It’s so funny how most of them say no no i can’t speak English and then proceed to answer all questions in English 😂. I’m a foreigner in China, i try so much to encourage most of my Chinese friends to speak English because they can actually.
现在的中国年轻人其实更喜欢日韩,虽然日韩和中国关系非常不好,但是日韩文化比较吸引我们,中日韩长的也很相似
@@user-cy4tt4pp4s I don't know about China, but as a diaspora I definitely dislike Korea. And we are not similiar at all. Even Chinese born in other countries are completely different.
@@user-cy4tt4pp4s 不是吧!中國人還是喜歡有差異的西方文化,日韓和中國差異性不大沒有那麼多新鮮感
@@user-xn1ml1zo4j Chinese are originated from Vietnamese and South East Asians. They have round head, dark skin, wide nostrils, round nose, messy big eyebrows, fat lips. Koreans and Japanese look completely different from Chinese. Please don't make mistake!
😄 So true. I can't speak English and then answer questions in English. I would think in Japan it's probably the same.
what it's funny is that even though they say they can't speak English you somehow manage to make them speak in English, also I find quite interesting that Shanghai people can also speak Japanese.
That is mostly modesty.
Many young Chinese people can understand simple English for daily communication. The reason why we are reluctant to speak it is because we pay more attention to grammar and are afraid of making mistakes and misunderstandings. So you will find that when we are asked whether we can speak English, we generally say no, but when you really communicate with us , you will find that we can understand and communicate a litle (some are good at English)~
基本交流压根不需要那么复杂的单词语法
they probably can pop off if it's English comment XD
Because the purpose of most Chinese people learning English is to take exams, there are very few opportunities to really communicate with foreigners in English. In actual communication, we are also used to the thinking of coping with the exam. We must say a sentence without any grammatical and vocabulary mistakes, otherwise I would rather not say it.
@@user-we88888 i've found top students attend Ivy league's English is not as good as those attending party schools for the simple reason well off students socialized more, some even finished high school in the states, and the Ivy League students spend more time on their studies.
Bah! screw grammar! Just fire away! 🤣🤣🤣Language are supposed to be fun, not tedious!
"no I can't speak English" *proceeds to answer questions in English*
Thank you for being a bridge between Japan and China. Your videos are great!
@@aa-0731 ha?? where do you see people like that
@@monicaliu21on social media, mostly from the people who still are very angry with what happened in ww2. Normal people wouldn't blame it on Japanese people but only the government
The girl in red coat said her accent isn't very good. But i think her English is very good, very clear and easy to understand
Most Chinese English learners care too much about their pronunciation and accent, while the fact is their pronunciation and accent are not bad at all.
It’s interesting. Some of these ppl are actually capable of conversational English, but they are so terrified/stressed being interviewed in front of a camera.
To be fair, sometimes people just don’t want to engage in conversation
Nice video ! Chinese people are very modest about their language skills !
10:59 Her friend saw the camera and heard English and said “Ohhhh noo, not today!!” 😂😂😂 LOVED THIS VIDEO!! I wish people knew that your English doesn’t have to be perfect to be able to speak it, many of them sounded so good!
well...
for chinese,'can' is a very high level word to achieve
it's not english require us to be perfect,
it's ourself require ourself has TOEFL or SAT or something like that, than we can say‘i can say english’...
otherwise the answer is ‘no’ or ‘a little’。。。
That's why you can see so many people in this video can understand english question than saying ‘I don't speak English’ in English
how would you feel if a Chinese vlogger stick a mike in front of you to test how good your Mandarin is?
6:25 you can tell Kaho is very caring towards Chinese people by the way she talks to this young boy.
Great Video Kaho, keep it up!
it's nice to see your channel grow bigger and bigger
So humble...
Hi all Kaho fans, I think I know why she has not been updating. She has a newborn child~ congrats to her of cos.
Really enjoying this channel! Just subscribed! Keep up the great work, Kaho!
In China, we start learning English in middle school or elementary school, but we only learn how to take exams and don't know how to have everyday conversations. Most Chinese don't learn Japanese at school, but we grew up watching a lot of anime, so we know some basic words.
that means the defeat of china.

This is very interesting video. I like it so much. Pls continue to produce other video that funny like that
i love this vlog!
You are great Kaho. Your Chinese is so good too. Glad to see someone from Japan living in China and taking the time to share your talent and interaction with the local Chinese. There is lots of animosity between Japan and China and Korea and China because of politics and Americans. I hope we dont let America direct the way we treat and view each other. Keep up the great work.
Great video overall!
Great video!
I hope you upload more videos like this
Love your videos Kaho 💞😺
Omghh your channel has grown so much I remember when you had only 50 subs I,I’m glad I was one of them cause your channel is one of the way to learn more about china and the people so it’s really interesting thank you , I hope you keep growing !
Nice interviews, i like your videos. I am from Perú.
Love this channel ❤ Kaho kawaii
Actually nowadays most Chinese people speak good English! Esp youngsters about 20s or something in China can speak perfect English to be honest. Reason why most of them say they do not speak English is bcuz there is a major difference in the understanding of “speak a language or not” between Chinese people and foreigners lol. Most Chinese think that if you speak English, that means you’re fluent speakers that can speak confidently, barely with mistakes or accent. Moreover, there is a core Chinese value, to be humble and modest, so instead of bragging about our personal capabilities we are more likely to say that “just so so” just to be nice and thankful to other people’s compliments.
i have strong respect towards the boy wearing a black jacket, despite his influency in English, he tried to speak, that's just admirable
I have perceived a lot of xenophobia recently against Chinese on the internet, it's really sad to see. I hope we can make progress in this aspect. As a Mexican 🇲🇽 I admire the chinese people I belive in them and think they are the future. Saludos hermanos 🇨🇳
Time to travel and immerse
You think they are the future? So basically you're a communist sympathizer who wants the communist agenda to take over
The hostility isn't against China or Chinese people, it's against the CCP. China is an incredibly beautiful and ancient culture, that contributed to much to Humanity in various ways, and it's horribly seeing China being held back by the horrible communist regime
We should make more peace and learn from different cultures/countries. Greetings.
The anglo saxons demonize anyone they dislike and the Chinese happen to the victims so far and it's sad.

Great video!! The guy at 11:05 seems very well traveled
Hi Kaho, when is the next video coming out? Love the videos.😊
Subscribed because of this good social content. When will you upload very soon?

How cute this was, thank you pretty gal. Aloha from an old guy on Maui
Kaho so cute 😊
11:02 that girl is too funny 😂 do you speak English? She just ran!!!!! What a legend 😂
He knows what it means. He just doesn't want to Do
Kaho, it's always interesting to see unrehearsed reactions, very good. In Florida we have many Chinese owned businesses so I learned hello and thankyou in Chinese to show respect.
I hope they extend you the same courtesy as most will barely give you a nod let alone engage in small pleasantries.
@@sara.cbc92 You are correct, but that doesn't bother me I always take the high road.
@@matthewgraham2546 good for you.
@@sara.cbc92 It just goes to show that different cultures have different social skills, and people with higher social skills are definitely superior to dumb people. No culture is perfect. I hope you understand that.
Can't do the same to American-born Chinese. They could take offense in it and call you racist. It's a complicated world.
Exactly, a group of my friends I met in Uni are from shanghai and most of the speak N2 level some are N1.
素晴らしいインタビューですね❤
kaho is so brave and pretty, love you, fan from SG
WOW WHAT A ANGEL
Everyone's English is really good!!
Some lovely friendly people in this video.

Wonderful Heritage Wonder❤
Kaho the world needs you, 夏帆!!!
I love Kaho
Where are you Kaho, we miss you and look forward to your new vids!😎
I suggest the interviewer should not begin by asking the interviewees if they speak English because that approach would put them on the defensive consciousness as if their proficiency is being tested in public. Instead she could start by asking "may i have a small chat with you" or something like that.
Its main purpose is not to test the English of passers-by. But let everyone look at the character of the Chinese.
Wow amazing English
I think many people say they can't speak english just to avoid the interview.
只是因为我们觉得自己的发音和语法不够好😢
Interesting video. You should keep doing more videos like this, specially about languages skills of Chinese people. I found it interesting because let us see and learn a bit more about real Chinese people in the streets and not what biased Western media usually shows about China. Saludos desde Colombia.
I love this!❤ English good. 😅. My friend is from China, she not speak or understand English well. She is in California now, from Kansas.
Now I want to learn Mandarin. 😊
how did your English get so good? can't wait for your Beijing video!!!
Love 😘 China Beijing ❤️ Shanghai ❤️ Shenzhen 😘❤️💚
Wow Chinese so cute.
nice vidoes.. i flow you and i study English 😍
If you go to America and ask people if they speak a second language and most of them would say confidently, Yes I can, Uno, dos, tres.
"Hola como estas" "me llamo ****"
😂 if they from southern america I guess, or they had latin friends who taught them
taco, burrito, cilantro
😂truth
Still waiting for Kaho's new video 😔
Kaho is beautiful 😍
Happy New Year Kaho. I just wanna say you're so damn gorgeous .
Kaho chan, can you do the topic "What do Japanese girls think of Chinese guys?"
love you
some of them i was shocked because they could talk english and they sounded so good
Very impressed. Still going strong with my Italian and Chinese. One day I'll add Cantonese and German to that list.
Du möchtest Deutsch lernen, echt? 😎
forza
Cantonese is also Chinese, but you meant Mandarin?
Cantonese is a dialect of Chinese, so it is also Chinese
I like it you vedeo from India 💥
Wow. Shanghai peoples are so fashionable. I like their fashion.
ALL languages are important and FUN. There's definitely no harm in learning a foreign language or two.
We do use the word „play“ a lot 😅
It's like foreigners that can only speak a little to no Mandarin and Japanese at all. I learned Japanese from watching anime since I was a child, and studying Mandarin for eight months now 🥳🥳🥳
Something I notice from this interview is a lot of them are so fashionable. Their clothes are so nice
The first guy said he doesn't speak English yet he's answering in English 😄
お疲れ様でした。日本と上海で反応の仕方がやっぱり違いますね。話せないと言いながらも、ちゃんと質問を理解していましたし。
I suppose that the Chinese take advantage of their grammatical structure similar to English.
The truth is that we need to learn English to pass the exam from junior school until to
college and university 😂
中国語と英語を両方勉強してたら、中英の文法が似てると言わなくなりますよ~
love your videos! can we meet up when i visit shanghai??
It's also so cool to have seen with the Nintendo Switch game, Eastward, that the Shanghai Chinese developers incorporated many Japanese ideas which makes me think that Japanese culture is very popular in Shanghai
Sounds like plagiarism but okay.

This is really funny Kaho, what is the point you were trying to make tho? Neither Japanese nor Chinese can speak english? Because you are actually showing the opposite, I LOVE THIS!!
It is interesting because they actually tried to speak more english than when I see people in Tokyo being interviewed who speak almost no English at all.
young chinese speaks English very well. They might not think so but they are very good. The better the education, the better the english
Makes more sense for the Chinese to learn Japanese than English. Their countries are next to each other and would be more useful than English in that region. But, I suppose it is also good to be able to learn English as well since it is used so often around the world.
They are close to each other but they have more significant economic relationships with America and many many Chinese come to America to study.
English is more commonly used in the world, and there're a lot of young Chinese ppl can speak/understand Japanese actually
First
1:38 Interesting street interview.
I think you should buy a wireless microphone. In your case, the wireless microphone usually have a pair, so it is quite suitable for interview. They can both record your voice and the interviewer’s. 😊
Ahahahaah, I consider that maybe most of them who can speak Japanese have the same purpose as me, traveling to japan 🇯🇵,and talk with people here just like a Japanese (look same you know,Chinese and Japanese)that will be great interesting 🎉
If you go street interview nearby university it will be a different story 🎉
A Chinese doesn’t say yes unless he masters it. The same thing in a job interview. If a Chinese says yes to a field, that means he has done everything by himself. If a white says yes, that means he participated in it. If an Indian says yes, that means he heard of it. Indians never hesitate to grab the visibility.
When I lived in China for 2 years, about 10 years ago, for my multinational company, when I was out alone shopping and needed to find someone who could help me, I would find a teenager or college student. They could usually speak English well enough to help me translate. Except for at work, anyone over 40 spoke near zero English. With time, I learned numbers, food names, and places. With that limited Chinese vocabulary, and occasionally phoning a friend from work, I could pretty much go anywhere and do anything I wanted. I was actually often approached by very young children, like 10 or 12, who would greet me in English and wanted to talk, likely to practice. Their parents would often pull them away or even scold them, likely telling them not to speak with an adult foreigner. Unfortunately I often could not communicate with them that it was okay…I did not mind.
Wow, I'm actually impressed by the English level, it's comparable to Hong Kong where most of the youngsters speak it.
Kaho is trying to figure this whole thing out and she's doing well
2:08 bro said play with my friend😂
Most of them (that good in English) speak with good English accent (actually).
And where are you newer videos? What happened to you? I miss you.
可愛くて美しい、あなた
You are very beautiful....
I like Japanese english
I like Chinese English
I like Korean english
Very nice to hear....
Love from Myanmar.Due to millitary coup everything has become so harder to live for commom people like me.
Most of them kind of know a little english but since there is little chance for them to speaks more often than not, thats reason enough for them to have less confident to speak the language, kaho. Like the saying goes, practise makes perfect
Hi Kaho, will there be new content soon?
I think people would be more confident if you started speaking in mandarin and then suddenly switch to English 😅
Yes I speaking English India
That's a good woman.
中国人の方は謙虚でありながら、しっかり英語のコミュニケーションができている❤日本人の場合は日常会話さえ話せないでしょう。話せる人を探すのは大変。
