    I just love, love, love old films like "The Good Housewife In Her Kitchen," Tessie! I'm going to have so much fun watching that tonight. Thank you for putting the link up there. Sometimes I think I was born way too late. I would have fit in much better back when that film was made! 😀
    I've never had homemade cranberry juice, but it looks delicious! And beautiful! Those cranberries look like rubies. So pretty.
    We can just imagine a meal that includes the goodies you made. Maybe a homemade meatloaf, homemade onion rolls and cranberry juice...? What a great combination of chemical-free natural flavors, packed with vitamins and protein and other good nutrition. All because a "Good Housewife" was happy to be "In her Kitchen!"
    I would say: "Trolls-B-Gone!! You will never be able to have a happy, relaxing and productive day like this! (Until you find the source of true joy, that is.) Wishing Tessie, her family and everyone else a blessed evening. 🙂

      Emotional lately. Thinking about jars. The grandma jar of over eighty years. Very cool !!! Thinking about my grandmother. both my grandmothers and my mom. Them canning. Certain jars that were older, colored, or favorites. Didn't even leave my mom's house or my grandma's house. I absolutely love jars. If I had a second back with each of my grandmother's and my mom. For every time they said, ' jar,' I'd be a really really rich person with time with them all right now. I was blessed to have them. Both my grandma's, my mom and the jars :-) I was blessed to have all of them. Don't forget to get my jars back. Don't break my jar. How many jars do I have on cellar shelves ? So on and so forth. I just love anytime Tessie cans. And says, 'JARS ' :-) it's soul warming for me to hear. I love old canning jars and the memories :-) they bring me. Great video.

    Cranberries, the number one solution when it comes to bladder infections. So it is always good to have something like that at home. I wonder if there is some information in something related with 'The good housewife in her Kitchen' were they speak about a haybox. In older Dutch material they speak about it. During the depression days, the war and a few years after that, they used a haybox to save some energy. I don't know if it was a European thing or did they use it in the USA as well.

      What did they do with the hay box to save energy??

    • @xXTheoLinuxXx
      @xXTheoLinuxXx Рік тому +5

      @@pellis6928 some things were getting done if you put them in a hay box. For example potatos. They had only had to bring them to boil and put them in the hay box. after 20 or 25 minutes they were done. So it saved them 15 till 20 minutes of energy. You could do the same thing (but different times) with rice or soup. It stayed warm and don't cool off and saves you quit some propane, gas or electricity.

But if you have something like that, you don't have to buy something. I was wondering if they did it in the USA as well during the depression days, it was a money saver then.. and I guess now. In old dutch cookbooks they were using them, and I have some information about times etc...

      I made a mistake and the oxygen absorbers I bought are in a pack of 144! This means I must use them all at the same time upon opening. Oops. 🤦‍♀️

    So the cranberries were to strain the berries and drink the juice when you open it? Or do you blend the berries into the juice and drink it? Was it pressure cooked or water bath canned? How long? Thanks for sharing. I am going to look up more of your bread machine mixes to make.

    I worry about flour going rancid. I don't use a lot of it...but I have had flour stored away for a year that I brought out and it had an awful taste. I stored it as directed and it still had a funky taste and smell. Any suggestions. Storing directions were....freeze in freezer for 3 days...bring back to room temperature (2) days...put in canning jars and dry can with vac seal.. ??
