This! We make almost$ 20,000 more a year now than we did 10 years ago but we still keep expenses same & are just as frugal. No leather seats or loaded vehicles even if technically we can afford it.
My washer was jumping during the spin cycle a few months ago and I got a quote for $250. I said no and went to UA-cam. Thirty minutes of labor and $37 for the parts saved my life.
I did a pickup order at my Kroger today. I saved $50 because I had 2 digital coupons worth $25 specifically for pickup orders and digital coupons for various items and sales for another $25. My $94 order cost me $44 just because I did a pickup order! What an awesome score!
As a single mother of 4 back in 1980's with a deadbeat ex that wouldn't pay child support, I went to work driving truck, heavy equipment and construction. I'm sooooo glad I did! This has saved me a small fortune over the years!! Every little bit helps! Thanks for the tips.
Understand that , I always wanted to get my CDLs after school..Didnt, but later I did after 2 children, same boat as you..loved it..Had 2 more lol ones as a Driver..Now retired...
I'm in this boat now, last check bounced (last month) and that one was 3 checks late. How would I do something like you did? I don't know how to get started.
@@MispelledOnPurpose I 1st went to work Day Labor as construction clean-up to get caught up on bills, saved for a LONG time to get my CDL class B so I could drive concrete mixers, flat beds, box trucks. So I could drive truck delivery truck for a Lumber yard and delivering concrete. I still worked day labor weekends and started learning more about the construction trades. My Uncle was a contractor and my step dad worked various construction fields so I had already learned the very basics growing up. I was in the Army and learned basic principles of AC/DC currents and basic electrical skills so I also got part time work as an electrician and plumbers assistants when I wasn't driving truck. I literally worked 7 days a week for over 5 years before an injury afforded me about 3 weeks off. Then I was back at it again. As I have aged I can't work those kinds of hours construction. But I still held down a regular full time job as a machine operator III, drove delivery for Uber Eats, as well as worked in pizza parlor doing EVERY job + delivery. At 59 I still work 50 - 60 hours a week until I had both completely replaced knees 5 weeks ago. It's definitely been hard, grueling, and my kids hate me for always being gone, and absolutely adore their deadbeat dad; but I've had to do what was necessary to get by with 4 kids.
My mom used to save Christmas cards we got in the mail, cut off the portion that had writing on it and use the front with the pretty pictures to put on presents instead of buying labels.
We make yogurt in the instant pot. It’s around $5 for gallon of whole milk, $2 for table cream, occasionally $2.99 for a plain yogurt to reset the starter. It makes 2X what we used to get for 11.99 and go through weekly for smoothies, breakfast, sauces, etc. delicious!
I started working at a grocery store and found out that the store marks down meat 1 day before sell by date so now I will check meat case for items that are marked down. This helps for the carnivores I live with that need meat at every meal Also its very common for last weeks ad sale items to be marked down following week because store gets too much and has to move inventory. Example if ground beef is on sale this week I'll check next week and most likely there will be a mark down item. grab these deals and freeze it or cook as soon as I get home. I write date of purchase with a sharpie on package so I rotate items so nothing gets freezer burned and wasted. In the 9 months I have been working I have saved hundreds of dollars on meat and have a fully stocked freezer. Ask the butcher how your store does it. I also bought a cheap dry erase board at dollar tree that I put on outside of freezer to track what I have. when I'm meal planning for the week I don't have to open freezer to rummage through I just look at board and know exactly what I have inside. Also reminds me of those items that are buried that I might forget about.
You don't even need a dry erease board. Use a dry erease marker and weie on top of freezer. Wipe it off as you uze something. If it doesn't comw off easislywipe with a towel with rubbing alcohol.
I am occasionally able to by steaks for the price of hamburger when I buy it when it's discounted. I buy a package of 6 or 8 steaks and immediately devide it and freeze it. To keep it from getting fteezer burn, I wrap in plastic wrap, then aluminium and finally put it in a freezer bag. No freezer burn so far.
We just bought about 7 acres if land and are going to build a house, but also plant a bunch of fruit trees and produce. I truly I can't wait to share with friends, family, or really anyone. I've been blessed by so many other gardeners' produce, I really look forward to sharing.
This was a phenomenal video! I shared it with both of my daughters (19 and 21). The distilled wisdom here could easily be put into a frugal living book, Christine! Hint, hint, nudge, nudge. I would buy one for every family member!
I wish y🎉ou had a discount for seniors. We struggle to pay for groceries. Please consider this for us. And let us know when you decide this. I watch you almost every day. Even old videos. Thankx for all the videos you do
THANK YOU FOR SHOUTING OUT INTERLIBRARY LOANS!!!! i work in a library and you can get literally anything through ILL. you could cancel all streaming services and just watch your favorite shows for free through the library! it’s amazing! and our library even has apps where you can download shows and movies straight to a phone or smart tv if you can’t play dvds. also, check the library for fun and free events. our library has a schedule of events going two months out and there’s something free going on almost every single day, you don’t even have to have a card to participate. seriously, especially in the summer we have so much stuff going on, movies, crafts, games, the list is truly endless. love your local library!!!
truly, if theres a tip here that will change your life it’s the library. i definitely have a bias but come on, it’s 100% free and it is so useful, especially for students and kids. our check out receipts will tell you how much money you’ve saved by using the library instead of purchasing the items and some of our customers have saved tens of thousands of dollars just by renting our materials instead of buying!!
This is such a smart list. Cutting down on the amount of gifts you buy does make a huge difference. Spending time together is much better than just giving toys! 💌
Exactly. If folks could stop the consumerism mentality during the Holidays, they could save so much money. As a family, we agreed to just stop buying extended family gifts. We now just exchange baked goodies, homemade pickles, etc.
I am part of a MLM because I regularly use essential oils. Because I am a part of the program I earn free points and I am able to use them on gifts and soap, laundry soap, supplements etc. I know some don’t like MLM’s because they say the business side of them is too difficult to achieve but I simply just use the product and have found benefits for that reason.
Amen, just watched a TED talk that stated most of the gifts, you get you don't like or want. When you receive a gift your only obligation to that is to say Thank You.
I'm a 72 year old in UK,and I just love your videos !! You are me as I was bringing up my boys after I lost my husbannd in my early thirties. You have to have a thick skin at times !! Thank you x
WOW, now these are some great money saving tips! I do my own pedicures and instead of spending tons of money at a salon I reached a point in my life where I decided I am good with letting myself go gray. It's actually turning into a mix of gray and silver.. and I'm happy with me! I thrift clothes shop, yard sales, and cook a lot at home. Love your tips Christine!💖
Please consider doing a video on how to churn credit cards and how to travel frugally! We don't buy Christmas gifts anymore for our kids. We don't want stuff we want to create memories. Would love to use your tips to save when doing this!
Hubby and I cut our own hair, order water if we go out, most of the stuff we get is 50 to 75% off... Love your videos and this was helpful in that "Yep we are doing that too".. Thank you, your such an inspiration, don't you cha know.
This was amazingly done! When I was a stay-at-home mom, I did most of these things. Now they are everyday habits. I used to share one or two ideas with friends here and there, but I love how you were able to put so many together in this video! Now, because we saved so much money over the years, we will be able to retire this summer. We still live frugally but without kids to raise, we get to splurge more often. Blessings to you!
I'm proud to say that I already do so many of these things. My kids and I really struggled after my divorce and I still come from that place of lack. A few of my hacks: #1: Make sloppy joes. Buy buns from the day-old bakery rack, and ground meat (I like bison) on it's last sell-by date. Leftover sloppy joe can be made into spaghetti sauce, chili, etc. #2: Save your laundry water in the utility tub to reuse. I sync hot, bleachy wash with days I mop my kitchen and bathroom floors. #3: buy extension cords after Christmas at 50% off.
I started DIYing my clothes a few years back. Just small things at first, like decorating an old sweater or crocheting a cute hat. I have since learned to make my patterns and have made even winter coats. Most of the time, it takes less time than driving to the mall and walking through all the stores trying to find something that fits as well as looks good. I choose good quality fabric, all natural fibers so it's comfortable to wear; lasts longer. For example, a 100% silk dress only costs me about $16. My kids take care of the things I make for them. My son used to lose 2-3 hats a month during colder seasons. I knitted a hat for him that he's been wearing for two years now :) so it has saved me tons of money.
whenever i recieve a mylar balloon for any occasion -i take it apart at the seam and save both pieces.when i have a unique shaped gift to wrap,i just take a piece that matches that holiday (valentine balloon, graduation, etc) and wrap the gift in it-free wrapping paper and very shiny and festive!
Regarding the library tip and birthday party tip... Our local library provides free rooms for rent with reservation! We have used them for baby showers and birthday parties.
As a prolific reader, the library saves me TONNES of money! I also utilise their app to download audiobooks/ebooks/magazines. I save at least £50 a month (between Audible/Kindle Unlimited/buying physical books).
I would consider my self fairly frugal and I do A LOT of these things, but I have such a hard time cutting back at Christmas. My kids literally get nothing as far as new toys except for Christmas and their birthday so I love to spoil them a bit on those 2 holidays. But I SAVE to make it happen!!
You are awesome! I see so many UA-cam videos on money saving tips that are actually more expensive than what I am already doing. 🤦🏻♀️ You’re videos have changed the way I grocery shop and improved my grocery budget immensely. As a stay at home Mamma, I consider economizing to be one of my “jobs” and you have helped me find new way to do just that. Thank you. ❤️
Stocked gift closet, love it. Never thought to do a whole closet, definitely would be better than my 2-4 totes, especially since now I have 5 kids instead of the 3 I actually raised (gained currently a 26 yr old and a 12 yr old through marriage almost 5 yrs ago) plus 4 daughter/son n laws and 5 grand babies with a 6th being worked on! I took to shopping clearance/back to school/after holiday sales when my kids was real young, doing so took the stress of gift giving and most of all Christmas shopping out if the equation cause I always was fully sticked on gifts for my kids, parents, sibblings and their families too and all at dirt cheap prices!!! Couple of yrs I was even able to fully provide Christmas for my little sisters 3 girls while she was going through some very hard times. Due to the grabbing items at lowest prices and throwing into my bins that I kept locks on I was able to do these things and they never put a stress on me to do so, as I too was a single mother of 3.
@@PJwithheart I didn't know what it was either so I googled it. Basically it's opening new credit cards to get their opening bonuses and then closing them at the end of their bargains. Could really hurt your credit.
Good ideas. I used the library when my children were young. From toddler story time to using the encyclopedia back in the day, Every little thing helps.
Cleaning products I keep a degreaser, disinfectant, and bathroom cleaner. I’ve been subbed for about a year and I just want to thank you for all of your helpful advice. You’ve saved me a bunch.
If you are not in the financial market space right now, you are making a huge mistake. I understand that it could be due to ignorance, but if you want to make your money work for you, prevent inflation from eroding your savings, build generational wealth, and cultivate good habits and financial knowledge, you must be in the market.
@@fridanordin9710 Yes. You're right it's not watching all videos and wasting time on strategies, I was ignorant doing so till I Met expert Mrs. Bruce Christelle sometime early last year at a startup funding event in New York City. She had some interesting things to say about the state of algorithmic trading today, very obviously I'm seeing the results, and my trading is going smoothly.
NOBODY BECOMES A MILLIONAIRE OR BILLIONAIRE BY WORKING FOR OTHERS AND DEPENDING ON THEM, GOOD INVESTMENT BRINGS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND CONSISTENCY BRINGS BILLIONS. THE MARKET IS ALL ABOUT CRYPTO NOW YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO IT
Investing in Stocks and Forex is the wisest, it's a place where millionaires and future billionaires come to get inspired. If you've not been involved in any you're missing out. Most importantly If you know how to trade you can make a ton of money no matter where you find yourself
As a beginner who don't understand how Bitcoin trade/forex trading really works and you really want to make profit from it. I will advise you to first start working with a professional broker
Jiminy Cricket!!!🤣🤣🤣 I love this video. We recently assessed our insurances and made changes that were needed since we have not done that in 10 years. We are now doing about 40 of the things you talked about. Can't wait to implement some more money saving ideas you mentioned. My Husband and I are debt free but still have to be frugal due to inflation and being self employed. Thank you so much for all the ideas.
Think pre-1960 lifestyle: Use cleaning rags rather than paper towels. I use about 1 roll per year - it's only used to drain bacon (1 sheet is cut into 1/8s, or to clean up cat's upset stomach. Recycle soap: soap slivers are grated into a square plastic bowl. Stir in 1 tbsp vegetable oil. Just cover it with boiling water (if you get too much, that's ok will just take longer to dry). When set, cut into rectangles, turn onto 1 end (it drys faster) and let cure. The use of the oil eliminates the use and cost of body lotion. Dilute soap shavings to make shampoo: 1 Tbsp soap shavings to an empty shampoo bottle of water works great. Heat the water before filling the bottle helps dissolve the shavings. The soap will continue to absorb moisture so you may have to add water occassionally to keep the mixture from thickening. Buy a tube of shoe goop. Inexpensive shoes will have soles that will come off. Shoe goop can be used to glue soles back for another year. Eat out 1 night per week, and only 2 days for lunch due to scheduling. Cleaning products are limited to baking soda & vinegar, or bleach water. A spray bottle of water + 1/8 C bleach is fractions of pennies compared to purchased shower and toilet bowl cleaners and works just as well. Just make sure to label the bottle. Window cleaner is water, vinegar and dish soap. Oven cleaner is baking soda sprinkled over the stain, then sprayed with vinegar. Let set a couple of hours, then scrub. It make take more than 1 application. Wash and wax your car at home. And the list continues.
My suggestion is learn to do yourself anything your paying someone else to do!! As a single mom i learned to do car oil changes, repair the washer and dryer myself, and make things you use!
Good tips! My favourite, that you didn't mention is not having a car. This might be impossible if you don't live in or near a city, but look into it. It saves scary amount of money!
Hello, Christine! Just wanted to say I went to my auto and home insurance company on Monday and changed companies- saving $1100 a year!!!!! So exciting!! Thanks for all the great tips as usual. Love your channel!
Yep on UA-cam for repair videos! My husband is super handy but was having a hard time repairing our carpet cleaner and UA-cam showed him what he was missing. I was really to just buy a new carpet cleaner! 💪💪
Great tips! I live by quite a few of them already but my most recent ones that iv started to live by now that I have a 2 week old son is to accept hand me down clothing from friends and family, we've split everything into size groups and put it into storage containers so that when he grows to that size we're ready to pull it out and I think at this rate his clothing for the 1st 12-18 months of his life are sorted! Also expressing for my sons feeds as he doesn't latch is saving alot of money as I don't need to purchase formula and it means I can still give him all the nutrients from my BM
My son and I shop at dollar tree and travel on foot to get to and from. We also shop at the commissary where we save by already paying less for items and no added tax on anything and we travel by city transit bus to and from. I pay half fare because of my age. :). When we get together in the kitchen, we cook enough to last us for a couple extra days for lunches and dinners for both of us. I very seldom find anything that is readymade plant based, so I make a lot of my own foods, including my own "ground meat". He still has his meals where he eats his meat and cheese. We are currently saving up to make a move from Virginia to Oklahoma. We are also looking for a moving company to help us get there because neither of us drives. We do have family in Oklahoma helping us find a place that is within our means. Thank you for all your ideas that are really helpful.
The grocery stores in my area are on to the "shop the perimeter" idea. In the one nearest me, the perimeters are deli, made in-store grab & go foods (rotisserie chicken, packaged Puerto Rican rice, etc.), the meat/fish dept., dairy, soda & snack foods, cold beer. The local organic/natural foods store has baked goods (including gluten free cookies) in the perimeter areas.
I would add regular car maintenance, fill the tank at 1/2 most of the time to prevent issues with the fuel pump, regular oil changes, etc. Avoids some huge expenses. Do the oil changes yourself, etc.
Our refrigerator started spewing ice out the ice maker and would not stop! Lol My husband fixed it but it did take a few tries. The first couple of cheap fixes weren't the issue. We even called a repair man to get a diagnostic. After that we bought the correct part and it's fixed. Yes, it took a couple of tries but it was still only about $180 total. Tons cheaper than buying a new fridge.
Great hints! Do not waste money on souvenirs on vacation. Bring rainy day activities so you will not be tempted by the shops. Get souvenirs at yard sales then when you get tired of sell them at your yard sale. Make your own on a rainy day. Visit local libraries. They often have free programs of local interest. Visit the visitors center. There are often free or cheap events. Souvenirs are just expensive accumulation. Take pictures of memories. If you must buy something buy a local food product. Every time you use it, it will remind you of your vacation.
If you don’t have haircutting skills make friends with someone who does and trade skills ( maybe not a professional-it’s their livelihood and may not appreciate it-some may not care but some might) I have 2 girlfriends who are VERY talented with home haircuts and for one I offer to cook a big nice dinner and clean her kitchen and the other I offer babysitting! It’s worked very nicely over the years!!
Limiting Christmas gifts for my kids was really hard for me. I grew up with a small toy store under the tree every year. I was raised basically as an only child. My only sibling is 15 years older than I am. I don’t remember a lot when he was still at home. When was expecting baby #3, I realized that buying that many gifts for 3 kids would be ridiculous. We would be over run with toys & it would be too much $. Then I heard a TV personality say. “I only get my kids 3 Christmas gifts each. It was good enough for Jesus & it’s His birthday.” I thought these people could afford to buy anything they wanted. That took off the mental pressure I had put on myself. I really looked back at my childhood Christmases. I do remember the tons of bright shiny gifts under the tree, but very few actual gifts. Gifts are not what I remember most. I remember the get togethers. I remember the adults playing games with me. Christmas morning was when my mother’s family celebrated. We would trek to my aunts house. It was all the way across street & over one house. Lol Then my grand mother, my cousins & their children would arrive. I remember the celebrations with good friends, even ones when I was the only child. Those are the things I still love to focus on now. Now I have 2 grandchildren. The 3 gift rule doesn’t apply. I buy whatever I want. We will have to wait & see if 3 grandchildren is the magic number that makes me limit their gifts. (Doubtful)
Getting lots of gifts is only easy when they’re c cheaper items. When the kids are still into play dough and coloring books. And I agree with you, as they get older it gets harder and you have to scale back.
My friend's used to send me the funniest Christmas cards! I always would put them up on the walls as decor...really lifts the spirits! Since most people do not send cards much anymore, I also keep the prettier cards and plaster the door with them year after year. It reminds me of friends and family that I may be far from (in time as well as space! ♥️) and gives me a warm holiday feeling!
Saved a ton of money by repairing thing around the house myself. By using youtube I've learnt how to patch holes in drywall, best way to fill holes in baseboards and repaint. I even replaced window and patio door screens myself. Proud moments for sure!
I have a clothesline, it cost maybe $30 to build over 10 years ago (wooden posts, concreted in ground) I'm in KY so from April to october its warm enough here to dry clothes outside, so I don't use my dryer unless its just a rare occasion where it rains for days at a time, but my electric bill is probably $20-30 cheaper in the summer
@@deboranndeborann933 my dad talks about frozen diapers on the line in winter in north Texas. I’m currently in west Texas and I have made several mad dashes for clothes on the line before the sand storm hits. Those haboobs are wild!
Thats all well and good if you dont have serious allergies like I do. I combat cost of running washer and dryer by leaving them unplugged till I use them (phatom power saver) AND only doing laundry after 7pm weeknights when usage rates are less.
I have a few tips for you. 1.I joined my local Buy Nothing group a couple years ago. I have received so many free “gifts” and been able to unload things I didn’t need or want. 2.To save gas on a trip to the library, I visit Little Free Libraries. There are lots that are much closer than the library, and no due dates. I can often combine a trip to pick up a gift through Buy Nothing with a visit to a Little Free Library. 3.We have Pay Back coupon books in our area, which are sold as school fundraisers every year. For a $20 investment I save $30 at one of my favorite grocery stores, as well as other stores and restaurants and more. Sometimes I can swap coupons I won’t use for the ones I want. Win-win! 🧡
This is excellent! And I love the rapid-fire delivery. Sharing this with my best friend, whose financial situation recently changed and saving money is a bigger priority.
Buying all the winter stuff in summer when it's marked down and the summer stuff when winter is coming is the best trick ever when u need clothes and good clothes at that!
Great ideas! I've done alot of these and they really help! I like shopping consignment stores for sure, especially for clothes. Everything is so expensive and it helps to save as much as you can. Thanks for this great video!!
I told my family not to give me anything for Christmas. I'm not buying any gift this year. I have always been complimented by the gifts I give because they are thoughtful and practical but I don't want to do it this year. Not only money saved but time as well. I am even thinking about completely skipping holiday candies and anything Christmas secific (mugs, ect). I'm curious how different this will feel. I always feel greedy over the holidays and think this will be a new thing to try. For purses, I swear I used to hoard Vera Bradley. I decluttered them and now use more neural colors that fo with everything. I have 2 purses now. Decision fatigue was an issue with purses for sure. And yes about decluttering it really makes you think about what you spend money on and don't use. I continue to declutter and over time I notice I'm a lot more intentional about shopping. Also, decluttering and intentional shopping kind of streamlines your life.
Lol about ur son and the elbow grease so cute 😂 and “a kid that doesn’t care about hair” lol. Great tips! Also maybe one day u can make a video about “credit card churning” I’m so lost but would love to learn and will look up things about it. TFS!
One to add to your list is when using a card of any kind, local places are charging an extra 3%. B aware and use cash at these times. Love all your channels! U rock!🎉
I went in to cal ranch and their toys were 50% off! I bought our daughter's Easter and birthday gifts for next year! Shopping done and saved a lot of money!
Oh I 100% know the elbow grease story! I looked high and low for 30 minutes for it when my step mom asked me what I was doing. After the crowd of company we had over died laughing at me they finally explained it to me... one of my most embarrassing moments lol
So funny you mentioned that repair. Last year I used UA-cam to replace a leaking waterline. Saved a lot of time and money, no waiting for the repair person for hours or days!
I have always gotten decorations, gift bags, tape and wrapping paper 50-70% at after Christmas sales. You can get decor, party plates and napkins for most other holidays too.
I personally love the tip about selling everything that you aren’t using! I’m in the process of decluttering and selling all the things right now. so far I’ve only sold furniture and have made $400! 😊 Just wondering where you, or any of you, have had the most success with selling different items??
I have to start selling online. I have brand new kids coats and women's coats. Have to get them out before black Friday. Lol. I have to find the best places too. I think offer up is good. Good luck. PS. A few comments down sells on Thread up.
@@cynthiakeller5954 I have been having some good luck on Facebook marketplace and on eBay. I’m considering expanding to Mercari and Poshmark. I have not had much luck on offer up or thread up. I am in the Daytona beach area. I feel like different apps work better in different areas of the country. I used to live in Cincinnati Ohio and back then didn’t have much luck with Facebook marketplace but did better on craigslist.
@@schwingyshwoo TY, I live in rural Indiana. I was in the military so I have unique stuff from my overseas assignments plus girly vintage collectibles. I don't think there is a market for that kind of stuff on fb marketplace, too many hillbillies, lol!
@@cynthiakeller5954 😂 eBay would probably be your best bet then. If you have a whole lot of stuff , you could consider opening an Etsy shop. It might make more money there but they also take more money. You can also list things on Facebook marketplace and ship them. Might not get as much money for them but they don’t have as many fees either. Good luck!
Yes!! All of these tips are doable...I do many of these and more! You can never say this enough... Thank you ❣️ Also join your favorite restaurant and stores rewards programs ...great way to save!
I love all of these but the one that I was waiting to hear was, unplug appliances not in use ( I just learned this myself) My air fryer has a display that lights up with the word OFF. That is a constant slow drain on my meter. When it is unplugged guess what, no light, no electricity use. Then I see my Instapot has a light indicator also. All that kitchen stuff gets unplugged and put away. Oh don't get me started in streaming services. Netflix is one price hike away from being irrelevant in my house. I love this money saver video and the video on stuff you don't buy. I stopped getting drive thru food when you mentioned the average cost of just a burger combo is around $10 or $12. There is so much I can do with $12 worth of burger or chicken meat. love the channel.
8:16 This is a REALLY good tip. I do this ALL the time! I grew up really poor and for a long time struggle with impulse buying the older I got. This is tip is Golden. I really puts things in perspective right in front of your eyes.
If you go to an outdoor event that starts during the day and goes into the evening, bring a jacket. I remember trying to enjoy Shakespeare in the Park, but we were freezing because it got cool that summer night and we were dressed in t-shirts and jeans.
I like your list. As I was watching and listening like usual my addh epiphany light bulbs were activated and holy crap I do lots of these plus some other ones. My biggest savings comes from my worst habit, smoking 😝 ....I get tobacco and tubes and make my cigarettes for about a dollar a day.... commercially made packs would cost me ten, twelve or more dollars every day. So that's upwards of four thousand dollars a year of savings. Only buy on sale is my favorite. Salvation army and goodwill is where I get most clothes, especially dress clothes. Socks and underwear go on sale during the back to school days of summer. Seems like shorts and swimsuits go on sale right after the first few weeks of summer. Buy used bikes, campers, boats in the fall and new ones in the spring. Most hunters won't sell their guns but they might sell their bows in the fall or late summer to get a new one. One another of my favorites is that "if it's a good deal today, it'll be a good deal tomorrow, goodnight". This for me is anything over a hundred bucks or so. If I miss it by then well too bad it wasn't meant to be.....which kinda sucks but it works for saving money and learning to let go, trust and not give in to an impulse. Enough outta me 😁
When my husband & are traveling & go out to eat in the states or overseas, we always split one meal. We have never had any push back even at fancy restaurants. Also, we generally get water to drink. If my husband wants a beer, he purchases it in a grocery store for a couple of dollars & he drinks it in our room. This has saved a ton of money on our trips. ✈️❤️👍🏼
Working from home-yay! Cooking my own food-awesome! Thrift stores/consignment stores/dollar stores are the best! And using up all or most of what you have. And repair it vs buying a new one. Especially high heels or coats. Zippers and buttons are inexpensive. Shoe soles can be replaced. Extra tip... Don't use dry cleaners so much! Just refresh it! For my coats and jackets, unless I spilled something on it or there's mud... I take light or dark towels that just been washed, throw in my coats or jackets and a hand full of dryer sheets into the dryer. Medium temp... Never high! And my coats and jackets come out fresh and clean. Just don't try this with leather or animal pelts. Wool/cotton/polyester and such should be fine. Great video!🤩😍
Faves - Eat at home. Repair before replace. Library. Some have specialty cake pans to check out. My daughter got all of her garden seeds from the public library. Change filters
I definitely take advantage of selling clothes, shoes, and occasionally bags. There is a consignment shop in town for nicer things. But, if you’re patient (processing times are incredibly slow!), ThredUP is a great way to earn money on things that you might otherwise donate. I’m so guilty of falling for the “Target Trap”. I go in for a chapstick and some socks. But I leave with two shirts, makeup, a frozen pizza, a birthday card, and some holiday decor. 😂Oh, yeah. Totally forgot the chapstick.
Oh yes the other day, I went in for a 10 litre water thing, and spent $60 on other stuff and completely missed the water. Well they had rearranged the store and I didnt go past it. So I forgot it.
My tip is : use your local library for videos tv shows or audio books. It's a lot of fun to get videos to binge and it makes you actually watch and pay attention.
We keep our receipts like mad! I have a separate agenda book and keep an envelope in there per season. I stick my receipts in the current envelope and write down day per day what it is I spent according to said receipt. If I need it for a warranty, it's at least written down in there.
I have a hard time finding easy recipes I’m not the best cook so I need simple things that I can put together after working a 10 hour day to have some suggestions for me I really would appreciate it
I turned off our cable TV + reduced the speed of our internet. Now saving $300 a month. I spend about $25 dollars a month on streaming channels. I have a 2015 Chevy Volt and only have to refill my gas tank once yearly ( 9 gallons ). I buy vegetables & some fruits at the 99cent only stores. A bag of 6 sweet bell peppers ( Red, Orange & Yellow only $2.49 that's only about .42 cents each. Same with the green ones. At Walmart, they are like $1.50 each for the sweet & the green ones are like 89 cents each. I also shop at Aldi and Grocery Outlet.
Loves the video!! I recently shopped around for different house insurance quotes because I found my current one to be quite high. Ended up saving $1200 per year 😮 so glad I checked into it!
I will check out Dave’s boy cut video. I binge watched some cut videos after paying $30 for a shitty haircut on my 3 year old last week. I’ve lined up my guys for years, but I’m ready to ditch the appointments for disappointment, and try the whole cut myself! Thanks!
Just to let everyone know next year Car insurance, is going up and everyone is going to get a price hike, so hubby and I are going to wait and put some money away. Our company said because of all the damage from Hurricane Ian, insurance companies are running out of money, or going broke.
It's also due to cost of veh repairs as newer models come equipped w/ reverse cameras & all sorts of sensors. Minor bumper accidents are now more expensive thanks to those things.
I grew up poor, so my number one hack is to spend like I still am, no matter how many raises I get. Love some of these tips though.
Same here!
Best way!
I can relate.❤
Same.
I just fixed a leaky toilet and replaced a washing machine intake valve by myself thanks to UA-cam!
Nice work!
Awesome Lynne! I've fixed a few things myself thanks to You Tube too.
Well done!!!
Ditto but mine was refrigerator and sink p-trap, 😉. You tube rocks!
I fixed my dryer. Three years ago. I still beam about it. Hahha😅
I did a pickup order at my Kroger today. I saved $50 because I had 2 digital coupons worth $25 specifically for pickup orders and digital coupons for various items and sales for another $25. My $94 order cost me $44 just because I did a pickup order! What an awesome score!
Good job 👍🏻

As a single mother of 4 back in 1980's with a deadbeat ex that wouldn't pay child support, I went to work driving truck, heavy equipment and construction. I'm sooooo glad I did! This has saved me a small fortune over the years!! Every little bit helps! Thanks for the tips.

@@Gigi...... I second that. Way to go Cindy!
Good idea!
That’s great!
We make yogurt in the instant pot. It’s around $5 for gallon of whole milk, $2 for table cream, occasionally $2.99 for a plain yogurt to reset the starter. It makes 2X what we used to get for 11.99 and go through weekly for smoothies, breakfast, sauces, etc. delicious!
Can i do this in a crock pot?😭😭 I just got mine and idk how to use it yet
@@timestax Great idea! didnt even think of that!
I do this, and also repackage ground beef into 12 oz packages. I use 12 oz when the recipe calls for a pound, nobody really misses it.
Thank you. Great ideas

Maybe this is just here in the UK, but there is actually a cleaning product called elbow grease! 😄
One of my favorites 😉
Elbow grease with dishsoap and baking soda does wonders! Vinegar for windows. That's all I have for cleaning the house in Canada
Getting a milk frother has absolutely changed my coffee game! It makes me feel like I’m drinking something fancy and I don’t even miss Starbucks.
I plan on doing the same thing ! I love my Cabin fever & Grounded !
Yes!! Since I got my milk frother I rarely go out for coffee. I actually like mine better.

Please consider doing a video on how to churn credit cards and how to travel frugally! We don't buy Christmas gifts anymore for our kids. We don't want stuff we want to create memories. Would love to use your tips to save when doing this!

A few of my hacks:
#1: Make sloppy joes.
Also a great skill if anyone in the family has skin sensitivities or allergies and can only wear specific fibers.
I’m doing that to! Crocheting is easier than cutting out fabric though. But I’m learning
whenever i recieve a mylar balloon for any occasion -i take it apart at the seam and save both pieces.when i have a unique shaped gift to wrap,i just take a piece that matches that holiday (valentine balloon, graduation, etc) and wrap the gift in it-free wrapping paper and very shiny and festive!
Now that's a great tip! I hate wasting things and this is perfect!
Regarding the library tip and birthday party tip... Our local library provides free rooms for rent with reservation! We have used them for baby showers and birthday parties.
I don’t know that. I’m going to check with mine
As a prolific reader, the library saves me TONNES of money! I also utilise their app to download audiobooks/ebooks/magazines. I save at least £50 a month (between Audible/Kindle Unlimited/buying physical books).
Definitely ebooks, and I use audiobooks on long drives. Allows me to take my time without getting lonely and bored.
I love the ebook option available through our library especially when I realized I could read them without internet. So handy for camping.

I LOVE these tips! I've fixed our dishwasher so many times thanks to UA-cam education + ebay parts!

@@PJwithheart I didn't know what it was either so I googled it. Basically it's opening new credit cards to get their opening bonuses and then closing them at the end of their bargains. Could really hurt your credit.

If you are not in the financial market space right now, you are making a huge mistake. I understand that it could be due to ignorance, but if you want to make your money work for you, prevent inflation from eroding your savings, build generational wealth, and cultivate good habits and financial knowledge, you must be in the market.
The common mistake we newbie mistake is venturing into the market without help and legit guidance

I've never seen a bake aisle on the perimeter anyway. Just maintain control of your spending.

Money saving tip on cards- I found a box of 12 birthday cards at my Walmart for $1.98. They also have sympathy, thank you and anniversary options.
Clothes that are line-dried last a lot longer, too.

Win-win! 🧡

I literally made my shopping list for my boys for Xmas and I agree. I asked my 5 yr old what he wanted and all he wanted was fidgets. Lol.
Great tips! It doesn't hurt to hear a few of them as a reminder and to hear some new ones and try them out. Well done! Thanks! :D

You are my favorite for frugal tips . Simple to the point and not the same old things but not the over the top crazy stuff .
So funny you mentioned that repair. Last year I used UA-cam to replace a leaking waterline. Saved a lot of time and money, no waiting for the repair person for hours or days!
“What a time to be alive” 😊…Gotta love her!! 😂
I enjoy every video ever made 👏🏻
I have always gotten decorations, gift bags, tape and wrapping paper 50-70% at after Christmas sales.
I've got a house full of stuff I need to sell. I don't know where to start. Any ideas?
I agree with you about using you tube to repair things. Its a game changer. I actually practice some of these recommendations.
We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Mint mobile! The rest of the tips are awesome too! Love it!
I'm proud of myself, I do quite a few of these. Thanks for the tips!!!
You’re gorgeous, funny and frugal. Perfection personified.
Enough outta me 😁
Costco is like Target that way. They have cute stuff, stuff that looks good, stuff you think you need and $300 later you wonder what you bought.
I find that defeats the whole purpose of traveling.
I bought one really high quality leather purse on our honeymoon in Utah and it was 100% worth the money! Only use 1 purse at a time ;)

Eat at home.

Less purses

Those are some wonderful library offerings. What state is this in?
I definitely take advantage of selling clothes, shoes, and occasionally bags. There is a consignment shop in town for nicer things. But, if you’re patient (processing times are incredibly slow!), ThredUP is a great way to earn money on things that you might otherwise donate.
I’m so guilty of falling for the “Target Trap”. I go in for a chapstick and some socks. But I leave with two shirts, makeup, a frozen pizza, a birthday card, and some holiday decor. 😂Oh, yeah. Totally forgot the chapstick.
I wish they sold Chapstick in a 20 pack. I could eliminate a monthly trip to the store just for Chapstick and save money on impulse buying.
@@timestax I think Sam's club sells jumbo packs.
No Target here i my country, but know the feeling when you get to the store to get a head of lettuce and come out with 150$ worth of stuff..
Oh yes the other day, I went in for a 10 litre water thing, and spent $60 on other stuff and completely missed the water. Well they had rearranged the store and I didnt go past it. So I forgot it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣me, too!!!
Everything on this list is 100% doable and makes day to day much more peaceful, less stressful & life waaaaay better overall👍
We do some of these things and it does make a difference. Every little bit helps and everyone knows what they can afford.
My tip is : use your local library for videos tv shows or audio books.
It's a lot of fun to get videos to binge and it makes you actually watch and pay attention.
Great tips! I got a Costco credit and use it just for gas . The Costco rebates the next year are an added bonus!
We keep our receipts like mad! I have a separate agenda book and keep an envelope in there per season. I stick my receipts in the current envelope and write down day per day what it is I spent according to said receipt. If I need it for a warranty, it's at least written down in there.
I have a hard time finding easy recipes I’m not the best cook so I need simple things that I can put together after working a 10 hour day to have some suggestions for me I really would appreciate it
@@janfastert7489 Me? How come you think I have them?
Buy clearance clothes, if you can get multiples of the same plain shirt… hello embroidery or sewing beads on to alter them
1. Your hair looks great! 2. No 65 is totally not required 3. Try a no spend year.
Loved this vlog!
Thank you for reminding me to change the air filter! It was super gross and probably hadn't been changed in months
You and Becky from acre homestead have become my new favorite youtubers😊
So helpful! thanks for taking your time to save us money!!
