I might be in the minority but i am really excited for both their storylines this season and appreciate you covered the interviews and promo materials in your videos. I really enjoy alicent as a character, despite not being team green. I’m ready to see olivia’s performance as alicent, I just know it’s going to be incredible.
Many people are complaining about Alicent being the face of the greens, not Aegon. I sort of agree with that viewpoint, maybe we'll see if s3 makes Aegon the face of the greens finally.
The story was literally named "Princess and the Queen".
Alicent was always far more the leader of the Greens and Rhaenyra's opponent than Aegon was.
Green fans love to bring up how “Aegon never wanted the crown” yet now they’re saying “ITS AEGON VS RHAENYRA!! ITS AEGONS WAR”. Like shhhhh you can’t have it both ways. He’s still under Alicent and Ottos control, at least until blood and cheese happens. Then he goes to war and is basically asleep 9/10 hours a day. Then he goes into hiding until the very end of the war. It’s definitely more Hightowers vs Targaryens than Aegon vs Rhaenyra.

I don’t remember Rhaenyra manipulating anyone in Season 1. She seemed almost too passive. It will be good to see some ruthlessness. It does sound promising and Emma is terrific in the role. I just want it to be a realistic progression, and not one where she is innocent of everything. We’ll see how they handle it. I get nervous when they start talking about female power, even when I want to see her get some. Today in Hollywood that often means at the expense of the male characters. As you no doubt have seen, that scene they released with Daemon getting mad is not going over well. I trust Matt though. He says he has an arc also

I couldn't find the interview with the chess footage/images.
Its just the entertainment weekly one. Its in video form all over social media too. The directors hid some symbolism in the moves the characters make on the board, its very rhaenicent

@@jimmyfaulkner1855 in the books alocent‘s actually a lot older and more of an evil stepmom character- but there was some homoerotic context added in the show because of the much different relationship dynamic. i don’t think it’ll ever become more than what we‘ve already seen but still an interesting level of added nuance in my opinion. and i bet the photos are intentionally playing into it.
As I have been saying for a long time.Season ends with Rhaenyra taking KL and sit the throne,she and alicent literally change places.
