  • I couldn't resist buying this stove on Ebay. In this video I try it out by cooking some burgers. Price was £19.57 not £14 as I said in video.

I figured out simple solution for handle and door. somewhat. Handle is easy, squeeze in to take off, then bend by hand or with pliers both ends outwards, put back in, creates so much friction that handles will stay where you place them, makes it easy to keep out of the way, and also easier to pack. But more importantly, easier to keep higher then the door so that you can open door when you want.
Looseness of the door can also be fixed by wrapping snare wire or other bendable wire around outside of bolt coming off the ring, creates friction and tightness, just don't wrap too much or ring will not go down.

They should have kept handles out of the way of door. Do what everyone else does expecially if it is hot. Use a stick to put through ring, possibly long enough so one end can sit on ground, , the other options, pliers, leather gloves, or mits. Could also attach a hook wrapped around wire to make a handle off the ring like.

Great vid! They are now >£25.00 depending on where you buy them. It's a nice bit of kit, but the price is climbing along with its popularity. One suggestion though, wait for the flames to die down before cooking your burgers. This will reduce the flare-ups as they cook.

Right I've just received mine and because of the steel grate at the bottom has too many holes it burns to fast and can't keep hot coals.
So I've cut a piece of stainless sheet and drilled a few holes in it...
    Result
    longer burn time.
    Can burn wood pellets.
    Keeps the hot coals.
    Longer grilling time..
I suppose you can use any bit of metal plate but stainless will last longer..
    Now it's a decent stove 👍🏼

It would be ok for a short term fire to keep warm but you need it to be burning with a lot of flame which burns wood much quicker than an on ground fire and doesn't really build up good hot coals like you would get if you were burning thicker logs. I'd say if you want a fire for abouy an hour then its ok but for anything more than that it wouldn't be great. Atb Dave

I half expected it to bend and buckle after the first lighting but honestly I've been impressed by it. Aside from the issue with the handle fouling the door, which looks to have been rectified on the latest models, I found this to be a very capable stove and good value for money.

Way too much fire for those burgers

Even if this is $20, the real Firebox Stove is worth $50. First, the quality is excellent and tops compared to this (I can tell from the sound). Produced in the USA. Second, it is highly tested and developed by the owner. So why support the Chinese stealing? Some times it's worth knowing that you're not supporting the types of working conditions that many people are subjected to over there.
Stove seemed to work fine (which isn't a surprise, a large coffee can with some holes makes a good stove) but I would question the durability of this.
