Jeff, You did great for a while and rode so humble, but then when the opportunity knocked, almost out of natural survival instinct, you take over at the 1st opportunity (you called luck) when one of your trail bosses, Tim dabbed! At 4:52 you immediately take over driving the bus like a natural! Hats off to Nick "Dick Knobs" Hobbs for the trail build and tour! Great beginning tech rock lines!
So stoked for this and possibly more Marquette vids! Such an underrated location, insane riding, super cool people, and the area is just gorgeous, so untouched and pristine. The UP is truly the last untouched location in the lower 48, I love Marquette and the Keweenaw! Thanks Jeff, hope you were able to enjoy some brews from Blackrocks, and a Pasty from Jean Kay’s.
I used to spend a lot of time there as a kid, and it is truly beautiful and unspoiled. To say though that it is the "last untouched location in the lower 48" is total BS. There is enough wilderness in the lower 48 to swallow the entire state of MI. You should visit parts of CA, OR, WA, and ID if you want to see true wilderness in the lower 48. Not a knock on the UP, which as I said is a real gem - just trying to keep the facts straight.
+Thomas Thrower - The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is the most remote and untouched location in the lower 48, it’s fact! I have traveled all across the states, the UP, specifically the Keweenaw peninsula is the most remote. The Keweenaw, Copper Harbor specifically, is the furthest town from ANY Interstate highway in the lower 48. Just wanted to keep the facts straight, Thomas I know you thought other places were more remote but, factually, they are not. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is the most isolated, remote, and pristine location in the contiguous portion of America. i.redd.it/34tj3nqzo9h11.png k1025.com/copper-harbor-farthest-from-interstate/
First off, you didn't say "remote" or "isolated", you said last untouched. If you're definition of isolated is "furthest from an interstate" and that is how you want to win an argument, so be it. Sounds to me though like you're just very narrow focused and stuck on the UP vs. believing instead that there are countless pristine and isolated areas all across the lower 48 that are each unique and could each arguably be considered the most pristine. Get over yourself and your beloved UP dude.
Jeff Lenosky thanks. Got a great deal on a 2019 lyrik rct3 and have been looking at the topaz for the rear since it’s one of the few that comes in the right size. Thanks for the advice. BTW when are you gonna make your way back to northwest Arkansas?
Hopefully you got some more footage there. One of my favorite places to ride...and I live in Colorado. Also hope you made it to Copper Harbor since you were in the neighborhood. Cool town too. When I'm having a shitty day at work I dream of getting fired and moving to Marquette! :P
From the video, I could tell that it’s one scary steep descent and a very technical climb. It’s entertaining to watch you ride those trails. Good job to the guys that build the trail! Keep up the good work 👍🏽
I've been wanting to get up there for a couple years now. Looks awesome. Could a 160mm steel hardtail do ok up there? Or should I just rent a FS when I get there.
I took a trip to Marquette in July and loved every second of it. I rode both Bareback and Doc Nobbs one of the days I was there. Let me just say that this video DOES NOT at all do justice to how technical some of these lines are. I was alone and riding it blind and ending up walking several of the features haha! I'll tackle the whole thing someday. I'm stoked to see your video on Bareback because I think that is probably one of the best trails I've ever ridden. I'm glad you got to experience the magic of Marquette!
Good question, I think the 27.5 is super manueverable, however 29ers do roll awesome and I plan to be on one soon. I'll definitely keep both on hand though.
Was it just me..or was that footage super blurry? Looked like a cool trail. Goes to show what two really determined people who love the sport can accomplish without earth moving equipment.
Marquette is an amazing place to ride and visit. I was introduced to Harlow Lake or otherwise known as Harlow Walk. I can't wait to see Bareback. My skills were laughable on that trail.
Nice vid mate. From what I could make out the trails looked nice. Pity about the rylo image quality. Pretty bad to be honest. Almost unwatchable on a big screen.
For what is terrain wise, (only 350 vertical) the trail is on point. Looks awesome!
It's a blast!

Stoked on this! I used to lead wilderness trip in the UP back in the 90s and I hope to get back there and ride these trails.
Jonathan Spoelstra it was fun! Stay tuned for a full Trail Boss video soon
THIS trail killed me. Brutal.

Pedals and Plants post of the day. So on point with BR & Jean Kay's.
Pedals and Plants wait till my Trail Boss video on Bare Back. It was a challenge.

Is that trail part of the Margi Gesick 100 course? Looks great, I need to head a little north and check it out.
It is not.
Awesome Video. Riding the same bike but stock. Want to upgrade my suspension. What do you suggest for stuff like you are riding in this video?
I have a DVO Diamond fork and Topaz rear shock and I'm LOVING it. I'd definitley reccomend it.

Nic is the real trail
Boss
Andrew Doody he built it and he shredded it so I’d have to agree

Cool looking trail. What the heck happened to the video though? I almost got motion sickness watching...

If you are slightly experienced you'll be fine. There is some freeride stuff that I'd recommend a full squish bike for.
Marquette looks awesome - can't wait until 2021 to visit.
That looked super fun! Too bad I live way over on the west coast. I’ll just have to enjoy it through your lense. Thanks for the video
Rory Johnson thanks for checking it out.

It's rough! And there's no cell coverage there..
Jeff, Did you possibly stay at the Birchmont Motel when you were in Marquette?
I'm staying there for Marji 100 !
I rode this same trail in July, although at a much slower pace! :D
Great trail for pre-dawn riding missions. Funchunk.
I’m curious to know why you choose to ride 27.5 and not 29, being that you’re 6’4. Is 27.5 a better fit?
Good question, I think the 27.5 is super manueverable, however 29ers do roll awesome and I plan to be on one soon. I'll definitely keep both on hand though.
Was just up there in July for the first time riding the trails for 3 days. Awesome place to ride!!
I live in Mi and was just up there... I didnt have time to hit any trails and it makes me sad. haha
ugh, its so fun!
Was it just me..or was that footage super blurry? Looked like a cool trail. Goes to show what two really determined people who love the sport can accomplish without earth moving equipment.
i think something is up with his gimbal, it had a repeating pulse to it kind of.
I think that's something the Rylo does from time to time in 180* mode, but I could easily be wrong. I don't think that was a GoPro/Gimbal combo.
Marquette is an amazing place to ride and visit. I was introduced to Harlow Lake or otherwise known as Harlow Walk. I can't wait to see Bareback. My skills were laughable on that trail.
looks really sweet! :) great vid.
K FIVE thanks!!
Some tech in there hey? Looks fun as Huck! Little blurry at times with the Rylo, maybe that's on my side? Awesome riding though J Leno!
Whoops! Replied while logged in to my other account! Oh well, also subscribed again! Happy Friday!
thanks twice, it did come out blurry, IDK if it was low light or what??
Maybe, I only saw it on the faster sections. Just too much to process at Trail Boss speed ;)
Yes indeed. Great content and edit but pic quality could be better.
is it just me or does he need to increase the bit rate on the camera?
bro I am from Michigan and had no idea there was amazing trails like that there
10 a C e bikes Jody Bennett II download an app like trail forks or MTB project. They’re super useful.
Yeah that was wicked blurry here on my phone, cool trail though.
Todd Uncyclist I think it was the low light?
That's a lotta trail for only 350' descent.
I don't see that many videos out of the UP Jeff, great job! You were right, that rock wall was sketch!
Good Stuff👍👊
Love Marquette
Nice vid mate. From what I could make out the trails looked nice. Pity about the rylo image quality. Pretty bad to be honest. Almost unwatchable on a big screen.
addappt 100 percent! I have two more vids coming. A full Trail Boss and another follow Cam shot with my better camera and better light
nice
