While he never produced EDM, I consider this guy the one that pretty much invented uplifting trance in its pure form. 6:09 onward is magic. I listened to Kitaro in my childhood and always felt drawn to his music in a way no other 'new age' electronic composers of that era could. Vangelis was hit or miss for me, and everyone else had that cheesy 70's, 80's sound going on, music is subjective of course..but no one held a candle to Kitaro. These days I listen to BT, Paul van Dyk...mostly their older material, though its thanks to him that I got into trance music...the real kind that takes ya on a journey without any drugs. -- thought Id share
Hi Matt, you should listen to the 2004 China version. It's much upbeat with drums backing up. I too listen to Kitaro since young and has led me to EDM and other electronic music. But in terms of composition and melodies, Kitaro is one of the best around.
