lol me vr900 just died, going to purchase this model on a tight budget...hence should check out bunnings, they also stock modem/routers for smart homes setup...they also price beat 5% other retailers who stock the same stock
Tech Man Pat, man this is all so confusing, you do a good job at explaining. I have Optus NBN FTTN and I need a Modem/Router but I also want to be able to still use a standard phone line for emergencies for the kids, big single story with lots of sport/video streaming and some online games. Do you have recommendations up to $250ish???
the speeds are being throttled by the fact he is on FTTN as the copper section can only support upto a set speed and it lowers over distance. Speeds can also be affected by the Chipset inside a modem. This is why when he changed modems to one with probably a more upto date chipset the line sync speeds were raised. I would still recomend one day trying a Netcomm NF18ACV on the line as the Modem in that is great but the wifi speeds just suck.
@@BenjiDoodle SNR margin is 8.2 db it should be 6 db that is why i think his isp is throttling his speed I'll check the Netcomm NF18ACV out as i need two Thank you
Is there anyway to set this up to bypass the FTTC connection box, e.g. input the box details into this modem so I just have 1 device on my kitchen bench instead of 2?
Hi Pat, i have the VR400 which is getting a tad old. Do you think I would see better speeds with the VR300 you talked about? We do a fair bit of gaming and streaming movies etc.
So, I'm planning to upgrade my internet connection to my local UltraFast Fibre network, with preference for up to 900Mbps. Are you telling me that this modem-router cannot pass through any more than 100Mbps to my pc? Did I just waste my money on this?
Hey Tech Man Pat, my premises is HFC and I am soon going to sign up with Future BB on their 25/10 plan. I am on a budget and have this AC1200 VR 300 as a hand-me-down from my brother and was wondering if it will work fine with HFC and Future BB plans? Appreciate your input, Cheers.
Hi, I have FTTN/FTTB and I've been recommended TP Link 2100, it also came with an extender, what are your opinions? Also do you recommend something else?
Hi Pat

Muhammad Saad Aamer thanks mate will do !

Thanks, Pat! 👍
The range is very poor
Should I get a router to boost up the range and speed
Is there a guide to setting up this modem on Telstra NBN FTTN I've been trying to set It up but with no luck?.

HI Akid, the AC1200 will not be a modem for you, it will act as a router on HFC so it should be fine.

250 total mix of wireless and wired
