  • Interested in reusable fabric wrapping? This DIY Furoshiki making video explains about materials, sizes and how to sew.
Furoshiki is a square cloth which has been used for wrapping and carrying items in Japan for a long time.
There are many methods for gift wrapping, which are a bit like Origami.
Fabric wrapping is reusable and washable. Unlike paper wrapping, it's easy to wrap round shaped items and odd-shaped items too. Even if your gift wrapping didn't turn out very well, you can just try it again as it's reusable!
Also you can use them in your every day life not only for gift wrapping.
If sewing is not your thing, look for substitutes for Furoshiki at thrift shops!
We have a video explaining tips for how to find substitutes.
No Furoshiki? You can reuse these items from thrift shops!

Me ha encantado tu video, una pregunta, algunos tienen un color x dentro y otro por fuera. ¿ Se cosen dos telas de distinto color juntas? Gracias

Hi, the one with two different colours is a commercial one which is printed on both sides in different colours.
You can make a reversible one using two pieces of fabric too😊
I’ve also made a reversible furoshiki in this video here:

    Should I use a two-sided material!??
    Does silk work?

There are Furoshiki made with silk💕 I haven’t made one by myself but I have seen them many times👍
Also, you can certainly use a two-sided material. I own a couple of reversible Furoshiki which I bought in Japan.
Alternatively, you can sew two pieces of fabric together to make a reversible Furoshiki. Here’s the video⬇️

Either way, you need to make sure that the final product is not too thick to tie a knot with the corner parts.
