Hey 3 years later have you tried making a lithium battery pack? I have a 1990 White's Spectrum with a dead battery pack. I have rebuilt this pack once with new nicads but its time for another build. Thinking lithium ion.
I was just thinking about doing another video on this. I no longer use my battery case. I purchased a 4 C cell battery holder. SDTC Tech C Cell battery holder on Amazon. $8.50 for a two pack. You do have to trim the seams on the side down, but once you do that, it slides right in place. I used aluminum squares cut from a pop can to attach to the wires. The aluminum squares connected just right to the prongs inside the battery compartment where the battery normally makes contact. Hope this helps.
Hey did you try this with AA batteries I believe it would work with the new batteries I'm going to try it just make sure there's 1.5 and not 1.2 volts batteries
No. I stuck with the C battery since that was the size that came out of the original box. So long as the volts add it will work for you. I need to do another video. I no longer use this box. Amazon has a four cell battery holder already wired up in the correct order. Just needs a small plastic tab cut off of it and it will slide right inside the metal detector. It's also dirt cheap.
@@mathewdavis-adventuresandd6643 do you maybe have a link to that battery holder? My local archaeologist just gifted me a whites eagle spectrum and it lacks the original box
@@weserberglandsondler1871 I don't, but you can go to Amazon and type SDTC Tech 2-pack 4x C cell battery holder. Those are the one's I bought. Only a slight modification will be required, metal tabs to make contact and trim off a small plastic piece.
El costo fue casi nulo. Solo pilas C. Tengo una mejor idea. Por ocho dólares puedes comprar dos soportes para pilas en Amazon. El soporte de la batería encajará en el detector de metales. Tendrás que recortarlo un poco.
I had fresh hot batteries and they will always be over 1.5 volts, yes 1.5 x 4 is 6, but anyone that has played with a multimeter and batteries discovers very quickly that a hot battery will show more volts that what the battery list. With four fresh batteries the meter read 6.39 volts. It's just the way it is.
No sir i would never pay $800 for meatel detactor now a gold detector i payed 1700 mine does both you will find something right at ground level surface and a few inches under ground if your lucky im not knocking you or the detector if im gonna hunt i want one that goes 8- 10 -12 inches mine lab equinox to i can take the whole unit completely under water 200 feet down it will go i wanted a amphibious land and buy the ocean / beaches
This is a 1980s model that was one of the best metal detectors out there at that time. Some considered it ahead of it's time. Of course you wouldn't pay 800 dollars today for one considering the technology that has advanced in this field. Not sure where you think it will only detect surface and a few inches. I have videos showing me pulling up targets easily 8 or 9 inches down. I also have a tiger shark that is rated for 200 feet which you can also see in several of my videos, last I checked the Equinox line is only waterproof to ten foot, so you might be careful when dawning that scuba gear. Technology changes and so does the price. You can't judge a nearly 40 year old detector with todays top detectors. That's just silly. Something else that is silly, is writing a paragraph without punctuation. Just saying.

4:45 "cereal configuration"? Nope. Series not serial.
Glad you are watching the video closely. Thanks
Hey Matt thanks for the video but what if you don't have a battery box I got the 6, 000di appreciate if you can answer my

I soldered copper wire to make one lol, worked perfect 1st time lol
Awesome. I hated those box batteries and it was all a scam anyways since its regular batteries inside the sealed box.
What size battery does that metal detector take because I don't have a battery in it it's supposed to be one big one that goes inside of it
Seriously? I take it you didn't watch the video.

Now see you are only running 6 volts 1.5 × 4 batteries is 6 total volts
