Our event is called TEDxABQ, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxABQ event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
Whats happening there, is a 'child' making what adults find hard, look easy... & I'm talking about the depth of character as much as technique there. Very VERY inspiring how wonderful to see :)
I broke down into tears while watching this. I've always been extremely and unhealthily hard on myself especially when it came to dancing because I loved it so much that I wanted to do my absolute best at it. My parents and everyone around me agreed that I was too negative and hard on myself but I didn't listen and it always lead to hating myself as a ballerina. This has inspired me to just dance. Dance because I love it and can't live without it. Dance for no one other than myself. Juliet Doherty is one of my favourite dancers (like ever) and I'm so glad I watched this.
Vicky Robinson you have no idea how much I relate to this. I've been the same way ever since earlier this semester at a conservatoire in southeast asia and ive been trying to find ways around it. Hope youre doing amazing now though you deserve to feel weightless! Dance is supposed to make you happy
Truly inspiring. I have been dancing for 14 years now, and I am constantly judging my own dancing. I have now realized that this is preventing me from reaching my full potential. I can be great if I allow myself to be, and I cannot be my own critic. Juliet Doherty has a beautiful message that can affect anyone, not just dancers. And, of course, her talent is exquisite.
I don't think it is talent. I think it is sheer hard work.
Such maturity, such poise at that age, bless her
you can see how she feels and moves perfectly with the music. absolutely amazing.
Wow! At 15, being able to give a Ted Talk is a huge accomplishment!! Kudos to her!
Her dancing was just as beautiful as her words. What an amazing young woman, whose blessed and talented beyond her years! Fantastic job, public speaking and dancing at her level is so difficult☆
Great talk. And beautiful dancing, with artistry and feeling. I can see when you are dancing you are completely absorbed in it and not thinking of judgement or competition.

Juliet !!! You are amazing !!! Waw I cannot believe what I've just seen and heard. You are still so young and already so mature and so bright !!! And super congratulations for your beautiful dancing ... you are the "reincarnated Grace" :) Hi from France !!!
I know she had grown to be a great person by now!!!
Juliet, I just stumbled upon this and am so proud of where you are now. I'll never forget how much you inspired me even when you were so young as Clara on our tour, and you and your mom were my saving grace constantly with Kyra. You are a magnificent person and dancer and I will never forget you. P.S. You'll have to meet Kyra and Ferrara (who I was pregnant with during the season) now that they have grown up a bit! Best wishes for your future success! xoxo
Wasn't expected to be blown away by the wisdom from this cute little girl (or rather her parents). As an Asian student, accustomed to strict authoritarian-crackdown training regimes, I'm at once inspired and sad that there is another way of living to achieve excellence
Powerful message here. In the struggle for Excellence, it's so easy to lose sight of just enjoying our gifts. We're at our best when we love what we're doing and doing what we love.
Her hands are just magnificent!!!
She's a beautiful dancer, wow!!!
Beautiful solo and so well spoken even when she was so young. Bravo 👏🏼
This is exactly why my dance studio doesnt compete. The strive to win in competition practically washes out the enjoyment, artistry, and passion that dancers are intended to have
She's so inspiring ...love her !♥
Love how she spotted whenever she did pirouettes
she’s great. this speech has a powerful meaning. c;
A most wonderful, gifted, caring, hard working person ❤️
Such wisdom from someone so young!
Juliet! Fantastic! I love your message! It was wonderful to meet you at TEDxABQ. You are a superstar!
This is the most inspiring speech I ever heard... Juliet you're an truly amazing dancer, keep going and be great!
I remember starting dance classes with her when we were little. It is so awesome to see how she continues to grow and gain popularity.
An absolutely stunning heart and a stunning performance. Thank you Juliet. Yes, I am most my authentic self when I 'just dance'.
Love Dance. Love Life.
Her smile …She got me ~
She is a great and we all great!
A trained ballet dancer telling the rest of us to be great. Once, I was really hard on myself, then I had mentors and coaches step in and totally balance me out. Ok.
yes it feels good to do things just cuz you like them, not cuz you're competing. "virtue is its own reward" is another way of saying it
3:38SHE GREAT
When I saw her in the Ballerina Project I thought she was way older, I'm surprised she's my age!
Beautiful and inspiring! Always do what you love and forget the rest. Way to be great!
That dance was breathtaking
@Abbytheballerina Juliet was in First Position and she is the girl jumping on the movie poster that promotes it.
She's so lucky that her mom's her coach! I wish I had the money to go to an arts school, my ballet lessons are twice a week only, but I definitely will keep working to become better and betterm
What a talented young lady!
This was absolutely beautiful! Both the message and the dancing.
is it just me or is the sound a little off?
Absolutely beautiful!
JUST BEAUTIFUL
Oh my- her arches
Thank you for the answer, Steve Thompson
Actually, she is! When Miko is waiting in the wings before she does the Kitri variation, a girl says good luck to her and that's Juliet Doherty. You also see her run off stage right before Miko runs out onto the stage.
That speech really inspired me!
It is great to tell others great, really great
Literally my hometown hero. She's great.
You are really great to be yourself!!
I dunno who's better??? miko or juliet ..but I think they both have great techniques and lines and emotions and they're just both different dancers..
it's too hard to choose!!
Slaytina 89 for me I would say miko because although sometimes she doesn't show her emotion well and sometimes struggles to maintain turnout, she has still has great technique overall and strength!
i guess thats the point . they are both GREAT , not better or worse- just GREAT!!
I'm DEAD cuz Miko stopped dancing
Then why compare them?
Abbytheballerina : yes she was. She was on one of the covers, and featured twice.
I needed this
Congratulations, that's beautiful... May God bless you and your family... Very awesome
Isn't this the actress from "high strung (2019)"?
Yep!
Wow, shes so graceful like a swan:) She is inspiring:)
Juliet, you are my hero! My inspiration to keep on dancing.. :D your so beautiful
Exquisite - beautifully performed.
Simply beautiful...
Her back is awesome!
This 15 year old has realized things that adults have yet to see
Inspiring, thank you.
It was so beautiful!
Fantastic!
this is just amazing!!!!
Very good.
Fantastico!
That was wonderful
Wow! You're an awesome speaker and dancer.
I think it's Nocturne in C-sharp minor. I don't know what version, but I heard the piano version of this.
i agree. that's what makes ballet an art form, not a sport. though it may be much more difficult, in my opinion of course ;), it is not a sport and should not be compared from one dancer to the next because unlike, for example, soccer is played all the same, dance is different. there are so many different ideas about what is perceived as beautiful in the dance world, and that's something that makes it very difficult because there is such a variety.
AMAZING!
her feet are goals
great job
How come Juliet is not doing YAGP this year:( I was really looking forward to seeing her dance, and she wasn't at the competition or on line!!!! Does any body know????
You are soooo GREAT! And astoundingly beautiful
What she said was profound, especially coming from a 15-year-old
Perfect
Her mom is my dance teacher
Wha?
🤯
The music is from swan lake, dying swan
It's very similar :) but it's Chopin - Nocturne No.20 in C-Sharp. And technically, The Dying Swan was originally only a solo dance choreographed by Mikhail Fokine to Camille Saint-Saëns's Le Cygne from Le Carnaval des Animaux as a variation for the lovely Anna Pavlova. But it ended up heavily influencing adaptions of Swan Lake. It's honestly my favorite piece. The only ballet that ever made me cry.
SHE'S VEGAN YALL
yoonmin rise Are her pointes vegan? I've always been curious if professionals wear vegan pointe shoes.
thaaank god
CARMEN ¡That makes it even more beautiful!
@@ezgistumpmusic4300 I'm coming fused by what you said
She is just adorable. What's the name of the song?
Beautifully said and danced! You're amazing. Is that original choreography?
genial
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤
A young product of the Cultural Architecture Training Methodology!
She has a classic Balanchine body. And now, dancers like Misty Copeland are role models, too, with a different kind of body and talent that just couldn't be ignored. I just hope this pretty young lady eats a healthy diet, no anorexia-bulemia.
very strong dancer.
Wow Juliet You are A M A Z I N G!
Uaua..
congratulations
What does she know, she has listened to everything that her parents told her. Good robot. Great robot 👍
she goes to sf ballet now
There needs to be a HUmanitarian endeavor to create this kind of life for all little girls. And without suffering death, and mayhem first. But if you compare Michaela De Prince and Juliet Doherty after suffering from a trauma, which do you think will continue under such circumstances. Easy lives = weakness.
She wasn't in First Position...? Says so in the description box.
Dance Magazine brought me here
The whole thing about competition is what my dance teacher said.. Basically. She done any compet because that's not dancing.
Do anybody know, which music it is?
maria magnolia - Chopin Nocturne in C# minor (No. 20)
soloist but principal dancer , i dont like that you gonna have a special shine for get a lead role. That feeling and another stuffs
She's so lucky that she got to be a dancer. I would love to be a dancer but.. it costs a lot of money😧(sorry for my english)
i came here because of high strung
What is the name of the piece she danced?
Chopin's Nocturne No. 20 in C-sharp minor (played on a violin instead of the original piano)
