Why should she be ashamed for allowing her child some independence from an early age? You shouldn't have any reason to suspect that someone is in the toilet and intending on harming your child. I'm not going to condone the blade attack on the bus driver, but the bus driver seems to be an arrogant pig, can't he slow down seeing a child, a dog and men walking across? The men may be at wrong for not crossing in the proper crossing, but that doesn't give any right to a driver to almost run over them. May be the driver is a racist.
I live in London, and folks just walk across the road all the time, and expect the traffic to stop for them. They are supposed to use the correct points to cross, or at least make sure nothing is coming before you run across the road. So many folks just risk it and take a chance, thinking they can beat the car, which is much faster. Don't forget, carrying a knife is against the law, so this bloke was a criminal anyway.
