That they kept the romance between Lan zhan and Wei wuxian and also saved it from censorship....and that last episode they did nothing but just changed the sequence of Lan zhan and Wei wuxian's scenes so cleverly in order to save it from censorship...
@Von Staufenberg .. You absolutely said what I think and feel about "The untamed".. Actually it's really magical..the form of love they showed is "SO PURE, UNCONDITIONAL and BEAUTIFUL"....actually I have never ever seen this kind of love even in Guy-girl dramas....in the process of saving it from being censored makers and actors have created a magic together I would say... One thing I want to say is that, In Wei ying's first life he actually had so much going on in his life that he had literally no time to focus on his feelings for Lan zhan but still in that cliff hanging scene he did realise that there is something special between them, you can tell by just observing how softly he says "Lan zhan"... I have a lot of things to say....3-4 scenes literally give me goose bumps... First, that hunting scene in episode 25, the way Wei ying looks at Lan zhan with a sigh of happiness when Lan zhan walks towards him. Second, in episode 21 right after that sunshot scene when Wei was feeling weak and resting in the room and the way he reacted when her Sister continuously talking about Lan zhan and when Lan zhan comes in , just look at Wei wuxian's shyness mixed with happiness and Lan zhan's relieved expression too. Third, the question Wei ying asks his elder sister about love clearly indicates that he was talking about Lan zhan because who else could it be right at that time, it was only Lan zhan who was in his opinion actually disturbing him (as he said himself "haltering one's own neck"). Forth, in the last episode.. I have no words literally to express how I felt.. Wei ying's painfully sad expression when Lan zhan refuses to follow him.. clearly shows his love and fondness for Lan zhan (he literally forgot that he would have to leave Lan zhan too after things get normal ). Fifth, that last parting scene where Lan zhan didn't stop Wei ying.. It was pretty clear from Wei ying's expression "how badly he wanted Lan zhan to stop him."......... to be continued... The whole journey of Lan zhan and Wei wuxian's relationship is absolutely magical... I just can't move on 😭😭😭😭😭.. I also didn't know anything about the novel when I watched this series but still I noticed these things easily... This is the reason that Wang yibo and Xiao zhan became so popular not only individually but also as a couple... Hats off to these two extremely talented and handsome guys..one more thing.. on 5th of August.. it's Wang Yibo's 23rd birthday day... "HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wang Yibo my Lan zhan" 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
@Von Staufenberg actually I remember each and every scene and dialogue of theirs by heart... I read the novel for some details one month ago but I prefer series..... From my understanding of Lan zhan's character.. I am saying this.. The reason that Lan zhan didn't stop Wei Ying.. First and foremost Lan zhan's love for Wei ying was absolutely selfless and unconditional.. he just wanted Wei wuxian's happiness with him or without him.... Second, in order to be by Wei's side, directly or Indirectly Lan zhan disobeyed his Uncle who has brought him up and his sect rules which they give extreme importance.. So Lan zhan had to make up for that.. Third, Lan zhan had also many responsibilities towards his uncle, brother and clan so he could not follow Wei ying... Forth, he was sure about his feelings but didn't know about Wei wuxian's feelings for him and also he knew that Wei wuxian has always hated those 3000 rules of his sect and he likes freedom so he won't choose to stay at Cloud recesses with him.. all this made Lan zhan not to stop Wei ying and Let him go... But it was so beautiful when right after leaving Wei played their song "WangXian" Indirectly confessing his feelings for Lan zhan, see that little smile on Lan zhan's face but still did not turn because Lan zhan was sure there that Wei wuxian would come to him himself and that actually happens see the expression that Wei wuxian gives in the very last episode makes it absolutely crystal clear that he was calling and is now looking at none other than his love "Lan zhan"... See that expression of relief when he heard Lan zhan's voice and turns giving a very adorably bright smile, just pause and zoom, you would see Lan zhan in Wei's eyes... So beautiful 🤗🤗🤗😍😍😍😍

I liked this discussion with you...one more thing did you notice that the paper Wei ying in episode 40 while teasing Lan zhan he also threw a direct flying kiss towards Lan zhan... That's kinda shocking (happily) actually because I didn't expect that makers would show something like this directly... But I realised that very few people noticed that...
I only noticed NHS behind that curtain after watching the second time, it’s like he paid that man to tell stories about WWX in that place as a way to call his spirit or something like that, because if you notice, when the man hits the podium where he’s behind, it’s like the spirit had arrived, even that flag flying to MXY’s door was like a sign.

@@dramaobsession6619 No, Xiao zhan had quite a lot of experience of acting especially in costume dramas as he already has had worked in many costume dramas but not as a lead he himself told this in an interview and I also have checked out some of his roles played in costume dramas before "the untamed". But almost all other actors including Wang Yibo didn't have experience of acting especially in costume dramas... Actually costume dramas are very different from other dramas and more difficult than others...but seriously they all have done a really really really fantastic job... 👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

This was so fun to watch, I first read the novel around 2016 so I sadly wasn't able to watch The Untamed completely unaware of the plot line, but I still enjoyed listening to you explain things that had been confusing others!! I was also really happy to hear someone who could actually pronounce the Chinese names, a lot of people struggle with correct pronunciation and tones which I totally understand, but it's nice to hear them said properly 😂😂
It's my belief that the scene with Wei Ying and Lan Zhan at Cloud Recess waterfall standing on the ledge was suppose to be the ending shot, but due to censorship issues and not wanting to make them appear as an official couple was changed to the alternate scene instead. They look like a loving couple in the waterfall scene, Lan Zhan is smiling as the camera pans away from them. All the scenes that followed after seems out of sequence.

The book is a great read! It is a little different from the show though - Weiying has a slightly different character in the book - more playful and reckless I think.
Actually I feel in order to make it short makers skipped the details of some scenes and character too... So by reading novel things become more clearer...

My main question was why Wei Ying never used his snap freeze powers and why wen chao didn't use his fire choke powers after the like first few episodes
My theory is that the snap freeze only works on non-cultivators, that is on puppets (that aren't controlled by someone else, which is why it doesn't last long in Yi city) or ordinary people. We don't ever see him opposed by ordinary folk again. I have no idea on the fire choke, which he might have used in the indoctrination or Xuanwu cave ... again, perhaps it only works on unprepared or un-powerful people? It's not an ability he displays in the novel.
@@douglasoctet5366 I know your comment is old - but Wei Ying actually used his "snap freeze" power on Lan Zhan in one of the first episodes. So it's not like it works only on ordinary people. One explanation could be that he could use that power on other cultivators only when he was a cultivator with a golden core himself, even though in that case he still could have used it more before he lost his golden core. The other explanation is that the authors of the show (I don't know whether Wei Wuxian ever used that power in the novel) simply forgot all about it after the first episodes, like it so often happens in movies/TV series 😂.
Cool vid ^-^ But I thought the outfit Wei Ying was wearing on the cliff at the end was an overcoat of some sort (?) It looks like he's wearing the same belt and Lil Apple is harnessed in the same way. It doesn't really matter since either way leads to the same ending, but after 16 years of waiting, it'd be nice if Lan Zhan didn't have to wait anymore lol Especially since he's technically pushing 40 at the end of the story. I always wondered about that too, because it seems that cultivators don't age the same as mundane ppl (?) IE: Baoshan Sanren was a peer of Wen Mao (the founder of the Wen sect?) so the more powerful (?) they are, the less they show their age...or something along those lines. The goal is to get to the 'top' and become an immortal, right? Which means in a best case scenario, they both achieve immortality and literally live happily ever after! ^_^ As for the rewrite, the original story was so beautifully altered there isn't any feeling of disappointment over the changes at all. I've loved every version of the story, though I'd love to read an official English translation of the book. This story is just so entertaining and the cast for the live action was so very well chosen and directed it's very easy to enjoy. The rapport between Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan irl added so much to the live action. It's so important for the leads of a show to have good chemistry and theirs was just off the charts, so when coupled with an amazing adaptation and brilliant direction it's no wonder it set the world on fire. I honestly believe they all did an exemplary job from the incomparable team of Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo to the kid who played Ah Yuan and the actress who played Bobo. (I can't find their names right now, but they were both brilliant). Unfortunately, it'd be too much to list all the things I loved about everyone that starred in this, but I will say that Xiao Zhan is amazing on so many levels from his dedication to the portrayal of his character to bringing a positive, playful and professional attitude to the set. Wang Yibo as well, and my god, would it be insanely difficult to wake up one morning and find that all you had to communicate with the world was micro expressions? How he brought together a fully developed and deeply emotional character with just the subtle movement of his eyes is just incredible. He had to speak to us through his posture, the supple opening of his mouth or the clever angle of his gaze. Everyone seems to feel they understand and know Lan Wanji on a very intimate level and that is because Wang Yibo did such an amazing job of presenting him. Honestly, I am soooo glad that Nei Huaisang was on our side! Man, what a scary guy! lol Ji Li was perfect for this role because he could so easily play the fool, but when he switched to being serious it was totally believable. I'd like to see him in a more serious role sometime. I get the naming thing, but you're discussion brought up a question in my mind. I noticed that both Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan had different names when they were young (according to Wikipedia) so I wondered at what age would their names have changed? And who chooses the new name? Major spoilers follow: I do want to point out one thing about the book here though. For anyone who hasn't read it and wants to know, Lan Zhan was in love with Wei Ying pretty much from the start, which is why he reacted so strongly to him. He didn't accept his feelings for a long time, probably not until they killed the tortoise, but he was attracted to him from the start. There is confirmation of this in the extra chapters of the book, and that whole bit in the series where Lan Zhan squeezes Bichen any time Wei Ying crosses his mind, the way he steps away from him whenever he tries to get close, makes sure he's never undressed around him, and how he always looks away grumpily whenever Wei Ying is engaged with someone else (particularly a girl), are all very deliberate indications that Lan Zhan is fighting with feelings he doesn't understand or want to accept. Lan Xichen is onto them from the start though, and openly (as well as obviously) encourages the match. I believe it's clear that he understands his brother on a level that no one else can comprehend, hence his ability to tell what he's thinking or feeling even when he's trying to hide it, so the idea that he wouldn't be aware of Lan Zhan's alternate sexuality is pretty unreasonable in my mind. I believe Wei Ying is aware of his feelings from the start too, but he doesn't seem willing to allow his desires to manifest in a way that he would feel disrespects Lan Zhan, hence his reluctance to push things any further than teasing him until close to the end when Lan Zhan has revealed through his actions (mostly when he's drunk lol) that he loves Wei Ying quite unconditionally. In the book, this is when Wei Ying starts to slip up and actually give into his desires, but he still doesn't get it until Lan Xichen finally gets pissed and flat out tells him. lol This is just food for thought because I haven't seen anyone talk about it.

He did so many things for Wei Ying unconditionally and without seeking anything in return. At the end of the book, it was so hard for him to believe that it was true that Wei Ying actually loved him as well. Every time Wei Ying said think you he would become upset because he felt like that was a sign that Wei Ying didn't consider him as someone he was close to. Ahhhh.. I could go on about Lanzhan!
Wei Ying was actually interested in Lan Zhan in a friendly way in the past, Wei Ying was a bit too carefree to think about love overall, you could say his feelings developed over time but not at the same time as Lan Zhan

For the second question I hadn't realized it until I saw a comment, but between the two scenes WWX is wearing different clothes, the first has round designs maybe clouds or something and his sleeves are bound at the wrists, while in the last scene it's more of a striped/zebra pattern and his sleeves are falling loose. Speaking of Nie Huai Sang ... a shot I missed the first time around ... when Jiang Cheng leaves the mountaintop about having his golden core restored, there's a shot of a person watching him as he walks down the road. I wasn't sure who that was, but the clothing appears to be Nie Huai Sang's. It doesn't appear to be Wen Qing or her brother's. If so, does it mean Huai Sang knew about the golden core? Anyone else still trying to figure this one out?

I think his body decomposed when he died. His spirit/soul survived which is why he was able to be resurrected to live in Mo Xuan Yu's body. I know that in the drama they use the same actor for Wei YIng and Mo Xuan Yu but in the novel he's supposed to look completely different (but still hot LOL).
Actually makers have done so many experiments with this series but everything they experimented, turned out as improvisations and result we all are addicted to this amazing series.

In the live-action, when he fell his body was destroyed due to the backlash from destroying the Stygian Tiger Amulet. It wasn't really specified in the series but Wei WuXian did say to Wen Ning that it was because of the backlash. I know this is too late but...
The romance between Wuxian and Wangji is so vague like I had to be a whole ass detective just to find hints about it and then there's Xue Yang and Xichen having an out and proud gay storyline with flashbacks and moments explaining how he fell in love and shit like wtf. That one episode had more gayness than the whole show combined.
Xue Yang and Xichen are more like gratefulness towards the kindness. Probably more like a brotherly or father figure to Xue Yang. The only person in the world who really wanted him to be good and being sincerely kind to him. It's different.

my take on the ending is lan Z changed his mind and decided to go with wei cause he said I'm way ahead of you which means he turned around headed In same direction as wei and called out his name. I wasn't aware that some time has past and Wei returned back to cloud recesses or his clothes looked different I have to see the ending again

These should actually be the questions: 1. How does the She Shen curse actually work? And how can Wei Ying’s body be preserved for 16 years? Where was it preserved? How come nobody found it? Was he moved by Mo from the get go or what? The drama says the She Shen curse supposedly cures somebody who is deeply wounded. So does this mean Wei was never dead? Then how can he just not die from that fall down into the fires? 2. What are the actual vulnerabilities rule of these clan people? Are they semi-immortals that don’t age much? In the drama there were times when they’ve been stabbed in so many fatal spots but just don’t die, how does that work exactly? When can they die and when are they just totally ok? 3. Speaking of the above, how can Song Lan survive that huge sword stab from Xiao Xingchen? Recall that wen ning survived by Wei’s humongous efforts to revive him and his own consciousness over period of months. But Song is just totally ok after his mind nails are out? What? He also doesn’t look like he stayed a zombie like Wen Ning he just looked normal. 4. What actually happened between Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen anyways? How did Song managed to lose his eyes and Xiao Xingchen was made to give him his was never really fully explained. 5. How did that Yin Tie sword just magically appear out of nowhere in Luan Zang Gang? And didn’t Wei have the sword with him when he came out of that cave with Lan Zhan? Did the sword just magically disappeared or what? 6. How does the golden core actually work? Do you have it from practicing KungFu magic or were you born with it if you are of one of these clans? If the latter is true, why not capture somebody from the Wen clan to force him switch the golden core rather than Wei doing it himself? I’m sure between death and golden core somebody would be willing to give up the golden core. 7. From above, how does losing the golden core really affect you? So you can’t practice sword KungFu magic anymore but anything else you can do? This sounds kind of lazy writing. It also seems that Wei can do basic KungFu, even sword ones without his golden core such as he can somehow still levitate and fly completely fine. Okay if that’s the case even if he’s just won’t be as good as before or he can’t sustain it for long that’s still better than nothing, so the whole thing with him not carrying his sword at all makes zero sense. He clearly CAN still defend himself using the sword to a great extend. This is shown many times that he used the flute as a fighting weapon not just to play it. Well a sword would at least have the advantage of cutting the enemy over a flute. I think it would’ve been much better storytelling if let’s say Wei can’t even hold his sword anymore because of losing his core, but that clearly wasn’t the case in the drama. 8. Even more adding to the above: how does being resurrected by Mo change his physical make up? Does he now have Mo’s golden core or no? How does his power now change? Because he then suddenly seem to be able to fight with his sword perfectly fine after resurrection, but his flute summoning ability was greatly diminished (and I’m supposing this is because he doesn’t have Yin Hu Fu to juice up his power).
I didn't watch the drama yet so I don't know how things went in that drama but for the novel I can answer the fourth question. Xue yang was the one who poisoned song lan eyes and made him blind ( and also destroyed the baixue temple) and xiao xingchen took song lan to his teacher Baoshan sanren to save him and gives his eyes to song lan

for the second question I don't think there seems to be any qualifications to be a discipline of any sects.... It's just you train your body and mind for things( I guess) and it's of a more cliché that no one dies even with bad injuryes.
For the third question song lan did die and his crops was under the control of xue yang and nails are used to make the corps unconscious ( I think) so by romovings nails they become conscious again and why it was easy for song lan was because wie ying was the first one to make a died crops regain consciousness who was wen Ning ofc ( if one does it , it's easy for other to follow the same) and the resone why song lan don't look like a zombie ( unlike wen ling) was because song lan was made into the conscious crops right after he died( by xue yang) while it took longer for wen Ning
Something that I wish could be explained was how exactly was the 3 yin metals that Wen Ruohan had destroyed so easily when their ancestors from back then couldn't and just merely hid the fragments apart. The show never talked about it and I haven't read the novel but heard that it was a combination of Lan Xichen's flute and Nie Mingjue's blade in combination that destroyed it. It kind of feels like it is too simple. Maybe there is an explanation about it in the novel.
Wish I could say, but the yin iron was made up for the show, which didn't explain it. 🤷🏻♀️ But you should definitely read the book. As much as I enjoy the show, the book is superior.

I finished watching the drama just now and I got one thing... The show did hinted that Nie Huaisang was behind the plot all these days... How? In ep 50, when Lan Zhan and Wei Ying meets Nie Huaisang who says "Gusu Lan had added thousand another rules", notice that Wei Ying was interrogating him the same way he always did to those who he suspected(like that monk in 47 ep). When Nie Huaisang turned back he again asked him another question...Noticed? Now... why did Lan Zhan ask him that why didn't he ask Huaisang? And why then only Wei Ying tells, " Ask him what? Who sent the girls to Lotus Cove? Who placed the blade in Mo's manor?" ... See..Wei Ying is hinting that it was Huaisang only... Don't tell me that this scene was a coincidence.. It wasn't .. Definitely

The last shard was with Xue Yang, that is why he was kept alive and was protected by Jin GuangShan and Jin GuangYao because he was capable of making it into the stygian tiger amulet but sadly, he wasn't as capable as Wei WuXian so he was only able to make it with half of its power compared to the one Wei WuXian made.
It was revealed later that wwx didn't know Lan Zhan composed the song. He asked for the song title thinking Lan Zhan just sang a song he heard somewhere, he knew as soon as Lan Zhan told him.
Maybe its only me, but even watching the untamed 3 times and the anime twice I still do not clearly get how wei ying died......?what happened in the siege of burial mountains?? Anyone to enlighten?? haha
Yep a bit confusing but here is what I think. Lan zhan was taking care of wwx but after his fight with hus uncle and others from cloud reccess he was taken back. With no person go care for in such mad condition wwx just died. And this makes me so said he died alone, lan zhan didnt even get to see him awake. My heart !!
In the live-action, Wei WuXian died due to the backlash from destroying the Stygian Tiger Amulet. This was when he fell in the cliff at the Nightless City. In the novel, after witnessing the death of YanLi, Wei WuXian got consumed by anger and grief and so he made the evil spirits/corpses into killing spree which resulted into bloodbath. Even the sect leaders and other elite cultivators are heavily wounded. (After resurrections, this is where the memory of Wei WuXian got cut, he only remembers until this part). Wei WuXian also got heavily wounded as well as Lan WangJi. When WangJi saw how bad the condition of Wei WuXian is, he did everything he could to take him back to the Burial Mounds. After taking him back to the Burial Mounds (Wei WuXian couldn't think properly anymore, as I've mentioned he was consumed by anger and grief), WangJi kept on transferring spiritual energy to Wei WuXian but Wei WuXian kept on pushing him away and he kept on repeating "Get lost" but WangJi still kept on transferring spiritual energy (Which is useless BTW). Lan XiChen and Lan QiRen saw that WangJi was taking Wei WuXian to the Burial Mounds and so they sent 33 elders (cultivator) from GusuLan Sect in order to take WanJi back to Cloud Recesses. WangJi injured the 33 elders to protect Wei WuXian (that's why he was whipped 33 times). the details are in the nove. My reply is too late, you probably have read the novel by now but still hahahahaha

This show trolled you so much with the hinted at romance. In the final episode where Lan Zhan goes to Wei Wuxian, I have something to tell you. And of course probably all the viewers mind goes, oh this is where he should be confessing his love. But instead it's like, oh by the way he saved Yuan all those years ago. I do give the actors credit because Lan Zhan especially mastered the eye f*ck between them, and if they couldn't do the real thing on screen at least they had that, lol.
Back in the Mo's Manor, when Wei WuXian commanded those corpses, Wen Ning heard his voice as well. Wen Ning was still kept in prison by Jin GuangYao at that time. When he heard Wei WuXian's voice, he immediately did his best to escape and search for Wei WuXian. But then after that, he didn't hear from Wei WuXian again. (Because of the skull piercing nails, Wen Ning can't see) After he escaped, he searched for Wei WuXian but he didn't hear his voice again. Until Wei WuXian played the flute in the Dafan Mountain.

Actually it's really magical..the form of love they showed is "SO PURE, UNCONDITIONAL and BEAUTIFUL"....actually I have never ever seen this kind of love even in Guy-girl dramas....in the process of saving it from being censored makers and actors have created a magic together I would say... One thing I want to say is that, In Wei ying's first life he actually had so much going on in his life that he had literally no time to focus on his feelings for Lan zhan but still in that cliff hanging scene he did realise that there is something special between them, you can tell by just observing how softly he says "Lan zhan"... I have a lot of things to say....3-4 scenes literally give me goose bumps... First, that hunting scene in episode 25, the way Wei ying looks at Lan zhan with a sigh of happiness when Lan zhan walks towards him. Second, in episode 21 right after that sunshot scene when Wei was feeling weak and resting in the room and the way he reacted when her Sister continuously talking about Lan zhan and when Lan zhan comes in , just look at Wei wuxian's shyness mixed with happiness and Lan zhan's relieved expression too. Third, the question Wei ying asks his elder sister about love clearly indicates that he was talking about Lan zhan because who else could it be right at that time, it was only Lan zhan who was in his opinion actually disturbing him (as he said himself "haltering one's own neck"). Forth, in the last episode.. I have no words literally to express how I felt.. Wei ying's painfully sad expression when Lan zhan refuses to follow him.. clearly shows his love and fondness for Lan zhan (he literally forgot that he would have to leave Lan zhan too after things get normal ). Fifth, that last parting scene where Lan zhan didn't stop Wei ying.. It was pretty clear from Wei ying's expression "how badly he wanted Lan zhan to stop him."......... to be continued...
The whole journey of Lan zhan and Wei wuxian's relationship is absolutely magical... I just can't move on 😭😭😭😭😭.. I also didn't know anything about the novel when I watched this series but still I noticed these things easily... This is the reason that Wang yibo and Xiao zhan became so popular not only individually but also as a couple... From my understanding of Lan zhan's character.. I am saying this.. The reason that Lan zhan didn't stop Wei Ying.. First and foremost Lan zhan's love for Wei ying was absolutely selfless and unconditional.. he just wanted Wei wuxian's happiness with him or without him.... Second, in order to be by Wei's side, directly or Indirectly Lan zhan disobeyed his Uncle who has brought him up and his sect rules which they give extreme importance.. So Lan zhan had to make up for that.. Third, Lan zhan had also many responsibilities towards his uncle, brother and clan so he could not follow Wei ying... Forth, he was sure about his feelings but didn't know about Wei wuxian's feelings for him and also he knew that Wei wuxian has always hated those 3000 rules of his sect and he likes freedom so he won't choose to stay at Cloud recesses with him.. all this made Lan zhan not to stop Wei ying and Let him go... But it was so beautiful when right after leaving Wei played their song "WangXian" Indirectly confessing his feelings for Lan zhan, see that little smile on Lan zhan's face but still did not turn because Lan zhan was sure there that Wei wuxian would come to him himself and that actually happens see the expression that Wei wuxian gives in the very last episode makes it absolutely crystal clear that he was calling and is now looking at none other than his love "Lan zhan"... @@dramaobsession6619 No, Xiao zhan had quite a lot of experience of acting especially in costume dramas as he already has had worked in many costume dramas but not as a lead he himself told this in an interview and I also have checked out some of his roles played in costume dramas before "the untamed". But almost all other actors including Wang Yibo didn't have experience of acting especially in costume dramas... Actually costume dramas are very different from other dramas and more difficult than others...but seriously they all have done a really really really fantastic job... 👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

This was so fun to watch, I first read the novel around 2016 so I sadly wasn't able to watch The Untamed completely unaware of the plot line, but I still enjoyed listening to you explain things that had been confusing others!! I was also really happy to hear someone who could actually pronounce the Chinese names, a lot of people struggle with correct pronunciation and tones which I totally understand, but it's nice to hear them said properly 😂😂

It's my belief that the scene with Wei Ying and Lan Zhan at Cloud Recess waterfall standing on the ledge was suppose to be the ending shot, but due to censorship issues and not wanting to make them appear as an official couple was changed to the alternate scene instead. They look like a loving couple in the waterfall scene, Lan Zhan is smiling as the camera pans away from them. All the scenes that followed after seems out of sequence.

The book is a great read! It is a little different from the show though - Weiying has a slightly different character in the book - more playful and reckless I think.

My theory is that the snap freeze only works on non-cultivators, that is on puppets (that aren't controlled by someone else, which is why it doesn't last long in Yi city) or ordinary people. We don't ever see him opposed by ordinary folk again. I have no idea on the fire choke, which he might have used in the indoctrination or Xuanwu cave ... again, perhaps it only works on unprepared or un-powerful people? It's not an ability he displays in the novel.
@@douglasoctet5366 I know your comment is old - but Wei Ying actually used his "snap freeze" power on Lan Zhan in one of the first episodes. So it's not like it works only on ordinary people. One explanation could be that he could use that power on other cultivators only when he was a cultivator with a golden core himself, even though in that case he still could have used it more before he lost his golden core. The other explanation is that the authors of the show (I don't know whether Wei Wuxian ever used that power in the novel) simply forgot all about it after the first episodes, like it so often happens in movies/TV series 😂.
Cool vid ^-^ But I thought the outfit Wei Ying was wearing on the cliff at the end was an overcoat of some sort (?) It looks like he's wearing the same belt and Lil Apple is harnessed in the same way. It doesn't really matter since either way leads to the same ending, but after 16 years of waiting, it'd be nice if Lan Zhan didn't have to wait anymore lol Especially since he's technically pushing 40 at the end of the story. I always wondered about that too, because it seems that cultivators don't age the same as mundane ppl (?) IE: Baoshan Sanren was a peer of Wen Mao (the founder of the Wen sect?) so the more powerful (?) they are, the less they show their age...or something along those lines. The goal is to get to the 'top' and become an immortal, right? Which means in a best case scenario, they both achieve immortality and literally live happily ever after! ^_^
As for the rewrite, the original story was so beautifully altered there isn't any feeling of disappointment over the changes at all. I've loved every version of the story, though I'd love to read an official English translation of the book. This story is just so entertaining and the cast for the live action was so very well chosen and directed it's very easy to enjoy. The rapport between Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan irl added so much to the live action. It's so important for the leads of a show to have good chemistry and theirs was just off the charts, so when coupled with an amazing adaptation and brilliant direction it's no wonder it set the world on fire. I honestly believe they all did an exemplary job from the incomparable team of Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo to the kid who played Ah Yuan and the actress who played Bobo. (I can't find their names right now, but they were both brilliant).
Unfortunately, it'd be too much to list all the things I loved about everyone that starred in this, but I will say that Xiao Zhan is amazing on so many levels from his dedication to the portrayal of his character to bringing a positive, playful and professional attitude to the set. Wang Yibo as well, and my god, would it be insanely difficult to wake up one morning and find that all you had to communicate with the world was micro expressions? How he brought together a fully developed and deeply emotional character with just the subtle movement of his eyes is just incredible. He had to speak to us through his posture, the supple opening of his mouth or the clever angle of his gaze. Everyone seems to feel they understand and know Lan Wanji on a very intimate level and that is because Wang Yibo did such an amazing job of presenting him.
Honestly, I am soooo glad that Nei Huaisang was on our side! Man, what a scary guy! lol Ji Li was perfect for this role because he could so easily play the fool, but when he switched to being serious it was totally believable. I'd like to see him in a more serious role sometime.
I get the naming thing, but you're discussion brought up a question in my mind. I noticed that both Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan had different names when they were young (according to Wikipedia) so I wondered at what age would their names have changed? And who chooses the new name?
Major spoilers follow:
I do want to point out one thing about the book here though. For anyone who hasn't read it and wants to know, Lan Zhan was in love with Wei Ying pretty much from the start, which is why he reacted so strongly to him. He didn't accept his feelings for a long time, probably not until they killed the tortoise, but he was attracted to him from the start. There is confirmation of this in the extra chapters of the book, and that whole bit in the series where Lan Zhan squeezes Bichen any time Wei Ying crosses his mind, the way he steps away from him whenever he tries to get close, makes sure he's never undressed around him, and how he always looks away grumpily whenever Wei Ying is engaged with someone else (particularly a girl), are all very deliberate indications that Lan Zhan is fighting with feelings he doesn't understand or want to accept. Lan Xichen is onto them from the start though, and openly (as well as obviously) encourages the match. I believe it's clear that he understands his brother on a level that no one else can comprehend, hence his ability to tell what he's thinking or feeling even when he's trying to hide it, so the idea that he wouldn't be aware of Lan Zhan's alternate sexuality is pretty unreasonable in my mind. I believe Wei Ying is aware of his feelings from the start too, but he doesn't seem willing to allow his desires to manifest in a way that he would feel disrespects Lan Zhan, hence his reluctance to push things any further than teasing him until close to the end when Lan Zhan has revealed through his actions (mostly when he's drunk lol) that he loves Wei Ying quite unconditionally. In the book, this is when Wei Ying starts to slip up and actually give into his desires, but he still doesn't get it until Lan Xichen finally gets pissed and flat out tells him. lol This is just food for thought because I haven't seen anyone talk about it.
Both the actors have done a commendable job .. Their chemistry is just something else... 👏👏👏👏

He did so many things for Wei Ying unconditionally and without seeking anything in return. At the end of the book, it was so hard for him to believe that it was true that Wei Ying actually loved him as well. Every time Wei Ying said think you he would become upset because he felt like that was a sign that Wei Ying didn't consider him as someone he was close to. Ahhhh.. I could go on about Lanzhan!

Wei Ying was actually interested in Lan Zhan in a friendly way in the past, Wei Ying was a bit too carefree to think about love overall, you could say his feelings developed over time but not at the same time as Lan Zhan

Speaking of Nie Huai Sang ... a shot I missed the first time around ... when Jiang Cheng leaves the mountaintop about having his golden core restored, there's a shot of a person watching him as he walks down the road. I wasn't sure who that was, but the clothing appears to be Nie Huai Sang's. It doesn't appear to be Wen Qing or her brother's. If so, does it mean Huai Sang knew about the golden core? Anyone else still trying to figure this one out?

I think his body decomposed when he died. His spirit/soul survived which is why he was able to be resurrected to live in Mo Xuan Yu's body. I know that in the drama they use the same actor for Wei YIng and Mo Xuan Yu but in the novel he's supposed to look completely different (but still hot LOL).
Actually makers have done so many experiments with this series but everything they experimented, turned out as improvisations and result we all are addicted to this amazing series.

In the live-action, when he fell his body was destroyed due to the backlash from destroying the Stygian Tiger Amulet. It wasn't really specified in the series but Wei WuXian did say to Wen Ning that it was because of the backlash. I know this is too late but...
The romance between Wuxian and Wangji is so vague like I had to be a whole ass detective just to find hints about it and then there's Xue Yang and Xichen having an out and proud gay storyline with flashbacks and moments explaining how he fell in love and shit like wtf. That one episode had more gayness than the whole show combined.
Xue Yang and Xichen are more like gratefulness towards the kindness. Probably more like a brotherly or father figure to Xue Yang. The only person in the world who really wanted him to be good and being sincerely kind to him.

my take on the ending is lan Z changed his mind and decided to go with wei cause he said I'm way ahead of you which means he turned around headed In same direction as wei and called out his name. I wasn't aware that some time has past and Wei returned back to cloud recesses or his clothes looked different I have to see the ending again

These should actually be the questions:
1. How does the She Shen curse actually work? And how can Wei Ying’s body be preserved for 16 years? Where was it preserved? How come nobody found it? Was he moved by Mo from the get go or what? The drama says the She Shen curse supposedly cures somebody who is deeply wounded. So does this mean Wei was never dead? Then how can he just not die from that fall down into the fires?
2. What are the actual vulnerabilities rule of these clan people? Are they semi-immortals that don’t age much? In the drama there were times when they’ve been stabbed in so many fatal spots but just don’t die, how does that work exactly? When can they die and when are they just totally ok?
3. Speaking of the above, how can Song Lan survive that huge sword stab from Xiao Xingchen? Recall that wen ning survived by Wei’s humongous efforts to revive him and his own consciousness over period of months. But Song is just totally ok after his mind nails are out? What? He also doesn’t look like he stayed a zombie like Wen Ning he just looked normal.
4. What actually happened between Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen anyways? How did Song managed to lose his eyes and Xiao Xingchen was made to give him his was never really fully explained.
5. How did that Yin Tie sword just magically appear out of nowhere in Luan Zang Gang? And didn’t Wei have the sword with him when he came out of that cave with Lan Zhan? Did the sword just magically disappeared or what?
6. How does the golden core actually work? Do you have it from practicing KungFu magic or were you born with it if you are of one of these clans? If the latter is true, why not capture somebody from the Wen clan to force him switch the golden core rather than Wei doing it himself? I’m sure between death and golden core somebody would be willing to give up the golden core.
7. From above, how does losing the golden core really affect you? So you can’t practice sword KungFu magic anymore but anything else you can do? This sounds kind of lazy writing. It also seems that Wei can do basic KungFu, even sword ones without his golden core such as he can somehow still levitate and fly completely fine. Okay if that’s the case even if he’s just won’t be as good as before or he can’t sustain it for long that’s still better than nothing, so the whole thing with him not carrying his sword at all makes zero sense. He clearly CAN still defend himself using the sword to a great extend. This is shown many times that he used the flute as a fighting weapon not just to play it. Well a sword would at least have the advantage of cutting the enemy over a flute. I think it would’ve been much better storytelling if let’s say Wei can’t even hold his sword anymore because of losing his core, but that clearly wasn’t the case in the drama.
8. Even more adding to the above: how does being resurrected by Mo change his physical make up? Does he now have Mo’s golden core or no? How does his power now change? Because he then suddenly seem to be able to fight with his sword perfectly fine after resurrection, but his flute summoning ability was greatly diminished (and I’m supposing this is because he doesn’t have Yin Hu Fu to juice up his power).
I didn't watch the drama yet so I don't know how things went in that drama but for the novel I can answer the fourth question.
Xue yang was the one who poisoned song lan eyes and made him blind ( and also destroyed the baixue temple) and xiao xingchen took song lan to his teacher Baoshan sanren to save him and gives his eyes to song lan

I don't think there seems to be any qualifications to be a discipline of any sects.... It's just you train your body and mind for things( I guess) and it's of a more cliché that no one dies even with bad injuryes.
For the third question
song lan did die and his crops was under the control of xue yang and nails are used to make the corps unconscious ( I think) so by romovings nails they become conscious again and why it was easy for song lan was because wie ying was the first one to make a died crops regain consciousness who was wen Ning ofc ( if one does it , it's easy for other to follow the same) and the resone why song lan don't look like a zombie ( unlike wen ling) was because song lan was made into the conscious crops right after he died( by xue yang) while it took longer for wen Ning
Something that I wish could be explained was how exactly was the 3 yin metals that Wen Ruohan had destroyed so easily when their ancestors from back then couldn't and just merely hid the fragments apart. The show never talked about it and I haven't read the novel but heard that it was a combination of Lan Xichen's flute and Nie Mingjue's blade in combination that destroyed it. It kind of feels like it is too simple. Maybe there is an explanation about it in the novel.
Wish I could say, but the yin iron was made up for the show, which didn't explain it. 🤷🏻♀️ But you should definitely read the book. As much as I enjoy the show, the book is superior.
I still want to know why WWX dropped his belt in Cloud Recess,that time he was drinking Emperor's Smile outside Lan Zhan's Jingshi. Or is it an innuendo like the chicken scene?

I finished watching the drama just now and I got one thing... The show did hinted that Nie Huaisang was behind the plot all these days... How? In ep 50, when Lan Zhan and Wei Ying meets Nie Huaisang who says "Gusu Lan had added thousand another rules", notice that Wei Ying was interrogating him the same way he always did to those who he suspected(like that monk in 47 ep). When Nie Huaisang turned back he again asked him another question...Noticed? Now... why did Lan Zhan ask him that why didn't he ask Huaisang? And why then only Wei Ying tells, " Ask him what? Who sent the girls to Lotus Cove? Who placed the blade in Mo's manor?" ... See..Wei Ying is hinting that it was Huaisang only... Don't tell me that this scene was a coincidence.. It wasn't .. Definitely

Where was the last part of the Yin Iron? They never cleared that up
The last shard was with Xue Yang, that is why he was kept alive and was protected by Jin GuangShan and Jin GuangYao because he was capable of making it into the stygian tiger amulet but sadly, he wasn't as capable as Wei WuXian so he was only able to make it with half of its power compared to the one Wei WuXian made.
And Wei Ying ask how lan zhan recognized him like HAHAHA WEI YINV, YOU CAN U BE SO SMART YET SOOOO NEGLECTFUL HAHAHA
It was revealed later that wwx didn't know Lan Zhan composed the song. He asked for the song title thinking Lan Zhan just sang a song he heard somewhere, he knew as soon as Lan Zhan told him.

Yep a bit confusing but here is what I think. Lan zhan was taking care of wwx but after his fight with hus uncle and others from cloud reccess he was taken back. With no person go care for in such mad condition wwx just died. And this makes me so said he died alone, lan zhan didnt even get to see him awake. My heart !!
In the live-action, Wei WuXian died due to the backlash from destroying the Stygian Tiger Amulet. This was when he fell in the cliff at the Nightless City. In the novel, after witnessing the death of YanLi, Wei WuXian got consumed by anger and grief and so he made the evil spirits/corpses into killing spree which resulted into bloodbath. Even the sect leaders and other elite cultivators are heavily wounded. (After resurrections, this is where the memory of Wei WuXian got cut, he only remembers until this part). Wei WuXian also got heavily wounded as well as Lan WangJi. When WangJi saw how bad the condition of Wei WuXian is, he did everything he could to take him back to the Burial Mounds. After taking him back to the Burial Mounds (Wei WuXian couldn't think properly anymore, as I've mentioned he was consumed by anger and grief), WangJi kept on transferring spiritual energy to Wei WuXian but Wei WuXian kept on pushing him away and he kept on repeating "Get lost" but WangJi still kept on transferring spiritual energy (Which is useless BTW). Lan XiChen and Lan QiRen saw that WangJi was taking Wei WuXian to the Burial Mounds and so they sent 33 elders (cultivator) from GusuLan Sect in order to take WanJi back to Cloud Recesses. WangJi injured the 33 elders to protect Wei WuXian (that's why he was whipped 33 times). the details are in the nove. My reply is too late, you probably have read the novel by now but still hahahahaha

This show trolled you so much with the hinted at romance. In the final episode where Lan Zhan goes to Wei Wuxian, I have something to tell you. And of course probably all the viewers mind goes, oh this is where he should be confessing his love. But instead it's like, oh by the way he saved Yuan all those years ago. I do give the actors credit because Lan Zhan especially mastered the eye f*ck between them, and if they couldn't do the real thing on screen at least they had that, lol.

When he heard Wei WuXian's voice, he immediately did his best to escape and search for Wei WuXian. But then after that, he didn't hear from Wei WuXian again.
