Thanks for the detailed response. Mine are much shorter, but I think I’ll leave them as they are. I like the way they look. To me, that’s one of the best things about droid building. No two are alike and pretty much anything goes.

Nice work, all I did was use plastic tubing and gold sleeves over the top for my battery boxes. I think you can get the gold sleeves of Amazon still.

Sweet! Getting these shipped to Oz would be prohibitively expensive to be sure, but sounds like you came up with a great alternative. Cheers, mate!

Flexibility is key, but I'll bet the metallic paint looks great over the black nylon. That's a great option, too!

Love the upgrade. Would like to see a side look at the hoses. I don’t think mine are 12”. Is that screen “accurate”?

The 12" reference comes from the CS:L blueprints that are available over on Astromech.net. AFAIK, there were no changes specified for the hoses in the CS:R standard, so this remains the only documented spec (If you're unfamiliar with CS:L and CS:R, this page offers some insight: astromech.net/droidwiki/CSR_Overview_and_Files ).
CS:L was the first attempt at coming up with standards for droid building, and it later evolved into the CS:R standard once more screen used droids were available to compare against/measure. The fact that there was no CS:R update for hose length doesn't suggest that CS:L "got it right", it just means that no one has declared anything better to go with, that's all.
As for the side view, here's a pic I posted to my public album: photos.app.goo.gl/UgHFQsJJDScBBWjr5 It extends about 4" in front of the foot shell.
