Oh man I love watching you guys interact 😂 after several years of following you guys, it’s been so funny to watch my preferences go from more Themer to more Thinker, but I always settle in partway between you guys!! Just punched Black Forest, so excited to play it!! 🥰 happy Christmas you guys! 🎄
Thanks so much for all of your great content this year! Civolution is also my top game of the year and I agree with plenty of your other choices too. Happy holidays.
Thank you so much, Amy and Maggie! You are two people whose opinions matter to me and my partner very much. One of my favourite lil moments is hearing about a game, seeing that you’ve covered it, and then watching your video with my partner, so that we can have a fun, more in-depth conversation about what we think of the game. Am looking forward to what you’ll be covering in 2025! Enjoy your holidays :)
Awww this makes us so happy to read!!! Are you and your partner as polarised on "thinking" and "theming" when it comes to gaming? I love that you have in-depth conversations about your thoughts on the games... the analysis is always so interesting especially when different elements hit differently for others.
@@ThinkerThemer Haha our brains work very differently (she’s way smarter), but we have similarities for sure. I’ve always known that I need all game actions to directly reflect the theme, and I’ve learned that I REALLY need games to be tight (not fiddly). She LOVES all things logic and deduction, but most importantly, will only play games that are aesthetically beautiful and have an interesting theme (extra points for super cute stuff). We just played Search For Planet X last night for the first time, and needless to say, she had the time of her life.
Arcs with the campaign expansion is a whole other experience. Amazing emergent storytelling with new crunchy rules each game. One of my best game experiences this year.
Thank you Amy and Maggie for your energy and love you put into everything. You became my favourite channel and we don‘ t have a lack of them in Germany. I didn‘t feel seen there with my heart for themer games, so thanks again and merry merry christmas to you.
Aww yay thank you so much for the kind words!!! We appreciate your support, thanks for taking the time to comment and have a wonderful festive season ❤️
Black Forest is my christmas gift this year (from me to myself). I'm so excited to be finally able to play it. 🙂 Happy holidays to both of you, love your channel. ❤
same, I have wanted to play Glass Road and have been hearing great things about this so I grabbed it. Though I have my player boards under some books for a while to hopefully flatten them out a bit because of the warping. Really excited to play it in the new year
Nice lists. There are a few games on your lists that I'm not quite decided to buy or not. Andromedas Edge and Black Forest to name some. Civolution I played 1 1/2 times solo and decided to sell it as long as the hype is high. And yes the reason for selling it was the random dice mechanism. What I really, really liked about this game among many things, is the rulebook. With table of contents and index (yes an actual index). So easy to check on rules. Have some nice days ahead and keep having fun playing games.
I was considering picking up "Black Forest" just yesterday once I saw it back in stock, but was wishing I had your thoughts on it before I took the plunge, and lo and behold! Perfect timing. Still not sure if I'll grab it-I'd be playing it mostly solo, and I don't know if the fact that I haven't played "Glass Road" helps or hurts my chances of enjoying it. May just pick up another Uwe title like "Fields of Arle" or "Caverna" from my wishlist, instead. Thank you for a wonderful 2024, ladies! So glad I discovered your channel earlier this year-it's really helped ignite my passion for the hobby. Have several games coming in 2025 that I've ordered based on your enthusiasm for them, including "Unconscious Mind," "Floe," and "Tofu Shifu." (Super excited for that first one! Even more so now that I see it's Maggie's #1.)
Thank you for taking the time to write such kind words about the channel and we're so happy that you're enjoying your journey deeper into the hobby. Do you own Uwe's a feast for Odin or Nusfjord? They are two of Maggie's favourite solo games and Feast is one of our all time favourites!
@@ThinkerThemer Oh, yes, I’ve had a copy of “A Feast for Odin” on my shelf for many years now, but have only just started to dig into it in earnest since I got into solo gaming. (Thank you Maggie for bolstering that enthusiasm, and both of you for convincing me not to be TOO daunted by all of those -1 VP spaces.) Haven’t tracked down a copy of “Nusfjord” yet, but it’s on the list!
Oh Maggie Wyrmspan is my favorite solo game EVER, funny thing I do not own it. My brother loaned it to me and I bought it for my son and now I"m hoping Santa brings it for me!!!! fingers crossed.
I hope you get it! I've been really enjoying it as a solo experience-the perfect medium-weight game to pull out when I want something a little crunchy but not too time-consuming.
I’ve played Imperium: Horizons solo 11 times this year, but all in the “training mode.” It’s fun for exploring the civilizations without the overhead/competition of the bot.
A great list and very entertaining video, thank you 😀. When I first heard of Civolution, i was excited, but I watched/read some reviews and got a bit afraid of the randomness, like even income is gated by a roll, the location of resources on the map. I don't mind some luck in games, but when they are this long and complex... Now seeing as you both loved it I'm putting it back up higher on the wishlist 😍 My list of favorite new (to me) big box euro games for 2024, not so sure on order: 1. Dune Imperium Uprising 2. Federation 3. Wondrous Creatures 4. Sankoré 5. Arborea 6. Darwin's Journey 7. Endeavor: Deep Sea 8. Oceans 9. Reef Project 10. Nova Roma
Looks like you had a great year of gaming! Yes there's still a bit of randomness in Civolution regarding the location of resources - but you can also buy and sell resources too. I think the obvious paths seem more random but if you play it more you learn how to mitigate. It's interesting to try to work out how to as well. It's still true though that other players may just get lucky ;) thanks for watching!
Great question about SETI. This was probably one of the only big box games we couldn't get a copy of this year before our list. We will definitely try it when we can and talk about our thoughts when we do, but being set in space might suppress it a little bit for us. We will see! It does seem to have a lot of fans though so we are keen to try it!
the left woman wearing THE Ring... so i suggest u two playing Duel: Lord of the Rings against each other... and of course shes playing saurons faction then😅

My favorite list of the year! Wishing you a very happy holiday season.
I always love seeing these 'end of the year' lists and yours are among my favorites. Thanks for the video, ladies!

I’ve held off on Civolution but the two of you have convinced me! Always look forward to these top tens.
Maggie your shirt is 🔥

Eeeee can't wait to try it!!! So happy it's brought you so much joy this year. Happy gaming!
Great list! Surprised Rise & Fall isn’t on Amy’s list I would have thought she would enjoy it

Thanks for the video. I’ll buy Civolution in January.
Lovely list. Thanks so much for sharing! And it was rather fun to have an early morning recording. :D
Thanks for watching 🥰
Good to see some love for Civolution considering the mixed reviews out there. I look forward to getting my copy to the table.
Mixed reviews? It’s BGG score is fantastic
Upgrade that insight and don't forget you can buy resources you can't find! :D

Enjoy getting into it!!! Loving the Christmas gift to self.... we're worth it! 🙌😁
Have a great holiday!
And to you too!
I’d been hanging out to see what your top 10 would be, love your channel, thank you! Have a great Xmas x

Great lists! Happy to see love for Rock Hard 1977!
Great video! Lots of games i’m interested in. Civolution and Andromedaks edge are must buy for me. Thank you. Merry christmas 🎉
Thank you!! Sounds like some self gifts are in order. You're worth it! :D

I'm excited to try Civolution. I have it but need to table it, hoping to soon
Great video! Lots of great titles I still need to try. Have an awesome Christmas you two ❤

My wife and I LOVE Wild Gardens. Wish it were getting more buzz
(Also have your promo card for it 😊)

Amy, am I just now noticing that if a game has tracks to move up, you swoon a little? 😍😂
Thank you for so much amazing content in 2024!🎉
Thank you for watching!!! 🥰
I love a good rondel so knowing that Tulip Valley has two…
was SETI out of the top 10 or it will be considered for 2025?
Great question about SETI. This was probably one of the only big box games we couldn't get a copy of this year before our list. So true Maggie, no one can hear you scream in space
What is Amy's #9?
I found it, It's Maggie's #1
Nice, but I wonder where is SETI?
Yes the one game we are yet to get out hands on! We will update if it changes anything!
You should be overtired more often. You were both especially entertaining in this one!
Hahahaha 😆 glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching
I’ve been debating about civolution anyone know how juicy it is solo? Idk if I can get wife to play with me haha
How do you spell your #2 game? I can't read the box cover and I'm not sure how you pronounced it. Subtitles would help in this case.
It's Huang! The link is under the Timestamp too (for this exact reason as Maggie thought the box would be challenging to read!)
I miss…SETI
the left woman wearing THE Ring... so i suggest u two playing Duel: Lord of the Rings against each other... and of course shes playing saurons faction then😅
I believe it's an Oura ring :-) quite a cool gadget to get
@crepusculo1027 ooo nice to know... never heard of it
Hehehe it's a RingConn 2 :) I love it for tracking sleep, steps & heart rate... I don't wear a smart watch because I like casios and gshocks too much!
@@ThinkerThemer hehe, that means if you look to much to the other side during a video, then it would start to beep, cause of increased heart rate:))
@tgg922 because of the anxiety-inducing pile of unplayed games on the floor? Lol 😆 🤣 OH the other way 🥰
