I've been making my way through their book, too! So far I've made a lavender elephant, a light blue hippo (twinsies!), a toad, the fox which is adorbs, a monkey, and a chick. BUT I love what you did with the variegated yarn & the chick pattern! I have an earthy tone yarn that I decided to make another multi-color chick. So super cute! 🎉
Oh cool!
I love your LOVIES!! I think the chick is adorable in variegated!
I don't think you'll have a problem selling anything you've made.
The posh items may work well for regular Keychain decorations.
Fingers crossed! I think the posh would also be good for things like the wings on bees, they would hold their shape better and not be so floppy.
😂 "the old gray goose". Hey Robin, the song is 🎵 the old grey mare she ain't what she use to be. 🎵 😂 It's an old folk song. We use to sing it when I was a little girl (I'm almost 71 now). 😊 All your plushies are so adorable. 💜
Omg! it's "The Old Gray Goose is Dead" I was mixing up the 2 in my head.🤭 I'm glad I was thinking that while making it!! 😂
I was looking at my horses yesterday and that song got stuck in my head too. 😂 Oddly enough my horses aren't old. 😮😂
There is a page in the book that tells you the size of the dino in 4 different weights of yarn. The size depends on the yarn weight or # on the skein. The ones in the book pictures are made with Super bulky weight chenille yarn. You just need to write down what you are using and make some notes on the sizes you like best.
For me, mine never come out the same size on any pattern LOL I keep trying the different yarns and I figure it out.
My favourite is the blue hippo and I love the chicken
Love the goose 🪿 👌🏻
I love the colors of the chick lovey. More realistic imo. I have chickens that are lots of different colors.
Thank you! 😊
You don’t have to use any of the colours indicated. Using your imagination is key to creativity. They are totally cute. I think I’ll get that book now since I e seen your great work.💖
You will love the book!
The frog is my fav!
So far I like the goose!
After having fails in the past I’ve learned to listen to my gut regarding new items x
Those are very sweet loveys! All of them were really cute 🧡 I'm not sure why axolotls have been so popular for a couple of years now, but I see them being made all over the place.
Thanks! I think Minecraft has made them popular.
@@KnottingHookCrochet So that's what is was! I never played and was confused why so many people knew what those things even were. 🤣
I've never played either!@@AntisocialAuntie
The chick is literally my favorite ❤
Thanks!🥰
I have the same book. I made 3 but so far none of them sold. I love the book. And I love all your loveys. Especially the colorful chick. I think it has a such character. Some kid will love it.
I hope they are a seller, they are a lot of work. Maybe I’ll hold off on any more until I see what happens with them.
I love the chick, it’s original!👍♥️
I've not done any of the patterns you chose so it was really nice to see your makes. I've done the dragon, yeti, mouse (not in book) unicorn and dinosaur but I really want to try the fawn/fox combo
The fawn is on my list when I have the colors 🫨
I'm hearing you Girl!! My husband wants to know why I buy so much yarn, as I tell him, I don't have the right yarn or the colour. Makes sense to me. Enjoy your day.
Exactly!!
I just bought that book! Can’t wait to pick one and make it! You did a great job!
Thanks! They are so cute it’s hard to choose
Well, after I saw your lovies, I couldn't resist. I went ahead and bought the Mama Made Minis book. Yours are very cute!
I think you will like it!
I just got that book yesterday! So glad I found your vids. I have never crocheted before, so I am following you closely. Granddaughter is getting my product, not mater how bad it turns out.
I'm sure it will turn out great!
Love the chicken
Thanks 🥰
I looove the chicken!!!!!
Thanks!!😊
Your loveys turned out so cute! I'll definitely have to pick up that book, I know a few people with kids and these would be great gifts.
Thanks!🥰
Your varigated chick is adorable!💜 I am so inspired to try a varigate yarn on my own chick.
Thanks!
I love them they are adorable especially the chick! I have just started making these and I am a beginner. I just made the Unicorn and it is my favourite so far. I used Bernat blanket in creamy white pale pink for the mane and grey for the hooves and it turned out so cute. I have all the same questions as you re: the pattern. It's really hard to get nice plushie yarn in Australia. I am addicted now to making these. 😆
The chick and the Hippo are my favourites
They are all super cute
Thank you 😊
I love that book of lovies. I have also just used the new Big Twist posh....I love it. Love your creations.
Thanks so much!
I love your videos.❤️ I just got the book. And I’m new and I hope I can learn to read the pattern. I’m a visual learner. Hope I can do it 🤞
You got this!
Got that book for Christmas❤
Have you made any yet?
Not yet. But you inspired me to get started. Need to make some chickens for my markets coming up first. @@KnottingHookCrochet
Mabel Chickens? They have not done well for me.@@terwr
I have that book In my cart !!!! I usually use a 6mm or 6.5mm ..I really wanna make the bunny in soft pink !!! ..urs are adorable!!!
Thanks so much! 😊
I love the chick!
Thank you🥰
About the stitches, I slip stitch over to where I need to be. You’ve gotten a lot done! I’ve been told with plush yarn to go down 2 hook sizes for Amigurumi. It’s confusing so now I’m sure to write on the patterns now with what I decided on and I always do yarn under.
I'm an under over girl. I've decided my next one I'm going to do the body separate then sew it on then it won't matter where my last stitch lands before the legs. Maybe that way I can keep the head straight 😂
Hi Robin, your lovies are so cute!! I started the elephant this evening for my 13 yr old granddaughter. She collects elephants and wanted this one. So of course Gramma is making it for her... Oh how I wish she didn't like elephants!! LOL😂😂😂 I've been crocheting for 50+ yrs and I'm having a few problems with the directions. Some rows, I'm doing what I think is better, my trunk turned out upside down.. So I ripped it out and did it my own way. I really want to make a few more of the items in this book, but I'll be going down a hook size. Also, did you notice that there was no place where it said how much yarn was needed for the main body?? I have questions too Robin!! 😅😉👸
I started with some of the easier ones to try and get use to their style of writing, but I did have some questionable areas.
I am officially relearning crochet today!!! House-sitting with a couple of pups and doing face scrubbies and washcloths should get a good start. And small enough to do with a pup on my lap lol!
Yay!! You can do it. I hope you can with a pup in your lap, with Toby no item is small enough 🤣🤣
@@KnottingHookCrochet 🤣 I should be able to. Toby wants to attack, Momo just wants to cuddle and fall asleep. And if I move too much she might leave 😁
I love seeing how everyone else’s mama made minis loveys turn out! Your chick is super cute variegated! I’ve done the fawn, fox, rabbit and chick so far. I actually made the modified chick into a penguin and it turned out great! I used the knot-free mod for the legs as penguins don’t have knees! I have only used Bernat Blanket with the recommended hook sizes and they come out pretty close to the measurements in the book. I haven’t had any issues with starting in the middle front of one of the legs. I just make sure there are 14 stitches in the round on either side. I did have to do a few extra SC shift stitches (2 or 3) on the Penguin feet to bring it to the side to close. My next ones will be Hippo and the Unicorn. Someone posted a hippo in pink and now I NEED to make one! I can’t wait to finally try the Premier Basix Chenille. I was finally able to order some since it took forever for them to restock the good colors! I really want to try one in the Posh now that I’ve seen how yours turned out! I thought it would come out too small, but that’s a good size!
Where did you get the knot free mod? I’m working on the unicorn now and it’s the first one that my last stitch ended in the correct spot to start the legs. I think it might have something to do with the way I’m attaching to the head.
@@KnottingHookCrochet I sent you a message on Instagram with the info on the Penguin modification since that is where they posted it. As for the leg stitch placement, I always start the foundation body stitch where they do in the instructions they have in the front of the book. 🤷🏼♀️
Just looked at mine and the pattern for hippo says finished size 16 inches so i guess you're right on😊
Cool!! Thanks!
I love these!!!
Would love a pattern for these loveys with thin yarn 🥹♥️
For that you would have to talk to the Mama Made Minis ladies.
I think that your colorful chick is really cute.
Thank you! 🥰
I love the chick
Axolotl are very popular with the kids who play the Minecraft games. I can't make enough for Craft Fairs. I sell out almost every time.
I have a pattern I like, the one I was talking about was very small instagram.com/p/CzFHvgBOO5s/?img_index=1
Robin, I have found “sometimes” THE KNOT makes a BIG DIFFERENCE, but I’ve soooo far been able to adjust them at least some better by playing around with the knot👍☃️YOUR LOVEYS ARE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME & MORE❣️❣️☃️☃️☃️❣️❣️Loves Ya’ Bunches & MORE, BARBIE😘🙏🏼😘
I think to make my knots look better I need to make a slightly longer leg so I can tie it easier.
@@KnottingHookCrochet Yes I usually make a few extra rows & it does the trick❣️A few times I was able to just work with the knot part a little and got it looking good❣️I do prefer making just an extra few rows, it takes less time than fiddlin’ with the knot to get it the way I want it to look❣️
New subscriber here, I love your otter so cut, lovey's are small as they need to be cuddled by toddlers and babies and a small toy for older children, it's also personal choice too 😂 I'm looking for patterns for variegated yarn in amigurumi and it's hard to find things. I love your videos and will be back tracking 👍
Thanks! 🥰 Welcome to the channel!
Those are adorable, Robin! I love the duck in the Hobby Lobby yarn. I think it's my favorite ❤. I know you don't like Bernat, but I use Bernat for these loveys, 7mm hook for the head, 9mm for the body. I agree. Otherwise, they tend to look short.
I'm trying to talk myself in to trying one with the Bernat. I think maybe with the bigger hooks it might be ok on my hands!
Your lovies turned out super cute! I love the chick! Axolotls are a great seller for me, just saying. I bought the pattern from Crochet by Genna... she also has a free tutorial for it.
I have an Axolotl pattern that I like. What I was talking about was an Axo-little it is very small I’ll try to get it back from Jenna and show it next time
New subscriber! I have the book but am trying to finish all my other projects first.😊
Thanks for subbing! It’s hard to wait, good luck!
I have questions about the legs too!
Right!!
Great video, just to say that safety eyes are not recommended for children under the age of three. Embroider the eyes and add white around the edge of the eyes to make them stand out against dark yarn. Love all the loveys that you made 😊
Thanks for the tip!
How funny, I think sometimes we are on the same wavelength. After we spoke the other day I said I would start with the frog first I had the same dilemma as you with colors. I chose to do the chick first and I used the bernet speckle black/white and then a terra-cotta for the beak and feet since those colors sell well for my hen pattern from Oak & Marllow and he turned out really cute! I’m working on the unicorn now and I’m using white and pale yellow from bernet baby blanket yarn. Also I’m using a number 7 on the head but a number 9 on everything else. I realized I didn’t have a number 8 🤦♀️ next purchase. Your loveys look great! ❤
The chick sounds pretty!
I forgot to mention🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪I’ve had problems with their “Suggested Hook Sizes Too” because of TOO MANY, TOO BIG OF SPACES & THE FILLING WAS TOO EASY TO SEE🤨🤨Also, an “idea” for your Frogs Eyes, to get them to show up better, but a little white near them for accent & they will show up better against the “dark green” etc. That is what I had to do on most of the LOVEYS when I used a very dark color yarn👍I love the Chick in the Variegated yarn, she’s Absolutely Beautiful ❣️❣️❣️❣️As Always, I Loves ya’ bunches & more😊Please stay WELL, HAPPY, & SAFE, Barb❄️☃️❄️
Do you always use the safety eyes? I've heard other people mention no eyes or stitch them on for babies.
@@KnottingHookCrochet I have used safety eyes, but I just feel better sewing them on. I have found several tutorials on sewing on eye designs/demos. Some show different ways to get several different expressions even.
I had to place a yarn order today.
Never fails, I need yellow in parfait 😭
Have you made the fawn lovey yet? I have been having a hard time with it. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Not yet. It’s on my list I’m waiting to place my next yarn order.
To add to my previous comment, the bobbles on the lamb's head make it quite dense. I did use a 7 mm. When making the body, I thought the heavy head made crocheting rather awkward, so I'll be doing future loveys with separate heads and bodies, then sewing on.
All the heads just dangling there make it awkward. My next one I'm trying the body separate too.
Hello 👋 aah.love the 🐥 so cute.there all cute.every time you said my goose.i laugh.thanks.
Are there any online tutorials for the animals in this book? I need the frog!
Not that I am aware of.
Home slim in terracotta is a brown I make teddy bears with it
Yes, I forgot about that color I haven't had it in so long!
Well, you’ve been busy! I love all your lovely’s, but your psychedelic chick is FAR OUT! Like my Dino I made with variegated yarn is my fave. Also I think all the colors would be very stimulating for children. Don’t know about any issues yet because I haven’t tried them yet! BTW, I think your chipmunk is adorable!! 😂
When you do get to make one, try doing the body separate and then sewing the head on. I think that way you can make your stitches land in the correct spot when you start the legs. Also I hate to say it but these might be Bernat patterns to get a decent size. Chipmunk 😂🤣🤭
How did you attach the safety eyes on the toad so you don't see the back of safety eyes on the other side?
I took a lighter and melted then flattened the point down.
Oh and on your otter put a key chain on it and sell it for $10 that’s what I do.
have you tried the bunny?
Not yet.
The book says they’re supposed to measure 15-16”
Hello all, this is my first attempt at a plushie toy and I purchased the clammier cow pattern but as I’ve never made anything other than blankets I am struggling on how to approach the legs into the main body part, I’ve sectioned up into 2 sides and done first row in decreasing from 12 stitches to 6 on one side but don’t know where to go from there. How do I continue onto row 2, do I slip stitch then continue around 1 leg or do I spin it around and go back the other way? I’m assuming the legs are done separately? Please help, a video would be great to watch if anyone has any suggestions, I’m stuck!!!!
You work in a spiral for the 2nd leg you reattach the yarn and work in a spiral again
I just got that book on Friday ! Some of the patterns confused me
You might find writing out the pattern will help you. I had to do that because the rows are complicated the way the pattern is printed in the book. Good luck!
Me too, but I find if I read it out loud it can make a difference.
I read that they will be 15 to 17 inches.
I just watched your video and have mini Goldie goose but I can’t figure out how to attach the wings can you help
If it's like the larger version you crochet them in as you do the rounds. You would just go through both pieces making your stitches.
Having trouble with the legs part. Suggestions ?
I made mine a little longer so I could tie the knots easier
I think your psychedelic chick is adorable
Thanks!🥰
I got the book late in December and finished one lovey. I decided that I wouldn't worry too much about matching the colours chosen in the book. I can't get that specific yarn right now so I went with the Bernat. I made the lamb in the 2nd largest size and it turned out 17inches long which is an inch longer than the book's size. I didn't like the floppy neck, so I sewed around it and it stablized the join much better. Watching your video made me rethink the join. I going to finish off the head, make the body separately and then sew the body to the head, which will be a stronger join for younger kids, like for my 2 yo granddaughter. I didn't have a problem with the knotted legs, but maybe for the toad I might stop with the legs before the toes, make the knot and then add the toes so they are spaced appropriately. I really don't like the format of the book, as I've said in other places. Maybe after I've done a few more, I might change my mind, but I plan to type out the patterns and enlarge the font. I'm working on the dragon using silver Baby Velvet, with pink accents. There's no rule about using the colours suggested in the pattern. I'm also going to add a touch of golden thread to make the wings sparkle. Thanks for reviewing the book!
I was thinking the same thing to do the body separate and sew it on. That would also solve my problem of where my stitch lands when starting the legs. Most of the time I change up the colors on patterns, like that chick may end up being a cardinal or a blue bird, ya never know!
of course we never have the right colors lol
Say it isn't so 🤣 it's not just me!?
@@KnottingHookCrochet lol no it is not just you🤣😂
I’ve made some in #4 weight to learn patterns. Great to see what they look like in #6 weight. The chick rocks!!!
Thanks for advice on hook sizes!
Interesting on where your rounds are ending, mine end on the side. I’ve noticed same with leg that is done with attached yarn (2nd leg), I’ve done an extra row.
I agree, great book! I would like to know what answers you get to your questions.
I do that sometimes, test it out with a 4 weight. all 4 my rounds did not end on the side i could be attaching the body incorrectly so I might try doing it separate and sew it on.
When I start the body, I start on one side of head, over a few stitches, across a few stitches then at the start. Maybe that is why. 🤷🏼♀️
I have thought about attaching separately.
