The Max Run 4 has been great - I didn’t have the sloppiness concerns that they mention. The lightness is awesome and I love the hyper burst which for me was more responsive yet still plenty of cushion for me. The Bondi was too mushy for my long (20+ mile) runs. Personally, I’ll be interested to see how the new upper feels. I was won over by the Max Run 4 and looking forward to trying the 4+.
they should've just improve the Maxroad 3 instead of a full overhaul. The maxroad 3 with flight gen midsole was THE REAL max cushioned shoe. Soft, high stack, decently flexible in the forefoot, and even had some holes in the midsole for drainage (nobody realised how innovative that was? I ran in the rain during a 73K ultramarathon in that shoe and the inside of the shoe got dry quickly. It was amazing). And it was 8,2oz in a US9, just like the maxroad 4. It was soft but you can definitely take it faster than a Bondi (or maybe even a Clifton). The only negatives I can think of for the Maxroad 3 were the outsole rubber (not good year, and not too grippy), and... aesthetics. It was downright ugly and boring (the only colorway was old man grey with strips of red, it was a mess). But even with that, it was still one of the best shoe I ever bought (cheap too).
😂 I like this Rose went straight to the point of what a lot of viewers want, Its a bit Narrow It aint plush it aint high cushioned so you'll prob pass this one
I bought two pairs on sale at Skechers Outlet for $28 each. I’m happy 😃. Too high end for regular Skechers customers and snooty runners turning up their noses = bargains for the rest of us bargain hunting runners.
I have to say... the look of her shoe / colorway is really nice, as they said. For my taste, the best looker I've seen from Skechers so far. (GRR7 is still my favorite of their shoes though.)
Max road can be a daily trainer and long run shoe in one. I used it for every thing except speed days. I’ve put 400 miles across two pairs. I’m concerned that my wide feet won’t fit as well in this traditional upper compared to the stretchy one. I do find that the max road is great on rough pavement, really absorbs the rough texture for some reason. I’m rambling now, but I wear 1080 on smooth concrete and max road on rough pavement.
Love this new upper. I just took out the max road 4 with the sandwich upper and thought....wish it would have a normal upper. Cant wait....I love Skechers!;)
I miss the maxroad 3. Maxroad 4 is the king of blisters. The large and firm lugs push through the sole and rub in my feet. The upper is way too hot. But the first 2-3 miles are ok. They’re a high cushion responsive shoe. Significantly faster shoe then a clifton.
I think the max is intended to be more of a Rincon. compared to the rest of the market Skechers as a brand is about light weight faster shoes. It’s a max cushioned shoe for skechers. So I would compare it to the beacon, epic react 2, Rincon 2, and etc....
This is a great review, thank you for the comparisons to Hoka One One's. I love how you just tell it how it is without sugarcoating anything. "Be true to the shoe, not the name"
I always wonder if there is a real difference in the way the same cushion feels to people, depending on their underfoot contact points to the insole area, their weight and the force/speed with which their feet strike the ground. Jamie maybe has a more forceful footstrike which allows the cushion to do its job, whereas Rosemary has much less force exerted on the ground, so the shoe would feel stiffer, less compliant...?
the sketches maxroad is a great long run shoe and I mean long run 30km+ not 10km one of the best Maximal Stack Height shoes of 2019 and you agreed last year!!
I agree with a lot of the stuff said, but overall, I think it's a pretty good shoe. Plus, I've been able to pick up the Max Road 4 for $45...and I'll do that all day long.
Would it be appropriate to say it might compare to the rincon? Kind of a niche smooth light cushioned trainer that can pick up the pace as well as going easy?
I really liked the max road hyper 4 for max cushion forgiving shoe and I never thought I’d say that about a sketcher. This new one isn’t as plush then? I thought they just changed the upper and not the midsole and outsole?
There should be another category for the Bondi 7. It is so soft I felt like I was running in mud. The Skechers had plenty of cushion yet were firm enough to be "real."
I'd been wanting these for a while, but, I'll wait until the Maxroad 3 generation comes back. I have a pair of Triumph 17s on the way, so, we'll see what they do. I'm thinking they'll be better than the Maxroad 4+.
The removable insole is a deal-breaker for me. I loved the Ride 8, except that the removable insole began to bunch up and wouldn’t stay in place. I couldn’t handle it anymore.
I hope the Goodyear rubber is an improvement, on the Max4 I wear through a couple pods starting around 250 miles. Shoe Goo to the rescue! (which is more durable than the rubber on the Max4...)
Hehehe... Average? Jami asks with a side glance. Jami says it was floppy. Rosemary is visibly distraught about floppiness.😕 You always want a wider bass right?🍑🍆🤷♂️😉 Stiff you say? 😂🤣 You guys just killed me.🤣 The camera loves The Rose I have to say... great banter between y'all...MB can't be replaced... but The Rose is one helluva pinch hitter! Seems the Skechers folks need to be more focussed if this is the assessment... there are direct excellent competitors in each category... so they either class the MR4 as a new category or make sure it competes in the current ones - I know not everything needs a box but it makes choosing easier and that's the whole point right? Anyway - Rose and JM you slayed it today - and please can we have more 'pinch hitting' in the future!😁
I really love that you have a second person in all your reviews, nice to hear two people's thoughts in one. Any plans to take a look at the Addidas Boston 9? I'm looking to move on from my Pegasus 35 and they've caught my eye
Prism is a responsive stability shoe, the beacon is a lightweight neutral. I guess if that's people want to see. I'd probably compare prism to another light stability shoe though
@@JamisonMichael thanks for the reply mate.👍👍 Yeah... I was thinking that since the Prism is a 'mild' stability shoe that its worth the comparison on that basis....hehehe... probably best just to test run them. Again thanks for a great channel... you, your production skills and your guests always rock! ✌🏆 Keep joggin elitely.😎
I just sued skechers in India. Their ultra go was irritating my heel so asked for a different shoe/refund. They did not have any inclination to do that so had no choice but to sue them in small claims court.
Hi, I'm a heavy guy, BMI of 34, weighing 240lbs. I used nike pegasus 35 and then adidas pulseboost hd.. found the pulseboost to lack sufficient cusioning. I run about 5-8km about 5times a week. I run in the park on soil/grass. I want a shoe that is comfortable and can help me run longer. I'm a pretty slow runner, I do about 8km in 56-60 minutes. I used the pegasus 35 again and found them more comfortable than the adidas. However they fell a little narrow. Could you recommend me some options please?
Sounds a lot like the NB Fresh Foam More v1. Massive stack height, lighter than it appears, bizarrely really stiff and firm midsole for a “max cushion”, cushy insole. Oh and weak pull tab game.
It's so distracting that everytime Rosemary faces Jamison, she leans away. It almost looks like she's going to get up and walk away, in the middle of a sentence.
@@JamisonMichael you're kind. Thank you for understanding constructive criticism. It has nothing to do with you as a person personally. You're actually a nice guy
I feel so sorry for doing drugs everytime I watch these shoe review. Not that I do it every video. But I just do it sometimes. What's your problem with drugs anyways? Like Ali G said (about abortions): "Surely you should try something, before you say it is bad."
Rosemary's honest and straightforward review shocked Jamie and cost him his Sketchers sponsorship. haha
For god sake there is no t in Skechers 😭

I had nearly the same experience. I even returned the Bondi
they should've just improve the Maxroad 3 instead of a full overhaul.

Spot on... Loved the Maxroad 3. It was a very underrated shoe.

The max road 4 to me feels highly cushioned and the ride 8 feels stiffer. I’m so confused
Why?
Agreed! The run ride 8 felt stiff and not very plush. The max road 4 was not as plush as a hoka but felt much smoother and forgiving than that Ride 8
I have to say... the look of her shoe / colorway is really nice, as they said. For my taste, the best looker I've seen from Skechers so far. (GRR7 is still my favorite of their shoes though.)

Does it fit the same as the OG Maxroad 4? I found the OG Maxroad 4 ran long and I needed to go a half size smaller
Careful....I am 65 and wear bright green running shoes:-)
Still gr8 sponsorship! Skecher's real good!
I feel like part of the issue here is the amount of time ran in the shoe the maxroad's midsole has a break in period and the foam opens up
