Janhvi is not exceptional in acting BUT she's serious about her art n choosing good content oriented movies with meaty roles instead of going with eye candy sideroles that will boost her stardom way quicker. She is choosing the unconventional, harder path which requires GUTS. I admire that.

I hate her for her acting skills. But u r right. She doesn't do eye candy role. I mean if ur parents have influence in industry then u don't have to do eye candy roles to be famous. U will get chance easily.
If they have the will. If they r okay with eye candy roles like ananya etc. Then it's their wish.
Also people won't accept her when she chooses to be eye candy anyway

I think she and the people around her overestimate her capabilities. Otherwise, why would they give her something as huge as Gunjan Saxena for her 2nd film when she can hardly move her facial muscles. I think she should play challenging supporting roles in good movies till she has enough experience to pull the crowd with her performance.

Why do starkids get a million chances to “improve with every film” . But non star kids are supposed to be excellent in their first movie. This is the reason for hate, Arjun Kapoor is probably acting now after being expressionless for 10 yrs, but audience is fed up of the multiple chances he was given.
The original actress of the movie,Nayanthara is a seasoned actress, what wasn’t a older talented actress cast for the Hindi remake ? Why does everything have to be given to star kids ?

See remakes aren't gonna work anymore, due to the availability of the originals widely on digital platforms. I as a viewer would choose an original movie rather than a remake. People are rejecting mediocrity no matter how much heart and soul is there in the product because they have wide range of options from around the world.
Covid has drastically changed the movie going experience and thank god has changed the standards of entertainment for the people across the globe including Indians.
Kareena Kapoor once said on nepotism." We don't force the audience to go and watch our movies, Don't watch them as simple as that."
    So people stopped. 🙂

Exactly my point too brother 👏👏👏....
Almost every 2nd film from bollywood these days is a remake, I'm not saying making a remake is a bad thing, but bollywood is not showing any interest in original content it seems... In a way we as audience r responsible for that, coz we r appreciating these remakes, y should we watch a shitty remake with bare minimum talented actors when original films with better actors r available on ott with subtitles???
This movie was a cheap copy of *Nayanthara's* movie Kolamavu kokila , even the title seems to be stolen from *Keerthi suresh's* movie *Good luck sakhi* they changed it to *Good luck jerry* no effort in even selecting an original title😒🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
the only effort director Sidharth sengupta showed was in writing vulgar cheap lines like *Bechari mumme bechti he* and *aapki toh tatti b sunghlete na police wale* ...
In the original Nayanathara portrays the role like an emotionless person, with a straight face, that's coz her mom was dying, so that's the way her character needs to be portrayed... But in here janhvi is laughing, dancing, talking double meaning dialogues n what not🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
That's the kind of effort whole cast have put....
They casted Deepak dobriyal for yogi babu's role, coz he is enough to attract the audience and to get their appreciation...
No matter how good the original films could be, bollywood toh hume OG ko spoil karke aakhir cringe hi bechenge, aur janta khoob protest karenge against these star kids who don't even know how to act, so, to balance that hatred towards these star kids like Janhvi, sara, ananya pandey, sonam kapoor,... Bollywood mastered a technique to cast better actors in other less important roles, coz they know hum toh un better actors k liye pahunch jayenge theatres ko, that's the reason y they casted Deepak dobriyal for yogi babu's role...
This formula doesn't just applies to this film...
Sonam kapoor + better actors (Dhanush/ Fawad khan/ Raj kumar rao/ swara bhasker/ dulqar salman/ ayushman khurana) = less hatred
Sara ali khan + Sushanth singh rajput/ karthik aryan/Dhanush = less hatred
Ananya pandey+ jaideep Ahlawat/ karthik aryan/ Vijay devarakonda= less hatred
Now janhvi kapoor + deepak dobriyal = less hatred...

To all those who r gonna attack me after reading this, hear this too...I agree that making remakes is not a bad thing... Back those days we used to watch remakes coz we r unaware of originals n other industries, but now the tables r turned, thanks to OTT platforms, we were introduced to indian cinema, so rather than wasting our hard earned money on shitty remakes, we can just watch the originals with subtitles on ott platforms...

What is really unfortunate is that we have great writing and screenplay, exceptional supporting actors, a good budget, and yet we have a main character who can be "improving with every film". Once we know a star kid has been launched and have failed to prove themselves, why not cast actors who are really talented in the main role. I would definitely not want to watch a movie just because Jhanavi Kapoor is in it. There is no pull in it for me. I would have definitely watched it, if all the actors were good, especially the lead.
It's quite stupid to keep giving star kids chances when Noone is going to watch their performances. Move on to the plethora of talent, be it actors from the film background or not, who have actually shown to be good at want they do.

Her efforts are not good enough for the audience to engage with the scene rather than focus on her acting cause it's pricks out in an amateurish way. Nepo kids have no such desperations since it's a well known fact that nepo kids will keep on getting film after film despite flopping. Survival is not a concern for them. 1. Praise mediocre acting - Watched the movie, and when you have a powerhouse of supporting cast like Ratna Pathak and Deepak Dobriyal, Jhanvi sticks out for all the wrong reasons, and was average at best. Had it been some outsider instead of Jhanvi, I don't think the review would be kind enough. This discussion leads to the second point:
    2. The unfortunate nepo debate - most of the comments are absolutely right in asking why the industry gives people like Jhanvi are given chance after chance to 'improve their acting skills' and are unforgiving of self-made outsiders at the very first mistake. At this point the audience genuinely feel that the nepo kids are forcibly shoved down on our throats movie after movie, through various means (and sorry to say Jammy, this review as well. This video screams bias to me).

    1. Slow - the movie is very slow - unlike Loop Lapeta and Ludo - I dont know how you missed that. At 45 mins I thought we’d have almost reached the end.
    2. Broken screenplay towards the latter half when Jerry has cheated with 100kg stuff - like the string of different events in that 10-15 min is very unconnected. Just to progress the movie ahead.
    3. Lack of development and exploration of few characters - how and when Timmy’s heart & mind changed suddenly? The character of the other guy to whom she’d deliver drugs TO - was umm so caricaturish and just off. Try hard attempt at humour.
Also Jhanvi feels innocent, then suddenly cunning then suddenly innocence again then total transformation to manipulation. Like how? Why? There should have been more arc to the character.
    4. Jhanvi’s broken accent and inconsistency - some places she sounds perfect and many other places not.
    5. Jhanvi’s Acting: definitely a lot better but it dint feel wholesome. Her expressions come across as similar/stiff in different scenes so unless a part really required her to depict a strong emotion, it felt very stiff. @@TriedRefusedProductions but how many chances will we give them ? Shouldnt we stop sympathising with them bcoz of the hatred they get as starkids and actually talk of the craft. This is how the Indian audience gave Katrina Kaif numerous chances even though she had no acting prowess earlier. I mean nobody even expected her to act even as how we r expecting of Janhvi.Katrina in most of her films was just aankhe sekne k liye..Thats what the general audience consensus says. Why should we let janhvi get away with such mediocre performances. All great actors like ranveer, ranbir, alia etc carved a niche for themselves right from their 1st, 2nd film etc. Jammy u yourself think all the actress who debuted in 2018-2019 did any of them gave a bang on performance yet? When i see priyanka in barfi or alia in highway i couldnt take my eyes off them. When i saw Janhvi in Gunjan or in good luck jerry..i felt actresses like radhika madaan , sanya malhotra, jennifer winget could have played those parts much more better. And this is her 4th year of being in films. Ppl are appreciating Jahnvi for choosing such kind of roles and now she is working for Nitesh Tiwari but i m sad these roles go to her bcoz of how karan johar overhypes her up everywhere. She still gets to choose from whereas outsiders with such mediocrity wouldnt. And i m not spewing hatred. Its the bitter truth facts that i am saying. Jammy cant u see despite being so mediocre how smooth is Janhvi's ride and people like mrunal thakur, radhika madaan have to literally grapple for good roles? I dont like inequal opportunitues being given to equally talented people and in this case Janhvi isnt an equal yet. The reason why ppl like Janhvi or Sara a little bit is bcoz of the "honesty" they exude during interviews. But as actors they shpuld be liked for their performances and not interviews. That itself shows they are a failure. Sara's voice has such a bad pitch and she looks like she is trying so hard when she does emotional roles...

Her couple of scenes were really good when she was interacting with the mother, but it was more of an exception rather than the rule throughout the movie. Just look at the work done by the Ludo cast. They keep you riveted to the screen! Apart from that, almost all the other cast did really well, although I felt Deepak Dobrial was wasted in this.
But the debate on here really intrigues me. Now I didn't really get into the Nepotism debate at its peak as I had my own problems to handle. And I do agree, judging by some of the comments I have seen on social media, that many people are going way overboard with this. And most of the time I do agree with Anmol, as he tries to keep it real instead of going with popular opinion.
In this case however, I have to disagree a little. Granted that Jhanvi has been trying to do character roles and maybe she might be improving (I don't really see it tbh). But the fact is, she is still getting such good roles because of her privilege. How many unknown actors would get as many opportunities as her if they failed to prove themselves in the hope that they will get there eventually? So yeah, nepotism does play a part here. If anyone really want to encourage the unity of Indian film Industry, they will not encourage remakes. I don't understand what is wrong with hindi reviewers and why they defend remake films. Yes the film may be good, but it is only because of the novelty in the original creation and the original creator must be given credit. Comparisons should happen between films, that's when we can really grow as industry. It is not feasible to remake every film to cater to each region everytime. To become a national industry we must increase the channel of communication and distribution, not producing a rotten copy and transporting them.

My question is....why they make a remake of a hit film? Why they don't choose a flop film and make hit by making something good in it? In that way, they would show their real talent and people would love to see that how the hell they make a good film from a bad film. Making a remake of a good film is easy. But making some changes in a bad film and make it a hit is something way beyond anything else!

Have we reached a point wherein we have to appreciate Janhvi or others in Bollywood for their effort when there are 100 others who are 100 times more deserving than these PPL..why should we settle for medicore PPL when in reality we can have excellent performances from PPL who can deliver in their 1st attempt itself...we keep praising these PPL saying.. they are improving, they are trying..why? Why should we do that? It's our choices..we should have the liberty to accept or reject PPL..i am for real talent..there r industry kids who are excellent like Ranbir, Alia etc..but who are not good are not good..PERIOD..rather than giving chances to mediocre industry kids, we should look for excellence (nepo or non nepo - whoever has the talent). When u have zero hopes from a product, anything average would make u stay afloat. U should have expectations from the films of a good actor and the fact that most ppl have zero expectations from Janhvi's film shows the place she earned after being for 4 yrs in the industry..and guess what she need not worry about that bcoz she so confidently says i ll learn with time, i ll win people's hearts with time etc bcoz she for a fact knows ppl like Kjo will make her stay here by giving her good scripts again and again or packaging her in a big ticket film like takht etc. Can an outsider afford to even think he still has time to win over audiences. That girl is literally getting meatiest roles, big projects with average talent and is confident that she will win over her critics with time bcoz deep down she is so secure that there will never be dearth of work for her...and circumventing her acting, craft, skills ppl are sympathising with her for the hatred she gets bcoz of nepotism. Indian audience are so extreme. Pehle hate lrenge , fir sympathy dikhayenge..kaam ki baat koi nhi krega.
