Definitely will. Microsoft was very slow on progress in developing Windows on ARM, bet when Apple released the M1 Microsoft significantly used more resources to get Windows on ARM right.
NVIDIA just release a cpu based on ARM. It looks like Intel is pronounced dead.

@@soberanisfam1323 Agreed and I don’t like the front design. I’m fine having the same length of bezels even if it is white or black without a colored-chin. That colored-chin is honestly less appealing, distracting, very obvious with the white bezel. Not uniformly well, not simple, not minimalistic I must say. If they just it, remove the chin and put all of the components at the back of the display. Well, it looks like a 21” iPad Pro with a stand but it’s much more balance and simpler yet elegant.

Kind of disappointing they did not do an all-screen design instead of the oversized, outdated chin and white bezels. Otherwise, I do love the purple though.

Still pretty boring. It’s now a big iPad but without touch or Apple Pencil! It should have folded flat to the desk so u can draw on it. But hey let’s make our customers buy 2 products to do that!
Do the webcam cameras really benefit from the Neural Engine? I always think it's a gimmick, maybe it helps with brightness, exposure but nothing to get to the quality of another type of camera.
The bandwidth of what's probably a CSI connection to the camera instead of say USB 2, might be enough reason to architect things this way.
It will be a big improvement. It'll be more like your phone's quality than current webcams.
I was expecting no chin and thin bezel like the XDR display. Bummer.

A matching chin colour bezel will be much better and I'd put a small logo on the chin in spectrum colour with rgb.

I’m confused, I have a printer that has a regular usb chord to connect to a computer, would I not be able to use it anymore since it has a usbc port only?

I like this new look. I think the idea is paying homage to the original iMac with modern materials and design.

They are big enough for people to recognise their products without needing to shove logos into faces.
But yeah having said that, I must agree that it looks a bit "empty" without the logo there. Should have *something* to fill the boring gap.

Apple should bring back their line of Cinema Displays starting around 300 dollars which can go nicely with the Mac mini or Mac Pro, or as a secondary monitor for the iMac with the same color choices as the iMac plus silver and space grey. Apple should bring back pro speakers with killer sound quality and can easily hit below 40 hertz despite how the small size of each enclosure is and attractive functionality features to set it apart from other external speakers in its class such as Airplay.

No M1X chip, no SD card slot, measly storage for the price, and the chin remains. Tim “greed is good” Cook strikes again.
That chin would have been so easy to get rid of but they're too proud to put a bump on the back for the io smfh
Without the chin the chip and logic board would have to be at the back, removing its cool slim back
@@jimbob7424 Apple's go to motto, aesthetics over function. It's absurd to me how people are hyping a desktop that could be built for 3/5ths the price with better specs.
1TB ssd are $100, but I know apple is going to say their ssd is $300.
@@jimbob7424 nah it could still be thin. They put the M1 in an iPad. It could operate at desktop specs in the iMac with those tiny fans marginally above ambient cooling. The Macbook Pro is thinner with one fan and doesn't have any problem. This still had way more space to work with especially since there's only one layer - but the MBP has ports in the sides. They've gone big bezel for the ports to reach deep enough into the chassy without interference from the display. They could have angled them though it had a bump or a divet.
Needs an Apple logo on the front (or the chin removed once technically possible) and black bezels!
I’m also not sure what to think of the selection of ports and 8GBs of RAM...
The 8 gb of ram is similar to the M1 macs it’s different than the 8 gb of ram from an intel machine. It has unified memory.
And there is a 16gb version.
8gb on an arm device is basically equivalent to 16gb on windows
@@FADHsquared the ram in the M1 processors is similar to L3 Cache, it’s a lot faster but also a lot more expensive. It’s definitely one of the reasons why an ARM chip runs so well for being well, ARM based

No, I ordered mine maxed out everything and you can put up to 2 TB SSD. with 16 GB RAM, actually you don't need more than that with the M1 processor.
well the reason for the big chin is not only for better cooling and housing the components, making it thicker would only lose the chin, but on the other hand have a lot of unused space, just like the Mac mini.
Likewise, the new speakers need large acoustic chambers to produce the sound th claim to produce, so the speakers had to be somewhere around there. Also using the chin to adjust the monitor adds some functionality whithout having to touch the actual screen.
I think it was the optimal use of space, with priority being thermal management and excellent speaker quality

@@xfire9233 surface studio is different kind of a device with incomparable performance to the M1 and abysmal sound quality even when compared last gen iMacs. But nevertheless we can't compare both devices.
@@dhivakark9962 What does performance has to do with design? if anything m1 chip should reinforce imac should not have chin bcz m1 chips are much more compact. Its just a terrible design. Just look at 2000s size bezels
@@xfire9233 design also needs to facilitate the performance of the device, if u need good performance with fans producing sound lesser than 10db, u need to have a efficient design with can manage thermals in such a way, moving it to the chin means that the chips can run hotter and not affect the screen. We all know how much heat is produced by the screen itself. It makes no sense to thicken push the chip behind the screen, and making a more sophisticated heat sink with most of the space that u have by increasing the thickness being unused. If u see the skeleton shots of the iMac u also realise that part of the amazing sound quality they claim it has is due to the acoustic chambers that allow air to be displaced.
A good design is just not how it looks but also about how the device would perform with the said design.

i don't think the colors are such a good idea in the longer term if you are trying to sell it after a few years but potential buyers don't agree on your purple orange or yellow fetish
agree, any personalization lowers value of a product on resell market. But that's not so bad for buyers of used Macs as they'll be cheaper. Just bad for initial buyer.

It seems kind of bonkers that the difference between the $1299 and $1499 model is on the power cord. Is there any differences aside from its ability to have usb & ethernet devices plugged into it?

There is no real benefit to end users for the 50% volumetric savings. It sits on an adjustable stand anyway! Who needs the space between stand arm and back of screen?

Where's the SD card slot gone??
It’s basically a laptop without the transportability. Only 255GB disk. No numeric keypad. Have to use a bulky charger. Have to carry dongles for the Blue Yeti microphone in USB2 (and the printer). Need a SD adapter to download the films from my reflex camera. Can’t plug earphones. I’ll go for the Macbook and I’ll buy a bigger screen. And not the Macbook pro because it doesn’t have function keys...

Aha memories when iMac 21,5", was 21,5", unlike now when 23,5" is called 24"! 🙄And when entry-level iMac had FOUR USB-A 3.0 ports, alongside two Thunderbolt and a LAN!
The world is moving on from USB a, deal with it. You can still get USB a on these, plus there is Ethernet/lan if you were paying attention
@@chopping_board Dude, USB just got 4.0 speedbump couple moths ago. USB is thriving, especially USB-A with 3.2 20Mbps spec! And no, you haven't paying attention, because entry level iMac DOES NOT have LAN! Go and see for yourself on the Apple's web page.
