I really love the sound of the stock exhaust and being able to hear the gear whine while riding. Of course a true tuned reverse cone with correct cone length and diameter will benefit overall dynamics of engine performance. G.P. Racing bike tuners knew the formulas for appropriate builds for specific engine displacement regarding exhaust tuning and manufacture of header and reverse cone dimensions. Example, MV-August and Hondas hay day of GP racing. Same can be said for two-stroke expansion chamber designs for G.P. and flat track, ie; Kenny Roberts TZ-750. In the early seventies I raced Yamaha and Suzuki moto-cross bikes. A company called Torque Engineering made a performance tuned expansion chamber for my bikes, 100cc and 250 respectively. These were down-sweep designed for maximum exhaust scavenging and performance at mid and high throttle positions. Same techniques are employed for correct size header and reverse cone exhausts for four stroke engines. I have a newly purchased Royal Enfield 2022 Continental GP-650. After this bike is broken in, I plan on building an exhaust for my bike, using dimensions from bore and stroke performance figures from Royal Enfield Racing Division. 👍👍🏁🏁
I put a Verex (made in Tasmania) straight through polished stainless system on my Interceptor which looks and sounds awesome. Dumped a bit over 11kgs, and picked up nearly 4hp and 3.5 nm torque, according to the dyno.
For me best sounding and looking is the second one. It sounds so good and looks like if a cheap guy took his plumber dad pipelines and put it on the bike, which in essence is cafe racer style, modding a bike cheaply to run faster!
I have the brushed steel TEC cone silencers and their straight through header pipes (no inner pipe and no cats). Both really improved performance and I'm happy with the sound, but I like the look of those slash cut silencers.
congrats!! , all of your videos that I saw , excellent explanation, the comparasions , the process, very professional. I bougth two weeks ago a continental and you´re give me some good ideas to improve my new bike. best regards from Bogotá.
I prefer the sound of the second one but #3 looks best. I do think #2 might be a good candidate to make a budget BAAK inspired exhaust setup. Running the mufflers through a bandsaw to get a straight edge on it and cutting the stock exhaust under the engine would come close.
I agree. I like the sound on #2 more and was hoping to get that sound on #3; I just like the look of #3 a lot more. I thought about cutting the header pipes for #2 but if I screw up or want to put the stock back on it will become a lot more expenseive!
Yes, the stock exhaust sounds good 👍 but once you get a little bit of speed and wind noise you can't hear the exhaust so I'm not getting the audio feedback from the exhaust I like to hear when riding.
@@RideWithJerry Thanks for your help, Installed it this weekend and everything went very smoothly. WOW! the sound is LOUD and I love it. I love the way it looks too! I might get the baffles if it helps lower the pitch, but I love the way they sound. I also installed the NDA air filter... I can say it seems a little more responsive and pulls with a little more force! Thanks again and let me know if the baffles will LOWER the pitch a bit..
@@johnjay6370 Yes, it sounds great without the baffles but was WAY too loud for my neighborhood! The sound in the video is with the baffles. I didn't get any video of them without.
if it was on the same side say right side it will look nice but you will need to add custom pipe from left side to bring to the right side for slash cut exhaust
So I bought the reverse cone mufflers after watching this video and I do like the way the sound, but I do find I get a bit of exhaust leakage at the back of the muffler where it meets the header pipe. If there anything you did to try and snug things up a bit/straighten the mufflers out to make the fit more seamless? Great video though, really awesome comparison!!
I used a couple reducers to get a tight fit. I also used some exhaust silicone gasket sealant, used the original stock clamp NOT the cheap one provided with the exhaust. And finally, make sure you get it on as straight as possible. I have another video where I show how I installed the exhaust ua-cam.com/video/tXsQRRLdHOM/v-deo.html
@@RideWithJerry I think where I went wrong is that the stock muffler attaches to the back via an additional black bracket that has two screw holes which I left on, I just attempted to retro fit the new muffler to that but found that the little extension arm doesn’t fit to it at all. I’ll try taking that off, I think that’ll solve my problem! Thanks so much for linking your tutorial video, creep up the great work with the channel!!

Yes, some of the more expensive exhausts sound a LOT better! They have that deeper note. For $90 I think these are a good change but someday I'd like a better quality exhaust system.
Great content buddy. Really fan of ur work. Try making a single video with all mods, and provide links to buy them. Thanks for such a lovely content, keep going..
I also like the last one for the look and the sound a bit more fat, did you have to change anything else to run the engine ok after changing the exhaust? I have to get one for me 2016's GT535 👍🏼
Hei there great work on your video Very much informative There is a quick question to Where did you get the crome style seat cowl for your GT? Its looks superb ...
Nice video! I prefer the more beefy sound of the stock exhaust, I just wish it was a little bit louder. Changing the subject, what did you use to paint the seat cover/cowl chrome? I have the dual seat with the cowl and I want to give a chrome look to it as well. cheers.
I bought a metal chrome seat cowl off eBay. But, I also tried both painting and wrapping a chrome cowl with questionable results 😀 I posted a video on what I did ua-cam.com/video/dmlkvFSQV7Y/v-deo.html
Very very nice gt continental modified. Please rear or front tyre upgrade. Metzler karro street 150 70 r 18. Please tyre upgrade best look for rear. You are very nice . God bless you my sweet bro
Thanks 👍 Yes, I bought two new tires. Got a wider tire for the back (Pirelli Scorpion Trail II Dual Sport 150/70 R18) But I'm waiting to mount. I want to do a tubless conversion on the spoked rims first. You can see the tires in the backgrond here during the video ua-cam.com/video/Sh69nIgfEME/v-deo.html
What issue did you run into with the baffles on #3 that you had to take them apart? Looking to do the same as you but want to learn from your experience
The issue I had was my own fault. Didn't tighten a bolt properly. The baffle in one exhaust came loose and was rattling around in the exhaust. Instantly noticeable as one exhaust suddenly got much louder.
I tried two different baffles (inserted into the existing baffle.) The first one I used was 45mm width and it fit perfectly BUT I didn't like the sound it produced. I then swapped with a different baffle but I couldn't find the exact size. It's 48mm so the top of the inserted baffle sits on top of the existing baffle. I had to drill a hole and bolt it in place, a pain in the ass, but eventaully got it to work & sound the way I wanted.
I like the sound of two best, however I find Royal Enfield's exhaust system sticks out from the frame so much, its ugly when viewed from the rear..I'm sure weight, however minor must have some effect when in such a position. .
The stock is way too big, especially since I cut the frame for the shorty tail. And yes, they do stick out but I think it may look awkward due to the narrow rear tire. I'll be adding a wider tire on the back, changing it from a 130 to 150, so that may help improve the look from the rear.
@@RideWithJerry Replace the header pipe with the bigger inner diameter straight-through-sans-cat one from TEC. Made a big difference in sound and performance on my Continental. Even more than the silencer change I had done.
I think the stock exhaust system is way too heavy and bulky. It shou have been smaller and sleak in style to compliment the overall looks of the motorcycle. I'd prefer smaller short pipes rather than big mufflers.
Yeah I agree... I think the size is due to sound and emission requirements. But, I love to see them design a smaller exhausts the meets the requirements.
For $0 extra you could have avoided pissing off your neighbors and everyone else in the world you happen to drive by. What is it with wanting to make more noise? If you like that do the rest of us a favor and put on some bluetooth earbuds and have your smartphone play something so loud that you will be needing hearing aids before you are 45. The extra weight down low is really a non-issue. Are you racing? Buy a faster motorcycle. Lose some weight yourself. Silence is golden, and no I am not wanting an electric motorcycle. The stock exhausts with their air pollution (HC, CO, NOx) reduction catalysts are perfectly fine with me. Btw, why didn't you record the sound as heard from the rider's position on the bike? The answer is you want to know how cool you think your bike will sound to "other people". News for you, 99% of the rest of the world hates the excess noise you throw at them.
