Rev Charles Herculean Nicks Jr on the organ, Rev Donald Raymond Vails on the piano and Rev James Edward Cleveland on lead. Such great talent and they left us too soon.
What an amazing man. The Lord used Reverend Cleveland in so many ways that the list is endless and he was always right there do his part. I know I don't know I'm old enough I'm 65 to remember when people used to kind of how should I put it whisper, hum, in other words so they're displeasure whenever Reverend Cleveland with shish the congregation or even his choir. After that old school song that he said folks should remove from the repertoire. . . My guess is they didn't mind the shushing as much. So wished I would have been blessed enough to see him in concert. My favorites change from time to time but in there you'll always find Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to me and God leads his children. Take care and have a blessed day. 😇🔆🙏
'Amazing Grace The Movie' was finally released this April 2019 (47 years), what a shame that Reverand was not here to see it, he would have been so proud! I saw it at the ArcLight (Cinerama Dome) Theater on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. Tremendous Documentary of Gospel Music, hopefully it will win an Academy Award/ Oscar.
Yes, I'm from New Orleans. My mother played organ and Albert Hadley knew my mother and my brother sung with the GSC and I remember seeing Albert and praying with him in the hospital the night before he passed. That was very hard for all of us in New Orleans and the entire GSC family. Everytime I hear or play this song, it reminds me of my mother, Albert, Normand Shepard and all those who are in Heaven, singing, preaching, etc. w/God. Thank you so much for posting. God bless you and your family.
I believe this was at the cobble hall convention center it was also featured in the 1987 film action jackson with carl wheathers i saw that film when it first came out in theaters does anybody know if cobble hall is still around or did they close it up . I remembering listening to the GMWA live in detroit debbie austin and daryl coley were amongst the many lead singers . Daryl had sung this great song that still sticks with me i will love him more and more that was part of the lyrics to the song i had a whole collection of the GMWA albums the one album that they did that always stood out to me was there 1979 album save the lost live in new Orleans if by some miricle someone can post atleast part of that live recording like they did this one it would be quite appreciated. Its just a shame that all of the live recordings of the workshop dont come with a video or dvd or arent atleast posted on youtube. As popular as the rev. James Cleveland and the GMWA convention was absolutely a darn shame and who can forget live in houston and daryl iconic he will never let you down yet no dvd its a shame that the only workshop albums that actually have a dvd are standing in the need and behind the curtain albums thats it out of the hundreds of workshop live recordings anyway thanks for posting appreciated
