So if they let people on their beach then the people who are not paid guests could get food and drinks for free.

Miss Trudy Doctor's Cave beach is my favourite in Montego Bay. The beach is very clean, the water is blue and very beautiful - wow! You can find free beaches in Jamaica. In Barbados, A CARICOM country like Jamaica, the government pays the lifeguards and people who clean the bathrooms and changing rooms. All beaches in Barbados are public and free. Stop making excuses for the inexcusable.

The dead end beach was bigger than that and the big guys owning the hotel corner off a section of the beach and public have less free beach. But along that stretch is the tourist resort. There is always a vibes. The beach is nice at nights.
All parishes have public beaches, which are not privately owned. Some public beach collects small fees to facilitate restrooms, sanitation, shower facilities
Most beaches don't charge to go in, because not all the beaches are private, but if you go to a beach that has a privet hotel in a tourist area, most likely you will have to pay. There are alot of non private beaches in Jamaica, but in tourist areas there are mostly private beaches. Places like Portland, St Elizabeth, St Thomas etc.. has alot of non private beaches.

I used to go to Doctor's Cave beach each Saturday when I was growing up and attending school in Mobay, it was a privately owned beach back then. In those days there was another beach adjacent to Doctor's Cave called Cornwall Beach which was free. Nowadays many beaches take a fee to use their facilities, the same in Ocho Ríos and the beaches are kept clean and it closes at 6pm when it starts to get dark. There are also many free beaches so it's not entirely private, but I can understand the frustration of many Jamaicans when many hotels are permitted to fence off parts of the beach for their guests thus creating a irritating situation for the locals . Sadly the Govt has not been able to stop the trend thus more and more " free beaches" become private ones, a worrying situation for Jamaica's future.😢🇯🇲

The reality is who controls access to the beach front controls access to the beach and in your particular case that area of the beach is fronted by private hotels and guest house so they may not want people walking through. You can go in the ocean and swim pass and they wont bother you but once you walk on the shore the security guards may indicate that its private property. Again the sea is public but the property or easement to the ocean may be private.
True sister, they should invest in a Large sign and also mention it in the enterin sign. Still it's a beautiful beach. If they want tourists, they have to make it tourist friendly, not confusing,and definitely not threatening.
The official name for the place you visited in Trelawny is Luminous Lagoon. People who do boat rides from that area have different brand names for their place. You could have also done the tour from fisherman's Inn or glistening Waters.
Not all beaches are privately owned but there is a small fee for some beaches to contribute to cleaning rubbish on the beach, changing facilities etc. Beaches need constant maintenance so some beaches might charge $100 JM dollars to Jamaicans and visitors $250 JM dollars for example.
No one owns beaches in Jamaica, only the land. Once you are in the water however you get in it, they can't stop you from being in the water or charge you
Omg doctor's cave hotel is one of my favorite places to stay in Jamaica and the beaches are private because the hotels don't want non guests to enter unless you are a guest of their guests whether local or from abroad the concierge have info on permission tags etc. I hate to pay to go to the beach, and there's a free one across from sandals, it's the one he calls the dead end, just means at the end of the street, Just ask and one beyond Margaretaville. If you all have time then you should visit the parish of Portland - it’s the most underrated parish on the island. Like the rest of Jamaica it often gets overlooked by Ocho Rios, Negril and Montego Bay, but it shouldn’t. There are so many amazing attractions in Portland like Reach Falls, Winnifred Beach, Rafting down the Rio Grande, Blue Hole. Portland is two and a half hours from Kingston and worth a visit 😊👍🏾

We had to pay for the beach in Ocho Rious in Jamaica, but there were people sweeping up the leaves from the trees, and we were able to shower fo free before we left.I don't think its right that people pay but have to leave the beach by 5 o'clock
I was born in Montego Bay . From I was a child you have to pay to go to Doctor's Cave beach. They also have the hotel. That beach is one of the best in the world.
The private commercial tourist beaches have little to offer except sun bathing. But the local beaches like Hellshire are full of fun activities and life and music. Even public waterfalls and places are better. Imagine Jamaicans have very little access to beaches

We absolutely love the luminous water. Back in the day price was so low and we had dinner after boat ride. One of a kind experience.

The official name for the place you visited in Trelawny is Luminous Lagoon. People who do boat rides from that area have different brand names for their place. You could have also done the tour from fisherman's Inn or glistening Waters.

Not all beaches are privately owned but there is a small fee for some beaches to contribute to cleaning rubbish on the beach, changing facilities etc. Beaches need constant maintenance so some beaches might charge $100 JM dollars to Jamaicans and visitors $250 JM dollars for example.

No one owns beaches in Jamaica, only the land. Once you are in the water however you get in it, they can't stop you from being in the water or charge you
Omg doctor's cave hotel is one of my favorite places to stay in Jamaica and the beaches are private because the hotels don't want non guests to enter unless you are a guest of their guests whether local or from abroad the concierge have info on permission tags etc. I hate to pay to go to the beach, and there's a free one across from sandals, it's the one he calls the dead end, just means at the end of the street, Just ask and one beyond Margaretaville. Try the chocolate martinis!❤🎉😊 enjoy🎉 Africa must unite 🎶
If you all have time then you should visit the parish of Portland - it’s the most underrated parish on the island. Like the rest of Jamaica it often gets overlooked by Ocho Rios, Negril and Montego Bay, but it shouldn’t. There are so many amazing attractions in Portland like Reach Falls, Winnifred Beach, Rafting down the Rio Grande, Blue Hole. Portland is two and a half hours from Kingston and worth a visit 😊👍🏾

My Sister Ms Trudy, i love the way U say "Yatches" 😊 In English the type of boats called "YACHT" is PRONOUNCED YAT (the CH letters are silent in this word. Many words in English have silent letters of both Consonants & Vowels. If it's not your 1st language then ofcourse you wouldnt know) for singular and YATS for plural/more than one. We had to pay for the beach in Ocho Rious in Jamaica, but there were people sweeping up the leaves from the trees, and we were able to shower fo free before we left.I don't think its right that people pay but have to leave the beach by 5 o'clock
At least they are clean and well kept
The people you see cleaning the beaches, the lifeguard, the First Aid Attendant that are their to serve you have a home to go to, it's only fair.
I was born in Montego Bay . From I was a child you have to pay to go to Doctor's Cave beach. They also have the hotel. That beach is one of the best in the world.

The private commercial tourist beaches have little to offer except sun bathing. But the local beaches like Hellshire are full of fun activities and life and music. Even public waterfalls and places are better. Imagine Jamaicans have very little access to beaches

Obviously the privately owned beaches will be well manned and protected and it’s only a small fee anyway…
