A lot of these comments are about how this was sent to us by our English/Literature teachers and while that is true, I think we should take a moment to think about what these people went through, the pain, trauma and other horrible experiences that the soldiers went through.
Yatharth Rai: Ye At first I saw war as just..... Well...... a war but when I realised what happened The gas,the bombs the raids just everything just CHANGED at that moment
Back in the early 1960s, I worked with a WW1 veteran who had lost a lung to a gas attack. And idiots here make jokes. The author of that magnificent poem was killed shortly before WW1 ended on Nov 11 1918. That date, Nov 11, also happens to be my birthday. It's always a hard day on which to celebrate a birthday, while bemedalled old geezers with tears in their eyes gather to remember their fallen comrades.
Very good video but my goodness was the reading awful. "gas...GAS! An ecstasy of fumbling" was meant to be really dramatic and it felt like the reader was looking at his shopping list. "eggs, bread....butter! A quick ruffle for some change"
Wow this video help me alot. At first I was just reading the poem and I couldn't really get the images so its hard to analyze it. Thank u for making this video

@@forestdenizen6497 I agree with bluelightalarm. Shopping list is apt: "Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots" it does sound like he's reciting products. That's not to say a narrator can't sound fatigued themselves, but they ought to impart emotional inflection at the right points.
a solder who had to be sent to France to recover from mild shell shock wrote this poem about the horrors of world war two and basically try not to make the children that war really is dulce et decorum
The Crazy Pink Robot Sheep Tracey Osborne Yep, WW1. Sorry I took a year to get back to you. I didn't get a notification about your comment a year ago and only just saw this when Tracey commented. XD
My teacher told me that people in high school do plays about this but I'm in primary school in year 5 and I'm 9 years old so I hope our class makes a good impression
because that's the soldier when he's a kid, his dad tucking him in is symbolism for the medic putting the blanket over him as shroud for his eternal rest

Dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori. Europe became so weary of war that it made all of us weak, the Great War was over a hundred years ago and World War Two was over three generations ago. Now we have a new enemy, one we’re told to look upon as a friend despite their intentions. I wish we could see the world for what it is.
I love how the entire world watched this during English class
Sionnach99 omggg same
Innit
No one cares
Yh me too that’s so funny

I gotta analyze this poem as part of my final that's due today
The reading of this magnificent poem is simply appalling.
This poem changed my perspective on war.
Yatharth Rai: Ye At first I saw war as just..... Well...... a war but when I realised what happened The gas,the bombs the raids just everything just CHANGED at that moment

This changed your perspective on war, search up about the “ Iraq protest “ and lets see what you will say about it

This poem hits deep
It’s a accurate portrayal of the pain and suffering of the trenches

Wow, the animation is good but the narration is honestly horrible
No, really, it doesn't convey the bitter emotion of the poem. It sounds very monotonal.
It's everything about the narration. lol He just has a horrible voice. Everything else was great.
Exactly. He couldn't pronounce the Latin phrase either.
