They could do a cheap movie and could end up in dinosaur island which would be cool to see in live action, they could honestly do a 25 million budget film and have him be with a expendable team trying to carry out a target in dinosaur island, give a director full range, and maybe throw in a few dc characters or a throwaway villain

Sgt. Rock was THE comic when I was a kid. I thought superheroes were for 5 year olds - I still kind of do to be honest with you - and I really didn't get why people read them. But Sgt. Rock? That was the real thing!! When I outgrew GI joe and realized just how nonsensical it was, Sgt. rock was my next step. I loved that comic and I was so disappointed when they canceled it in the late 80s.. If DC is smart they will make this movie because people are finally tired of superhero movies. It's just the same crap over and over and over. They could make a movie that is actually for grown ups and young people.
Sargent Rock vs Army of Dead, would make more sense to make into a film. With nazy German zombies soldiers in the mix. This would make a great action war horror film. And I read the six part comic books story by Bruce Campbell. Brilliant book to read I recommend this to anyone to read. 📚📽🎞🧟♂️
It’s actually Frank Rock and NO superpowers. That’s how DC screwed up Jonah Hex. Sgt. Rock was just an everyman in WWII. He was a steel worker from Pittsburg who enlisted after Pearl Harbor. He was a typical, dedicated citizen-soldier of that generation who happened to be exceptional at soldiering. He was loyal to his men and dedicated to the cause. They shouldn’t mess with the recipe. They just need to write a great storyline and get good actors to do it!
Maybe the JSA could appear. Also, Gunn said one of these three rumors is false: Sgt Rock, Plastic Man, Teen Titans. Do the math, Sgt Rock is the least likely of the three.

As a huge fan and collector of comics, I must oppose your premise that non-superhero books aren’t escapism, and don’t warrant a film in the DCU. First off, there is a clamoring from the mainstream audience that superheroes have over-saturated the film industry. Whether or not we as fans feel the same way, we should at least acknowledge the sentiment, and consider the interests of the audience as a whole. Second, there are very few WWII veterans still living today, a war which impacted the globe on a scale never seen prior or since. Escapism doesn’t have to be sci-fi, paranormal, fantasy, or supernatural. All that is required is a story that transports its audience from the mundane reality of day-to-day life. Lastly, the inclusion of a film like Sgt. Rock in the DCU leaves the door open for all sorts of potential crossovers, a proven vehicle for success in both comics and comic-inspired films. Imagine Wonder Woman, Hawkman, or any of the original Justice Society members making an appearance in a Sgt Rock film, or vice versa. I hope the film gets made, and more importantly, gets made right. I see the potential for greatness here, and I hope that I’ve at least tweaked your opinion slightly.

So I don’t get what you’re talking about. He’s not alienating anyone. We don’t need to jump into an another Justice League film right now, Aquaman or The Flash. - perhaps your concern is with the source material he’s using. Honestly as someone who likes to read about world war two and watch world war two movies, I wouldn't mind checking this out it got off the ground.
A Sgt. Rock movie is currently in development for the DCU with Luca Guadagnino directing and Justin Kuritzkes writing the screenplay.
Robert Patrick would be perfect casting, and Gunn worked with him on Peacemaker.
