There are countless covers of this song on UA-cam. I was watching video after video of guitar covers thinking that someone would get it just right, but none were quite 100% satisfying for me; there was always something a little off (tempo, backing track, or the most egregious for me was bad guitar tone). Then I found this video, and to my surprise, I think this is the best version out there. You absolutely nailed it. Well done, and please please please make more.
Personally for me the original CPS1 theme is the best as that board just has more bass "oomph". But yes this track is in the upper echelon of versions I've ever heard. I would also recommend the assassins fist soundtrack version and the tribute album versions if you haven't heard them already.
DehnusNorder too many voices used including fm6 channel, which means either sampled sound effects or the drumtrack would need to give in. And multi channel samples like in the modern xgm format wasn't a thing yet.
Hey i rather like the megadrive soundtrack for sf2. The drums and bass are meaty and it sounds quite close to the arcade, much better than the jazzy muffled reverbe snes music
I don't think it's a coincidence that I've been recommended this on it's 7th year anniversary. God was clearly involved. Since this is so awesome, and you seem to actively upload relatively speaking, you have earned my sub. Underrated! Edit: Obligatory begging for ST Akuma theme remix. It would be a dream...
Stunning, this is really awesome... This is really incredible, the sound quality sounds really good. Wish all sega Genesis sounded with this quality...
Somebody has to do a full version of Cheap Tricks Mighty Wings Genesis sound chip. This one was Great! but I wanted to hear more from that track. awesome job tho.
I would argue the exact opposite. The SPC-700 allowed for good PCM samples since it was completely sample based, while the YM2612 allowed for uncompressed FM sound.
Yeah. There's no doubt that there are good examples of fantastic percussion in Mega Drive music as well (e.g. good usage of FM drums as heard in Tim Follin's unreleased Time Trax OST), but I would have to agree that it's the weakest point of the YM2612.
+Cubamus Prime Drums do indeed usually sound better on Genesis. SNES drums, the snares in particular, are often weak and not only weak but also BLAND. Genesis sounds better in comparison (even when using FM snares) as can be heard in many multiplats such as Fatal Fury 2, Puyo Puyo, Zool or Desert Strike. And same when comparing Hyperstone Heist vs Turtles in Time or Mega Turrican vs Super Turrican.
1. They would have to remake the song in genesis format instrument by instrument. 2. The song would not fit in a genesis cartridge with stuff like graphics and sound effects and gameplay.
Until I heard this version, I didn't realize that the track sounds a lot like "Gloria" by Umberto Tozzi, as made famous in English-speaking countries by Laura Branagan.
That depends on the sound driver used for the game, although there's only 1 PCM channel in the YM2612 chip, there're drivers that can play up to 4 samples simultaneously (at the expense of overall playback quality most of the time), so you could put this song into an actual game and not have any sfx interference at all (regarding voice sfx)
I thought the version they did in Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition was already pretty good, but this feels more ambitious, like you're aiming higher than just imitating the arcade game with robotic precision. It feels very improvisational in spots, like you're wandering off script and just jamming. You should do Cammy's theme next, because that sounded, like, so bad on the Genesis.
Ok so this is the proof that the chip of the Genesis Megadrive was able to do the same thing than the ARCADE and snes in the good hand ^^ did your stuff work on the real hardware ? are you using a tracker like Deflemask for making this ?
not that the official capcom ports music is bad its actually pretty close in parts to the original cps1 sound but its weak compared to this masterpiece in reality, Savaged Regime is just in another league.
Most likely not, since the sound driver used split the DAC channel in half (for both drums and voice samples), which compromised the quality of the voices and drums. The samples here are simply of too high quality to fit into the official SFII: SCE.
Technically they could. The Mega Drive/Genesis can play this music in-game without sacrificing any gameplay. Whether someone will hack the game and do it is another question entirely. I wish they would. In the meantime get the new game called Xeno Crisis for the Mega Drive. Savaged Regime's music sounds amazing in it.
This should be mandatory to start any gym session.
Bloody hell these drums are good
Fancy meeting you here!
Powerful Drums 😎
Those drums are how you know it’s a ym2612; so incredibly distinct and beautiful.

I would sell my soul to listen all the SF2 World Warrior music rearranged by your impeccable skills. You, sir/ma'am, are awesome.
Loving the nod to Mighty Wings at the end!
The inspiration for the red-wearing flamed-uppercutting warrior
Absolutely love the transition into Mighty Wings. Gave me goosebumps. Great work LOVE IT!
Oh my ... from time to time .. I'm back here to listen this marvelous edition
Yes, Capcom this is how it could have sounded had you not screwed it up sooo badly.
DehnusNorder too many voices used including fm6 channel, which means either sampled sound effects or the drumtrack would need to give in. And multi channel samples like in the modern xgm format wasn't a thing yet.
Ay Ay Capcom did use a multi channel PCM driver in the Genesis SF games though. Poorly programmed, yes, but still.
Hey i rather like the megadrive soundtrack for sf2. The drums and bass are meaty and it sounds quite close to the arcade, much better than the jazzy muffled reverbe snes music
I mean the beta tracks were similar to the arcade tracks
@@stephenhall2980 I think he might be talking about SSF2 on the Genesis, not Special Champion Edition.
That solo during the fade out. TEASE!
This is how SUPER Street Fighter II's BGM should sound like on the Genesis.
You'd have to use FM drums.
I don't think it's a coincidence that I've been recommended this on it's 7th year anniversary. God was clearly involved. Since this is so awesome, and you seem to actively upload relatively speaking, you have earned my sub. Underrated!

Nice Mighty Wings at the end!!!!

Como usar a fonte de som é muito bom!
O equilíbrio da fonte de som FM e PSG é o melhor!
Eu respeito você (^ - ^)
you are officially my inspiration for YM2612 music!
this sounds incredible
Honestly one of, if not the best version of this track out there.
Excellent work!
Better than the original!
+Okami McCormick™ Sounds better than the arcade.
Disagree, they're both good in their own way but the original still wins cos *_nostalgia_*
Sure, you ken.
If by original you mean the Mega Drive version then yeah. If you mean the arcade version then hell no.
@@fieldingmellish4553 don't be so assertive dude.
Oh man, If I was back in the 16 bit days I would have totally pulled out the mini-y adapter and tape recorder for this! Absolutely kickass job.
Somebody has to do a full version of Cheap Tricks Mighty Wings Genesis sound chip. This one was Great! but I wanted to hear more from that track. awesome job tho.
I LOVE that song! Now I want to see it happen too! :D
Somebody has, if you want the link I can post it
Please reupload Doom FM arrangements!
+karaffka YEAH! Please!
+karaffka Search for "E1M1 Remastered (Featuring Groovemaster303 & Circuit Bird)" on soundcloud for another great cover.
I know this comment hasn't been active for a year, but The Spoony Bard recently uploaded what you all probably want.
Genesis! Full speed ahead! 😐😟😠✊🎶🎶🎶🎶🎼⚡️💥💥🎼⚡️
Freaking awesome.
getter7sevenI notice references to Top Gun Mighty Wings in here! (only posting as a reply because i am having difficulties starting comments)
Totally agree , better than orginal one !
Ken's theme is the best of all Street fighter themes. Gets u in the mood to beat the crap out of your opponent. Shoryuken!
Now this is a proper SF2 Ken Stage cover for the Master System 2
Genesis always had the upper hand in drums etc.. Look at Streets of Rage. Amazing music.
Dat stage 1theme from streets of rage 2...
I would argue the exact opposite. The SPC-700 allowed for good PCM samples since it was completely sample based, while the YM2612 allowed for uncompressed FM sound.

Super Nintendo is a slow brick
Sounds very Lightening Force-y. Amazing remix as always!
You are a god on the YM.
Nothing short of a masterpiece!
Better than the arcade.
Ehhhhhhhh, no.
@@fieldingmellish4553 Ehhhh yes!
@@fieldingmellish4553 For me it's a yes.
I think the Arcade version could definetly be better.
Oh my GOD, the Mighty Wings section.
freaking sweet!
How are you doing these? Are you a wizard?
cool capcom!
Awesome
I don't think this could be redone any better!
+gamecomparisons Same
Ah yes yes! PERFECT! You nailed this one on the head! :D
Love it!
KEN'S MIGHTY WINGS OF FIRE! XD

0:00 Your Mighty Wings are showing. Fold those back up!
Hackers! Do your job! we need this music in the game.
1. They would have to remake the song in genesis format instrument by instrument.

@@sonc07 both of those are totally wrong.
Smashing! How many channels are you using for this rearrangement?
I really liked where that was going toward the end, I don't think I've heard any other version of Ken's Theme like that. Great work! :D
7 nintendo nerds disliked this video
FUCK this is so fucking GRAND! Fell in love with your channel as soon as I heard Methamorphic Force remix!!!
Take me on your might wings toniiiiiiiiiiiiight!
Ryu theme please!! haha
Sick stuff could I request that you do vega's theme as well ? I would love to hear the YM2612 Rearranged version of vega's theme
You should try Truth by T-Square. I think that's the most likely inspiration for Ken's theme
like 5 seconds in and i was like yep.... faved
Fuck man, you were doing some real slick syncopation on the first 10 seconds of this. Nice
Please do blanka if you havnt!

top gun fellings
Based on the SSF2TR arrangement?
Brilliant ending! You know what you're doing. :)
Wow! This is a great rearrangement of the music! Way better than the original!
Better than arcade!
This brings tears to my eyes. If crapcom only hadn't fucked up the MD CE audio driver.
Kick-ass.
Buena!
cool
Could you do Rock n Roll racing?
PERFECTO!
Love the mashup with Top Gun ost
Wow.
this sounds so good!! D:
Epic!
Outstanding. The original mix is horrendous
Does it use the same audio channels that the game running would use? I mean, if there is sfx and voices, which instruments would be muted?

it could be very good to make an ips patch do add your music to the megadrive rom
could this be done on real mega drive hardware and put in game with the sound effects? this sounds great!
You are a true genius for making the YM2612 not sound like shit. I find it hard to believe that not even the real port of SFII sounds as good as this.
What program do you use to create music using the YM2612? This is so sick.
How it feels to get a YM2612
Is it possible to put this version in the rom and play on emulators?
ken's theme but very ho-yay fitness footage with ryu.
Ok so this is the proof that the chip of the Genesis Megadrive was able to do the same thing than the ARCADE and snes in the good hand ^^ did your stuff work on the real hardware ? are you using a tracker like Deflemask for making this ?
This version sounds like the song from the Top Gun movie.
Remember, set it to 1.25x speed when someone's health gets low.
Can we get a Mighty Wings YM2612 remix? It’s just a bit of a cheap trick to pull off, honestly.
IS it possible to put this in a genesis rom of SF2CE?
please make a rom for mame with this

Needs hacked into game rom.
Please man, make a tutorial! :)
😮😮 Genesis does what Nintendon't
Could someone make a patch with this version of the song on the game?
Most likely not, since the sound driver used split the DAC channel in half (for both drums and voice samples), which compromised the quality of the voices and drums. The samples here are simply of too high quality to fit into the official SFII: SCE.

Who better?
What is the BPM? 😏
capcom never had skilled programmers at the time and they always preferred to develop on nintendo console as lead platform.
Until the 5th generation of consoles, this was true.
it could be wonderfull to inject this song into sf2 or ssf2 megadrive rom XD
Okay but this game already came out for Genesis
lol
""""""REARRANGED""""""
it sounds more like street fighter alpha themes..or SSF
i still prefer the arcade original of kens theme.of the original sf
