I love Bromberg, but it sounds strange to have "hustlers" rather than "hookers" in the song -- it's about logging camps and the little towns that grew up around them -- including the whorehouses. I have to give Tyson the nod for this song, much as I like David.
Actually, my dad who is a huge fan of Ian Tyson has versions of him using "hookers" and "hustlers"-he didn't know there was more than one version until a few years ago but heard a friend at a church retreat from Canada sing it with "hustlers" and then found it.
Great; David always sings songs with outstanding lyrics. More than any other artist.
nice performance of this great Ian Tyson tune.
Tyson never did it justice
Wonderful ! Always enjoy the tunes y'all put up on the TUBE .
Greatness. It's no small thing to make someone else's song your own.
RIP Ian Tyson
Great!
David absolutely needed no help with this, he was doing just fine on his own.
Nashville 20 May!
' Slippery city shoes ' is a slippery lyric .
