I honestly do not buy this champions league and other european competitions considered "lesser" is a viable argument, I really don't. You have to agree to travel is randomly the same based on who you may get from the continent. Lets agree the average travel distance is the same. EVERYONE takes their first 11 if fully fit. Maybe you can bench one or two maybe, but generally i see the same first 11 for arsenal as I do league games with 1 or 2 changes, that is exactly what villa did last year with maybe 1 or 2 more changes. As you said we sold 2 and brought in 6. Teams breaking into the champions league have that extra cash to bring in a few more players to cover it. People imo are hung up on newcatsle last season having a bad year, yet in the same breath say how they may do better because they had injuries. What they do not mention is things like it was eddie howes first ever season in europe where as emery is in his 15th consecutive season in europe (how he got there when he took over from gerrard I do not know but he did) but he is a grand master in europe with 4 major trophies and 2 champions league semi finals. All that said I do think villa will finish fifth. I just hate this champions league argument so much. Liverpool city and arsenal are also in the champions league I would argue villa have a stronger squad than 2 of those teams, tho not a better first 11 of any of them, but the drop off for us swapping out 5 players is coverable, where as they lose 5 players they hurt more is what I mean. We are not a star player team, we are much of a muchness and its coaching that gets us results. Except watkins if he gets injured are we are fucked. Still a great insightful video, I totally agree with except the champions league thing, lets face it emery is better than slot, arteta, meresca, ETH, ange and maybe even Guardiola when it comes to europe. He has certainly won more. I have noticed this has turned into a rant. I am sorry, UTV!
