I personally believe the predator laughed almost sort of sarcastically at himself. Sort of a "I can't believe I'm dying like this how ironic" and yes the predator decided to give dutch time to escape which is why there was a count down. Also I don't believe he used his bomb with intention to kill dutch because the predator's probably see a suicide attack against their opponents as dishonorable.
It finally realized why the chicken crossed the road and the answer was SO funny. Unfortunately, because it died, we will never know the most funny punch line to any joke ever told.
The City Hunter is more serious and doesn’t really care for anything except his hunt. He’s more of a punk in Predator 2, given that he loses and leaves behind his gear while he escapes.
What about his cloaking field? His plasma cannon? His act of ripping out people's spinal columns and taking skulls for trophies? His enormous physical strength, speed and durability? His carnivorous nature? His blood lust? His advanced technology? The fact that he's very cunning and doesn't care if he has to die? Son...
Yeah, but that's all shit that any monster would do. An animal. The laugh was sinister and had an insidious intellect behind it. It made the Predator into more of a character, rather than just a monster. That's important in any film.
remember the scene when he watches that guy kill the scorpion, then right after it shows predator watching someone laugh. Seems like he make a connection to laughing is something humans do at ones demise, and when he set his bomb to kill himself, he was about to be killed just like they killed the scorpion and laughed.
He recognised that laughter was a sign of jest among humans, and had enough of a sense of irony to use it in a way Dutch could understand: "Imagine that, me, a Yautja warrior, taken down by a puny hairless ape. Ain't that a laugh and a half!"
If I remember correctly I think I read somewhere in the comics that the predators don't quite have a vocal language like we know it but they are able mimic voices from their mouth like a parrot and their mask greatly enhances that ability. So since he saw the laughter I think he remember to mimic it.
Chicken Lover so basically the predator was saying "walk away" maybe because he assumed the laugh was an instruction to walk away because thats what it seen with hawkins and billy?
You raise a lot of good points there. And I agree that the Predator wasn't being a sore-loser, but rather was committing "honorable suicide" to retain his honor while removing all traces of his existence on Earth. Though I offer an alternative theory as to why the Predator was laughing. If I recall right, in the novel "ALIENS vs PREDATOR: Prey", it's suggested/stated that for the Yautja, one of the bravest things a hunter/warrior could do is go out bravely, laughing in the face of death itself. Obviously this is symbolic and probably not intended to be literal, but bear with me. While this movie was obviously made before the Yautja became an honor-bound race of hunters and warriors, this film would lay down the ground work for the species as we know and love 'em today. So while I could the Jungle Hunter's laughter as a way to warn Dutch that it's time for him to start running, I also see it as him LITERALLY laughing in the face of death... Dying with his head held high and his honor intact.
Jonathan Gunn the first movie also touched on the subject, as it was suggested that the predator spared unarmed prey. He also challenged dutch to single unarmed combat after he cornered dutch without weapons. Dutch was a worthy prey and the predator wanted to earn his tropy in a fair fight. In behind the scenes videos producers also mention them as honor bound hunters
Mr H Reviews It's interesting because the whole premise at the end of the film depends on the jungle Hunter ignoring the fact that when an animal is being hunted it becomes desperate and you can't assume it will die easily. Look up those videos of African hunts, or even war footage in Syria. Both animals and humans can get that adrenaline when they are near death. I would say it was this animal instinct that the predator counted out that got him in the end. He treated it as an honourable game only one player in this game gets a trophy and the other loses their life.
I'm not sure I'd call it overconfidence. A risky hunt means a more valuable trophy. The predators detonation device implies that suicide is a valid option to the yautja that they plan for. If he wasn't "overconfident" and would make sure that he wins every time (which would be easily doable with their kind of technology), then his trophies wouldn't be worth anything. He'd fail as a hunter. Getting killed by his prey however only proves how good he was at choosing his prey and offers a challenge to another member of his clan.
The fact that Predators show knowledge of human languages is fascinating. Like they use the right recordings to bait other prey and stuff or when the city hunter says "shit happens" as he admits defeat
Maybe humans are only species they hunt with so advanced "speching ability" so preds just start to learning about our languague and all "smarter" hunters know english etc, i mean they are inteligent idk about their language(seems like some growling, roars, and body language) but its shouldn't be hard to learn english for them with all that knowledge about human race... i mean not harder than learn english for humans its always easier to learn what something mean than how to say something
DevilDrako666 in some of the novelizations the predators refer to humans as the "soft meat" versus the xenomorph which they refer to as the "hard meat" though the name isnt meant to imply anything about the dangers associated with them...this seems to imply to me that the two species are their preferred prey, if they are giving them opposing pseudonyms like that. it seems to me that the yautja primarily hunt us and the aliens and then only periodicially hunt the other species we see in movies like Predators
I think he laughed because he was bested by the ultimate prey. He had killed a green beret squad, then he killed off well trained mercenaries. Dutch was the only one to figure the predator out and use his own traps to best him in combat. No one could catch on to the predator, so I think he was impressed by Dutch. Allowing him to escape the blast radius of the nuke.
I think the laugh is at Dutch for not killing him off with the rock, thus enabling him to use the mini-nuke..Either way he gets an honourable death so i reckon, its definately laughing at Dutch giving him the chance to make another move..Check and mate.
Good call on seeing the mini-nuke as another move. If Dutch gets out, the Predator gets a honourable death. If Dutch doesn't get out, the Predator gets a honourable death and kill. Win-win scenario.
who else feels we're reading too much into what is essentially a comic book [not to say it isn't great because it still is one of my faves !] I definitely felt it was a case of '' you should've killed me when you had the chance !!
All these theories are nice but I still l think it was far more basic thing. - His bomb had a countdown plain and simple. let's not think too much about why it had one. perhaps it was a complex mechanism in need to charge before it goes off, not an actual timer. - He laughed because he was sure that even though he would die he would take Dutch with him. For me it has ALWAYS been a "good job but you aren't getting outta here either" laugh. - he didnt give Dutch any time, Dutch simply realized early enough what was about to happen. - the Predator would not have laughed if he wasn't absolutely sure that the blast would kill Dutch which it frankly almost did. - Since it was the first film and we knew nothing about his race's culture at that point, this is basically the only explanation that makes sense given the available info. Everything else means givin it too much thought if you ask me. this was a fierce battle to the death and to me there was nothing honorable about the suicide, it was the Predator's last ace up his sleeve in a definitive attempt to slay Dutch. And nothing else.
Aaaaah... Predator 2... What a mixed bag that is. People love to hate it, but i believe it originated the honor trait in predators. I mean, before the scene in the ship, what evidence did we have that the Predator had honor? Because he took his mask off? That could be understood in so many ways...
Before that, the predator never attacked completely unarmed nonhostiles. And during the subway slaughter he went out of his way to spare the pregnant women.
This is like the joker's last moments in the Batman cartoon. Joker starts laughing when he realizes a bomb was on the airplane and he got blown up with it.
While laughing, he was thinking " I am such a jackass, i thought I am punching him, hitting him, making him crawl on the ground and will soon win this fight but he was actually taking me to his trap and i couldn't see that coming hahahhahhahahahah"
The explanation is ridiculously simple: The movie was the first step in the franchise and it was though as an horror movie where the predator was but a mere monster who enjoyed killing for sport and when he died he decided to take Dutch with him and so laughed viciously. So, the end of the movie cannot be seen in the context of what the franchise has become since then. All the stuff about honour etc has been created later (the first comic came out only 2 years later) and shouldn't be taken into account in that movie (you can even notice that the predator doesn't really behave honourably either in that movie by killing everyone in stealth and trying to do the same at first when Dutch challenges him).
Lights out AHA* SMASH * You like falling stars spaceman* SMASH * Your life is mud* SMASH * Now I'm feeling the heat* SMASH * Looks like your caught between a rock and a hard place* SMASH *
They were killing rebels that dosen't strip them of their innocence. Killing the innocent, a soldier who is trying to surrender, killing a criminal who has been evicted, sexual immorality or breaking the laws of the country your in is what strips you of your innocence.
Didn't the jungle hunter speak a few words in the first movie, at the end Dutch asks it "what are you" and the predator answers with the same line. To me this also hinted at how surprised the jungle hunter was when something he probably considered as easy prey put up such a good fight.
Seeing as the "Honour" code of the predators didn't exist at this point, I believe the laughter was originally intended to be the evil villain last laugh, though other speculation does make for a more interesting explanation as to why he laughed. Also does no one notice that the predator clearly says "What the hell are you" back to Dutch?
Mercy is a human quality, and our strength, if employed correctly but it's a weakness if by offering it would sow the seed of retribution from the enemy we spared. I personally thought this predator's laughs after Dutch spared him as a mercy by pity, which is an insult to him. The Predator was pitying his human prey who became his predator because he sees it as what makes our human species weak. As his last act of both mocking and teaching Dutch and his speciies a lesson he laughs and activate his self destruct bomb. Understand this clearly - this predator - and his kind has fought the merciless Aliens and their queen and sparing the Alien species is clearly foolhardy. Dutch should've mercy kill that dying, suffering predator and show no malice in that final act from warrior to warrior/hunter. That would've been noble in conclusion, but without realizing his action of sparing his predator turned prey means Dutch inadvertently looks down this creature with pity - which to the species like the Predators, Klingons, etc are 'insult'.
Imagine a parrot mimicking you. It's very croaky and the pitch is all wrong. Imagine if a parrot could play back to itself what you said at different pitches, until it could perfectly replicate that speech. That is how the predator mimics its prey. I believe that the predator uses the mask to analyse and study languages. It records the speech, it plays it back to itself at different pitches until it figures out how to replicate that, and then utilises it to hunt and trick prey. I even have proof of this. When Dutch says "What the hell are you?" The predator attempts to mimic it, but it's all very croaky and almost inaudible. But it's definitely there. The subtitles confirm it. The predator is trying to mimic Dutch, but he can't, at least not very well, because he doesn't have his mask to analyse the speech. He then initiates the self destruct sequence and laughs, which I know you said that it probably wouldn't be this, but I'd guess it is a last laugh kind of thing. It just doesn't really fit otherwise. It's the wrong kind of laugh. You said it yourself, Dutch denied the predator an honourable death. I'd be pretty pissed if I'd been waiting for years for an honourable death and when the moment arrived it was denied. The predator was probably pretty pissed at this, and set his wrist braver to overload, laughing and hoping that the blast would take Dutch out with him. That's most likely what happened. It explains everything quite simply without any plotholes
@@tomburgess8485 that's my take as well. I have zero knowledge of the book but to me, I don't think the story writer even conceptualized a "quick bomb" (besides, count-downs are vital to build suspense) nor did he intend any respect from predator to his rival. Predator believed the blast would get Dutch as well. The laugh, as you pointed out, was a mimic and was used intentionally.
Mr H, I don't believe it just mimicked Dutch in the girgle reply. But remember the Yaut /Pred replied with the emphasis on an ending Question mark, indicating comprehension of US American dialect of the English language."WHAAt The Hell are YOU?? Girgle"
Mr H, seriously your channel and your videos have become one of my absolute favourite things on UA-cam. I can honestly say I absolutely love what you're doing here with this channel & as a massive fan of both Alien & Predator I don't think I could have found a more interesting channel. Learned so much over the course of the last few weeks!
question: how did the predators come to acquire the xenomorphs? possible answer: the predators (alien race whose culture is based on war/fighting) hired the 'Engineers' to develop the ultimate species to fight against and test their strength. the engineers first developed us, humans, though we at first did not live up to the predators expectations as we were primitive and had not developed weapons yet. then the engineers developed the xenomorphs and were going to place them on the planet (earth) to create a game preserve.
I think he just finally got the "jeez you got a big p#$%%y" joke....lol. Great video as always Mr. H!! I like the speculation with the Jungle Hunter wanting a good death, and not getting it.
I think he was laughing because he thought the explosion was gonna kill Dutch as well as himself. Kind of a last laugh. I think the countdown timer had a set time, the same as in AvP
Ofcourse he laughed, is there really a debate about this? Really, what part of this, is hard to understand? First, we know that predators can mimic human speech, without the mask. (Remember the; "Take it" from Predator 2?') He started out in his speech pattern, than topped it off with as human as he could go and the reason he laughed, was very simple. He was having the "last laugh." After everything he put Dutch through, Dutch coming back and beating him, he was going to blow himself up and, in his mind, take Dutch with him. He may had won the battle but, HE was going to win the war. He initiated the self destruct, out of spite. (That, and it wipes out any trace of the predators, to eliminate discovery of their existence, if defeated.) He laughed because he thought he won. He wasn't expecting Dutch to survive and he found it funny. Basically, he gave a "maniacal laugh." Just like any true villain.
Moon Man I did, I didn't agree. This is called a "response." Just because you come from some noble or pristine race or tribe, doesn't mean everyone from that faction is going to be the same way. That predator was kinda a dick, not all his kills were that of a true hunter, (Killing a guy in a log and shooting off a guys arm and running in for the kill, is not noble.) and whether you want to try to tie in things about the species doesn't delude the fact that he was the stories villain. I use my own critical thinking and analysis and the way I see it, makes more sense. It was a laugh and one of the reasons he laughed, other than the ones I listed earlier, is that Dutch showed mercy. Do you think for one second, that the predator wouldn't have shot a lazer, through Dutch's head, if the role was reversed? He would have killed him and claimed his trophy. I'm sure the predator found it weak and foolish, to have shown such an action.
Oh, I found the ''I'm so smart and always right'' douchebag in the comment section. His laughter was up to interpretation, your view isn't necessarily the right one, so present it and don't play it off as fact. Thank you.
K4inan it's called common sense. It's a fucking movie anyways. Alot of you here act like these are real and that your some kinda zoologists. No wonder this planet is in so much trouble......
this planet is in trouble because of dicks like you who won't let people enjoy and discuss their different interpretations of things they enjoy yeah it is a fucking movie but the point of the fucking movie is to be entertaining so let people be entertained by it for christ's sake
you weren't just making a theory you were insulting people for coming up with different theories and being a dick saying "it's just a movie anyways why are you guys analyzing it?" and stop trying to intimidate me with that cliche "oh i bet you feel so safe behind that computer"
I completely agree. And honestly I don't have a theory on this. And that line from about City Hunter. 100% agree. But I think I've made that pretty clear on a previous video lol. Good job mate. And congrats on nearly 25k subscribers!
+King of all Saiyan, Vegeta hey dude! Thanks so much man, insane ride to this amount of subs, pretty crazy in honesty. A lot of people just commented crap on this video without listening to it just due to the title! Grrr!
My thought. Predator mimics some of the phrases of human voice or laughter example, Dutch says to him, what the hell are you, and predator also says what the hell are you. Just like a parrot mimics. He laughed while was wounded as he triggered the self destruct mode or maybe he self destructed the ship so that humans wont find and capture him or his ship. He luaghed like a villian laughes while dying in hand of hero.
i think, in this particular scene, he was laughing like "i win" since self detonating would technically be the final blow. In general, i think he recorded what they were all saying to get each individual's frequency right. This was displayed in the third one where danny trejo was used as bait. Also in the third one, he knew what Royce was saying telling he would cut him down if he told him where the ship was and where he wanted to go
I like the idea that the countdown's purpose is to give time the honorable pray to run. I knew it is to clear all evidence of the hunter's presence, but I used to think, besides that it kills the prey too as a kind of a revenge. But I think the theory, that the prey can escape from the detonation fits more to the yautja culture which is based on honor. But in the context of the movie, it seems most likely as he has the last laugh. However he failed, he takes Dutch with himself in the death. Personally, I prefer the previous idea, that the prey has time to escape, and the predator's laugh was a try to sing Dutch to run.
My thought on this is: You have to remember that the American culture revolves around the "deadly countdown" and of course them saving the day at the very last second is a constant in their movies. Simply pushing the button would be too boring, let the countdown do it's magic.
Dude, your Theory is awesome! Makes trotal sense and makes the ending even better and it furthers my admiration for the Predators. To me they are the perfect Antagonist and Anti Hero´s not in every Movie they are but thats how it should be as an Anti hero in my opinion, sometimes your just the Bad Dude aswell. Great video as per usual =)
I think the predator can laugh on its own without a stolen pre-recording. If we take the Predator mission on in Tim Clancy's: Ghost Recon Wildlands, you go through a series of investigation points of mutilated corpses (scare tactics) find his ship and chase him through the jungle. When found your prompted to fight him, and just before the Predator dies, he laughs. Throughout the mission the predator does mimic your Ghost Squads voices but not once do your men laugh. I believe that Predators can laugh. Therefore have voices, therefore Predators must have other ways of communication through emotion, such as empathy, saddness, happiness, honour, and/or pride. So your right man, but the possibility of his voice being just simply recorded and played back is honestly just as likely but I think it woulda sounded different. Great video man!
Thank you for this; I always thought the self-destruction was dishonourable and that pestered me for years. Your explanation clears everything up nicely.
The stealth gives them a tactic advantage by any means necessary it was honorable to give dutch a chance to survive as the predator did or maybe he just wanted to fuck dutch a last man standing thing neither the less that laugh haunted dutch for the rest of his life that's for sure. What the hell are you.
ultimajedi They're not completely invisible. The predator was shot by Mac when it's cloaking device was activated. If it didn't use the stealth , there was a higher risk of being killed by Dutch's team.
He probs laughed cause he made his death like a sacrifice, mini-nuked himself to kill the enemy, and that the other predators could avenge his death, so his laugh was like "I won anyway" knowing more predators would come to honour him, and that's when the other movies come in.
Why are you over examining this? The only reason the predator laughed was because in the 70's the movies sometimes got pretty stupid and silly. And this is just another one of those examples.
Seemed to me that the Jungle Hunter was marveled by the skills of Dutch. After falling prey to Dutch's traps, being outwitted by a Human, there was an undertone of irony to the laugh.
Would’ve been great if when Dutch held up the rock and then didn’t use it, the predator mimicked him and said “cmon do it! I’m right here! Kill me I’m here!” It would’ve made no sense but I would’ve got a laugh out of it
This makes me think of the concrete jungle game. In the beginning of that game, Scar suffers a bad fall and sees no real way of getting back to his ship, so he sets off the countdown, but it's his ship that blows up rather than his wrist bracer, the result was the destruction of an entire city, which he survived. If we consider this to be canon to the predator universe, and the AvP movies as non-canon alternate universes, then it's quite possible that, after that incident, they started putting the explosives in the wrist bracers to make the odds of survival for the Yautja, and thus dishonor, zero.

It was because of the echo

That laugh turned the Predator from a simple movie monster into a truly terrifying character.

who else feels we're reading too much into what is essentially a comic book [not to say it isn't great because it still is one of my faves !] I definitely felt it was a case of '' you should've killed me when you had the chance !!
+MioRaem where's the fun in that......
I agree
Exactly this.
I wonder if the Predator would still be laughing if the bomb didn't go off 🤔
I think he was happy he fought a honorable fight
+Derrick Couch potentially dude
you can tell from his blood that he has high cholesterol
He remembered a dank pepe
+Ana -Ill sit on your face - Kasparian dank...... Hmmm.....
Do a video on if the Predators or Engineers have more highly developed memes than us 👌
nah thats a job for some idiot
So, why aren't you doing it?
DAMN!
He failed a try not to laugh challenge
Aaaaah... Predator 2... What a mixed bag that is. People love to hate it, but i believe it originated the honor trait in predators. I mean, before the scene in the ship, what evidence did we have that the Predator had honor? Because he took his mask off? That could be understood in so many ways...
+Rodislav Canev I personally think predator two is really underrated
Rodislav Canev and he gave Danny Glover that pistol in peed 2
Mr H Reviews it was..
P2 is awesome, it deserves more love then hate.
Well looks like we'll never know on why he laughed at.. _the final countdown_ . 😅
+IronClaw3000 lol!
hehe ...wow.. that song referenced as a pun was actually funny? 😆
+IronClaw3000 the final countdown is always funny when referenced, mainly because it auto plays in your brain
😌 (I'm nodding in agreement Mr H Reviews)
Great pun mate.
While laughing, he was thinking
" I am such a jackass, i thought I am punching him, hitting him, making him crawl on the ground and will soon win this fight but he was actually taking me to his trap and i couldn't see that coming hahahhahhahahahah"
😺He was feeling good!
+cookeycat :-/
¯\_(´◕ω◕`)_/¯
He had a funny joke in his head for his final act
Too bad they didn't shoot an alternate ending, where Dutch kills the Predator with that rock.
Lights out AHA* SMASH *
You like falling stars spaceman* SMASH *
Your life is mud* SMASH *
Now I'm feeling the heat* SMASH *
Looks like your caught between a rock and a hard place* SMASH *
Because no one wanted it lol.
ScorpDoesRBLX 😂 exactly, I thinks of the Predator character was actually a good guy, because he didn't kill any innocent people
Why dosen't Dutch's team count as innocent.
They were killing rebels that dosen't strip them of their innocence. Killing the innocent, a soldier who is trying to surrender, killing a criminal who has been evicted, sexual immorality or breaking the laws of the country your in is what strips you of your innocence.
…… the predator thinks dutch will not escape the blast zone.
"You enjoy killing South Americans, don't you? How did it feel being on the receiving end?"
He watched avp and laughed.
*He laughed because he thought he had the last laugh. He who laughs last laughs loudest. He thought he won because the bomb was going to kill arnold.*
Sir Ratman yeah I figure it was a kind of “yeah I’m going down, and I’m taking you with me, fucker!”
Holy shit I’m a genius this theory is fantastic
@@tomburgess8485 that's my take as well. I have zero knowledge of the book but to me, I don't think the story writer even conceptualized a "quick bomb" (besides, count-downs are vital to build suspense) nor did he intend any respect from predator to his rival. Predator believed the blast would get Dutch as well. The laugh, as you pointed out, was a mimic and was used intentionally.
'Cause the Predator always has the last laugh /video
Jokes aside, I love the videos you make and always watch them during Uni breaks. Keep them up!
+Yannik Welsch thanks man, glad you enjoy my content!
+Cubejam ah man, thank you so, so much for your kind words! Really that means an incredible amount dude!!!!
4:21.... close enough time for a bong lol. Great vid bro only finding your channel recently liked and subbed instantly
question: how did the predators come to acquire the xenomorphs?
possible answer: the predators (alien race whose culture is based on war/fighting) hired the 'Engineers' to develop the ultimate species to fight against and test their strength. the engineers first developed us, humans, though we at first did not live up to the predators expectations as we were primitive and had not developed weapons yet. then the engineers developed the xenomorphs and were going to place them on the planet (earth) to create a game preserve.
let me know what you think of my theory and comment if you agree, disagree, or want to add to my theory
HK sounds good, I had a similar theory
Predator: "I just remembered last week my Uncle said 'I have had a bite all day!' SO I BIT HIM! LOL!"
I didn't know that James Earl Jones had his own youtube channel
I think he just finally got the "jeez you got a big p#$%%y" joke....lol. Great video as always Mr. H!! I like the speculation with the Jungle Hunter wanting a good death, and not getting it.
I think he was laughing because he thought the explosion was gonna kill Dutch as well as himself. Kind of a last laugh. I think the countdown timer had a set time, the same as in AvP
he was remembering a funny joke he heard.
Would be cool to have you go over how the predators actually talk to one another, if they even do.
"I knew a man who once said that death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back."
Maximus
Do you think for one second, that the predator wouldn't have shot a lazer, through
Dutch's head, if the role was reversed? He would have killed him and claimed his trophy. I'm sure the predator found it weak and foolish, to have shown such an action.
Oh, I found the ''I'm so smart and always right'' douchebag in the comment section. His laughter was up to interpretation, your view isn't necessarily the right one, so present it and don't play it off as fact. Thank you.
K4inan it's called common sense. It's a fucking movie anyways. Alot of you here act like these are real and that your some kinda zoologists. No wonder this planet is in so much trouble......
this planet is in trouble because of dicks like you who won't let people enjoy and discuss their different interpretations of things they enjoy
yeah it is a fucking movie but the point of the fucking movie is to be entertaining so let people be entertained by it for christ's sake
you weren't just making a theory you were insulting people for coming up with different theories and being a dick saying "it's just a movie anyways why are you guys analyzing it?" and stop trying to intimidate me with that cliche "oh i bet you feel so safe behind that computer"
Predator probably understood the laugh as a sign of comradery.
the predator laugh because he can't "get to the choppa"
I completely agree. And honestly I don't have a theory on this. And that line from about City Hunter. 100% agree. But I think I've made that pretty clear on a previous video lol. Good job mate. And congrats on nearly 25k subscribers!
+King of all Saiyan, Vegeta hey dude! Thanks so much man, insane ride to this amount of subs, pretty crazy in honesty. A lot of people just commented crap on this video without listening to it just due to the title! Grrr!
makes sense with the jungle hunter giving Dutch enough time to escape after giving him a worth battle.
+john Gavin glad you like my point of view on it!
Predator laughed with Billy's laughing in memory of Billy's courage to face him with bare hands
Cas he heard Arnold's accent.
Now im laughing. T-minus 10...9...8...
Also in the third one, he knew what Royce was saying telling he would cut him down if he told him where the ship was and where he wanted to go
Thanks!
Before laughing, predator repeats Schwarzenegger's dialog: "what the hell are you?"
My thought on this is: You have to remember that the American culture revolves around the "deadly countdown" and of course them saving the day at the very last second is a constant in their movies. Simply pushing the button would be too boring, let the countdown do it's magic.
i mentioned that, however i think my initial points are far more interesting than that simple explanation
When i first time saw the movie and the Predator started laughing i started singing "IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN !!!"
laughter is universal among all languages and races of people. it was the only way to tell him you will leave to see another day.
so why wouldn't laughter be universal just to our species?
This channel is addictive.
+CH7 glad you enjoy it man
He suffered from implanted dank meme post syndrome(IDMPS)
John That's not how it works it would have to be post- dank meme syndrom.
Dr jimmy the swagmyster actually it's would be "syndrome meme dank post -" Was diagnosed with it next week
He started laughing because he finally understood a joke his friend told him.
To get to the other side
Dude, your Theory is awesome! Makes trotal sense and makes the ending even better and it furthers my admiration for the Predators. To me they are the perfect Antagonist and Anti Hero´s not in every Movie they are but thats how it should be as an Anti hero in my opinion, sometimes your just the Bad Dude aswell. Great video as per usual =)
Because he wasn't Jean claude van damme
In the AvP comics it was revealed that this predator was laughing because it recalled a really funny episode of The Golden Girls.
The predator laughed because he felt like it........Theory solved.....
He probably just remembered a really funny predator joke.
Terminator killed the predator.
No Predator killed himself
Should any intelligent race have a since of humor laughter is in all creatures in a way
Thank you for this; I always thought the self-destruction was dishonourable and that pestered me for years. Your explanation clears everything up nicely.
If they're so honorable, why use stealth?
I don't think you get the point.
ultimajedi there also hunters. They take out the weak links first and save the best for last. Also if you're hunting do you not use stealth?
The stealth gives them a tactic advantage by any means necessary it was honorable to give dutch a chance to survive as the predator did or maybe he just wanted to fuck dutch a last man standing thing neither the less that laugh haunted dutch for the rest of his life that's for sure. What the hell are you.
ultimajedi They're not completely invisible. The predator was shot by Mac when it's cloaking device was activated. If it didn't use the stealth , there was a higher risk of being killed by Dutch's team.
Cause they have the "technology" if we had that kind of tech we'd do it too..
Someone should prank their mom and put the predators laugh as the main ringtone on their moms phone lol
he laugh because in 2017 trump will be president.
Rai 09
That's dumb
Rai 09 hahahahahah so funny
He probs laughed cause he made his death like a sacrifice, mini-nuked himself to kill the enemy, and that the other predators could avenge his death, so his laugh was like "I won anyway" knowing more predators would come to honour him, and that's when the other movies come in.
Why are you over examining this? The only reason the predator laughed was because in the 70's the movies sometimes got pretty stupid and silly. And this is just another one of those examples.
+Bobby Keemstar why not, its fun
.... DID YOU JUST REPLY TO MERE MORTAL LIKE ME!? THE GREAT UA-camR HAS RESPONDED TO ME.
+Bobby Keemstar I always try and reply....
70's lul
by 70's do you mean 1987? good try but that is super easy information to access if you plan to make a comment that isn't furthering the conversation.
Predators CAN talk! The jungle hunter repeated "What the hell are you" to Dutch without the bio-mask!
I first saw this film when I was about 7 years old, and the Predator laughing was the creepiest thing ever!
Seemed to me that the Jungle Hunter was marveled by the skills of Dutch. After falling prey to Dutch's traps, being outwitted by a Human, there was an undertone of irony to the laugh.
I think he laughed in disbelief at how a human could beat him and was a worthy adversary
Predator are like samsurai, when wounded or at brink of death, they harakiri themselves.
This sounds like a "why did the chicken cross the road?"-type of question.
I like this! Never really thought about the count down as a way of letting him live.
it laughed because Arnie is standing over it in victory and it believes its bomb will also kill him as well, so no victory for anyone
Would’ve been great if when Dutch held up the rock and then didn’t use it, the predator mimicked him and said “cmon do it! I’m right here! Kill me I’m here!” It would’ve made no sense but I would’ve got a laugh out of it
He was laughing at himself for getting trapped after knowing one was set up for him 🤣
I think that Dutch knew that the predator wanted an honorable death, and simply denied the predator such a luxury
That Pred had THC as blood, that's why he laughed, after the violent paranoia phase passed 😂
+L3X1899 love that game, did a video on it
the Predator laugh as a substitute to saying "Get to the choppa!"
He laughed after hearing Arnold accent
