It was elaborate Phishing for your personal and passport details. You would never have received any tickets. They would have asked for passport photos, passport numbers and images, address, date of birth, security question details and a credit card number to "attach to your booking”. I doubt you were in any personal danger but your details were up for cloning.

Jessica P2672 no,when to sell the view that she would have to prove her identity to collect they non existent tickets. It’s part of the process of them getting the info they want, while all the time spinning their tale of the trip. It’s how they go about scamming. Plenty of scams in ole asking for credit card details as proof of identity, when they insist that they don’t need any payment, and wind it Into their sales pitch. They use this same idea to get bank details, saying that they might need to transfer funds to you. Scamming is an elaborate game that involves using details to convince you all the while extracting info that they want.
I find it so strange that the other girls’ management didn’t look up the event and completely fell for it. Like it’s their job to make sure everything is as it should be and legit.

Luckily you found out it was a scam before it was too late. I think they wanted to collect addresses or passport information. I doubt they had money to pay for flights to New York, but you never know so better to be cautious and check like you did!!

Infinitedreams you watch too many movies. irl human traffickers do not usually go for people who are well known. criminals are not going to risk that when it’s easy to kidnap homeless women, prostitutes, children, ect. and what do you mean “could’ve wanted money in exchange”? because 1) everyone who is trafficked is sold for money. they don’t just kidnap people and give them away for free. human trafficking is a thing because of how much money they can make off of it. and 2) if you mean they were going to hold her hostage in exchange for money, then she wouldn’t have been trafficked. she woulda been a hostage.
What I find the most shocking about this story is that the managements, the people who are supposed to protect and take care of young female UA-camrs business wise, didn't realise that that e-mail was fake? I mean, it's kind of their job to notice things like this? Anyway, that's why they say you should always trust on your own intuition! Good job Soph!

I saw a video of another girl who was invited to review a resort and was told she could invite a "female friend". She couldn't find a female friend who could go, so she invited a guy friend, thinking it wasn't that big of a deal. When they got there, the people picking them up got really mad that she brought a guy and just drove off and left them at the airport. If she had brought a girl, they both would have been kidnapped.

I haven’t even heard the story, but one huge red flag that it’s fake... how did she fly a guy to the airport with her and they didn’t know until they got there to pick her up?!? I’m assuming her lavish story was they paid her to go, she would have had to given them all of the details for BOTH people traveling, they would have known it was a guy long before. People are so gullible

Slightly concerned at how is actually a really important video with a really serious message, and rather than the comments focusing on online safety, everyone is harping on about the accidental mention of a brand **WHO WERE NOT INVOLVED**. It doesn’t matter which brand it was, the scammer could have been parading as ANYTHING - the point remains that phishing is real and identity theft and human trafficking are real threats.

For everyone saying why didn’t they realize when the brand said it wasn’t their email well I can see why they were slightly confused because the brand didn’t say “this is not a real event. This is not our email. These people are not affiliated in any way” they just said “it SOUNDS fake” like how did the brand not know for sure???

I feel like they wouldn’t have actually been able to afford to fly people places so I don’t think you would’ve been taken there and taken it’s probably more a scam to get your passport info and debit cards and location etc, it’s so awful!! I remember when you first mentione dthis been here since 2k and am the exact same checking the email endings because people send so many fake emails! X

Sometimes I'm glad I have anxiety, because I notice small details that other people might miss and it actually ends up saving me or my friends. I'll usually doubt myself about it at first, but once I get a second opinion and realise I might be onto something, it's kind of a good thing at times to be so wary x

That's horrible! I know you aren't American so you probably didn't pick up on this detail, but the first red flag to me was how they formatted the dates in the original email. Americans don't say, for example, 5th of March, even in a business or professional setting. It's always the month first, so March 5th.

Scams happen to everyone,I almost got scammed in fake jobs twice,but I figured it sounded suspicious to be truth,so I googled and I found it was scams,so luckily I didn’t put fake check into my bank account
Omg I had the same thing almost happen to me when I was really young. Thankfully I knew my bank manager really well and they warned me about the scam first.
