nothing from a legal stand point.

When I first got back into collecting I joined jabs for awhile and very quickly realized what kind of person he was and completely stopped. It’s terrible.
Smart. Sadly, he still has many minions (most of whom showed up to white knight for him in the comments for the previous SCR video) who apparently like getting duped by a con man with poor character.
@@badkarma1289 it’s honestly surprising cause I feel like it has got to the point where he just doesn’t care or hide it really anymore. He will have people spend a bunch of money on a product for him to open then trashes the product the entire time. Many issues.
Can you give me some examples of the poor character?
@@danmule4131 well when I first joined his Patreon took 3 months to get my first package from him with no response to any attempt at communication. Was packaged terribly and lots of cards damaged, again no response. Will talk trash about how terrible a product is while ripping it for someone he had to pay for it so he can make a video. You can find many videos of people showing examples as well.
@@wnorton4916 I've known a handful of people who get their packages once a month as scheduled so im not sure what happened to yours. Why wouldn't you want him to be honest about a product if it isn't good? Nobody is forcing people to buy the products.

not saying this was loaded but i got a topps gallery blast, 2 of them actually, and in ONE pack i got a /25 orange spencer strider PLUS an autograph then the second box i got a /75 hunter green Blue PLUS an autograph out of the box, 5 more blasters and i haven't seen another auto or numbered card since

As much shady stuff as I’ve heard of Jabs doing and not being a huge fan my self. I have no problem with him charging shipping for shipping cards when it was on topps who really screwed the collector. With that said I enjoy the content and the conversations I’ve had with other collectors and the creators and by reading the comments you can see they don’t erase comments. As Far as backyard breaks and Panini I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there’s something shady going on. It could be a employee I’m the mail room, on the line, In the corporate side or any where between. I think Panini absolutely knows where certain cards go there’s to much weird stuff that goes on and would like to see a investigation from a outside source with no ties or agendas to the company or hobby.

Seems like alot of speculation on your part. People want to knock the man as a bad father or whatever but we never get to hear his side of the story. His wife didn't drive that's a fact. So who was doing all the grocery shopping, taking kids to their sports activities, etc? Jabs was.

nothing wrong with HGA slabs. I like them as well. Im not sending them anything i intend to resell, but their stuff looks nice and is of great quality.
