  • This is our experience, what & why which components you replace with a 2” lift.
2” is 50mm lift legal in most states. Vsr14.
Springs shockers struts control arms link pins trailing arms. This is on a Toyota Prado.

Anthony this is a lot of good stuff, i just got my Fortuner and now I'm even more impress. I wanted one for 15 years. It is 2008 model and in good shape. In South Afrika it's mean a lot of money.

I lifted an lc200 about 50 mm, alignment was impossible, caster was 0.5 degrees. I changed the UCA to aftermarket and the caster was able to reach 4 degrees. Much much better handling. Our highways are 160 km/h and it made a huge difference.

Well I did keep the front of my FJ almost OEM after my 3 inch lift. But I did change out my UCA with a set of SPCs. Great videos really enjoyed watching. 👍🏻

If a top hat spacer is fitted above the strut, to achieve the aforesaid "lift", then the static equilibrium point would still shift down. But would the strut's extended length also cause the down travel to increase beyond the previous droop limit. Would this mean that the wheel travel in this case is not conserved and has increased? (by an amount equal to spacer thickness) ?
Thanks for the video and effort in explaining it practically.

Hi mate ... have recently bought a 2005 120 VX with a Dobinsons 2 inch lift. The front end doesnt steer as well as my standard 90 series did and I have been advised to replace the UCA's (tough dog were mentioned) and possibly look at the steering rack bushes. Just wondering what your thoughts are, the car has only done 168.000km. Im a mechanical spastic, but love your video's. Cheers.

Hey mate can you make a video on loose feeling steering, the tie rods and rack ends have been done. Do these need to have steering racks replaced often?

      Yeah this would be good.
My 120 is pretty sloppy in steering and handling overall. Pedders “safety check” said control arms stufed and all shocks stuffed.
Need to know how to inspect and verify myself what I need to replace. And what you can supply / recommend.

Wouldn’t you recon the huge increase in strut strength might be a liability in case of overload? For example when driving stupidly and hitting a big rock or so…don’t you run a risk of damaging other components, if the strut won’t collapse at a certain force?

Own a 2014 FJ...84000 kms... service centre says the steering rack has play in it. Mainly on road driving. Wondering if this is common?

Hi Anthony, on my Hilux I have the Dobinson 2" lift and I was thinking of putting in the Dobinson upper control arms to correct the camber. It's maxed out but drives ok. Do you have any experience with this?

I’ve got billies on mine and approx 7 years road use (approx 150k) all for are stuffed apparently.
Need to call Anth and ask him about that and Control arms too when I ring about injectors.

Hey mate, love your channel and your bold statements regarding your expertise. However im a virologist ( virus specialist ) and that's not how a virus spreads . a bit of advice : don't listen to the news and get health advice. Thank you for your mechanical advice otherwise! keep up the great work
